Trump FTC Takes Action Against Pornhub Over Child Sexual Abuse Material.

 

President Donald J. Trump‘s Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced on Wednesday that it will join Utah in a settlement action and consent order against a number of adult content websites, including Pornhub and RedTube. The Utah Attorney General’s office and the FTC contend the websites “deceived users by doing little to block tens of thousands of videos and photos featuring child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and nonconsensual material (NCM) despite claiming that this content was ‘strictly prohibited.'”

 

“Pornhub’s operators turned a blind eye to the proliferation of videos depicting the sexual abuse of children on its sites so it could profit off this exploitation,” the FTC’s Director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection, Christopher Mufarrige, said in a statement. He continued: “Under the order we’re announcing today, Pornhub’s operators will be required to take concrete steps to block this harmful content and ensure that those who appear in videos on their sites are consenting adults.”

 

FTC Commissioner Melissa Holyoak accused the adult content websites of having “inflicted grave harm on children and nonconsenting adults by promoting and distributing truly horrific material online.” She added: “As today’s complaint and proposed order make clear, the FTC will use every tool in its arsenal to stop such outrageous conduct.”

 

The proposed settlement and consent order take direct action against Pornhub’s parent company, Aylo—formerly known as MindGeek—which operates more than 100 pornographic photo and video-streaming websites. Among Aylo’s largest pornographic website properties are Pornhub, YouPorn, and RedTube, which boast hundreds of millions of monthly visitors in the United States alone.

 

Utah and the FTC contend that Aylo “deceived users by claiming it has zero tolerance for CSAM and works to block CSAM and NCM on its sites by, among other things, taking prompt action when videos are flagged by users.” However, in reality, the company—according to Utah’s complaint—failed to take any concrete action to remove flagged content, ban uploaders of CSAM, or prevent the reupload of removed content.

 

The settlement action and consent order impose a $15 million federal fine against Aylo, which will be suspended if the company pays a lesser $5 million fine to Utah. Additionally, Aylo will be required to no longer misrepresent its policies regarding CSAM and NCM.

 

Other provisions include a requirement for Aylo to enact “a program to prevent the publication or dissemination of CSAM and NCM content,” a thorough verification system for those appearing in uploaded content, and to remove offending content uploaded prior to the “implementation of the CSAM and NCM prevention program.”

Clear Jurisdictional Guidelines: The SEC, which oversees securities including certain crypto tokens classified as investment contracts, and the CFTC, which regulates commodities and derivatives such as futures on virtual currencies, are working to delineate boundaries. This will help prevent overlaps and gaps in regulation, ensuring that spot markets—where assets are traded for immediate delivery—operate smoothly.

Support for Leveraged Products: Exchanges will be allowed to list leveraged digital products on registered platforms, provided they adhere to federal rules. This includes requirements for margin trading and financing, which must occur on designated contract markets (DCMs) to comply with the Commodity Exchange Act.

Investor Protection and Compliance Focus: Both agencies emphasize the need for strong anti-fraud measures, anti-money laundering protocols, and transparency. The CFTC’s authority over commodity spot markets for manipulation and fraud will complement the SEC’s investor protection mandate, creating a more unified regulatory environment.

This initiative builds on recent developments, such as the SEC’s “Project Crypto,” announced by Chair Paul Atkins, which aims to modernize securities laws and integrate blockchain technology into U.S. capital markets. Similarly, the CFTC’s “crypto sprint,” led by Acting Chair Caroline Pham, is accelerating the implementation of recommendations from the President’s Working Group on Digital Asset Markets.

 

Industry experts view this as a positive signal for the crypto ecosystem, potentially attracting more institutional participation and fostering U.S. leadership in digital finance. However, stakeholders are encouraged to provide feedback on potential implications, including how non-security assets tied to investment contracts might be traded.

Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Ro Khanna (D-CA) will hold a news conference this morning with ten Jeffrey Epstein victims on Wednesday as they continue pressing for the declassification of all of the Epstein files and client lists.

 

Massie and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) previously joined forces with Ro Khanna on a discharge petition aimed at compelling a full House vote on releasing classified Jeffrey Epstein files. Khanna said that 12 Democrats and 12 Republicans have signed onto the petition.

 

Massie filed the petition on Tuesday, and he says 134 have already signed onto the petition, surpassing half of the 218 signatures needed.

 

Khanna recently said 212 Democrats and 12 Republicans have shown support.

 

Meanwhile, the House Oversight Committee has released an additional 33,000 pages of Epstein documents provided by the Department of Justice under a subpoena.

 

But Massie and Khanna want all of the remaining files to be released.

 

Ro Khanna recently said the press conference will feature victims who "haven't spoken for decades," and "when the American people actually hear the victims for the first time, they are going to sympathize, their hearts are going to be broken."

IDF kills head of Mujahideen terror group in Gaza, which held Bibas family hostage

The IDF and Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) have killed Musbah Salim Musbah Dayyah, head of the Mujahideen terrorist group that held the Bibas family, the IDF reported Wednesday.

Dayyah was responsible for terrorist attacks in Gaza and the West Bank, the IDF said. He was the fourth Mujahideen leader in Gaza to be eliminated over the past few months, it added.

 

Mujahideen terrorists took “a significant part in the brutal October 7 massacre,” including abduction and murder, the IDF said.

Dayyah was operating in the Nuseirat refugee camp area in the central Gaza Strip.

 

Kataib al-Mujahideen (Holy Warriors Brigades), the so-called armed wing of the Palestinian Mujahideen Movement, invaded Israel during the October 7 massacre.

It was responsible for the abduction and murder of Shiri Bibas and her children, Kfir and Ariel, as well as the killing of Israeli-American-Canadian couple Judith Weinstein Haggai and Gad Haggai and Thai workers.

The IDF killed Kataib al-Mujahideen commander Mahmoud Muhammad Hamid Kuhail, also known as Abu al-Mu’tasim, and Palestinian Mujahideen Movement leader As’ad Abu Sharaiya in an airstrike in early June.

According to security sources, Kataib al-Mujahideen is relatively small but highly lethal and compartmentalized, which has allowed it to operate under the radar of the IDF and evade intelligence monitoring.

 

The group was established during the Second Intifada by senior terrorists who split from Fatah’s al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades and adopted a more radical Salafi ideology.

Florida to End All Vaccine Mandates

The announcement was made by Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo on Sept. 3.

 

Florida’s surgeon general, Dr. Joseph Ladapo, announced on Sept. 3 that he was working to eliminate all vaccine mandates from state law.

 

“The Florida Department of Health, in partnership with the governor, is going to be working to end all vaccine mandates in Florida law,” he said at a press conference. “All of them.”

“Every last one is wrong and drips with disdain and slavery,” Ladapo said.

 

“Who am I, as a government, or anyone else, or who am I as a man standing here now to tell you what you should put in your body? Who am I to tell you what your child should put in their body?

 

“I don’t have that right. Your body is a gift from God. What you put into your body is because of your relationship with your Body and your God.”

 

The surgeon general reiterated that neither he nor the government had the right to force vaccines upon people and urged those listening to take that power away from the government and make their own informed decisions.

 

He then said that the Florida Department of Health was able to start the process by striking down rules established by his predecessors that mandated several vaccines, and then his department would work with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and the state’s lawmakers to eliminate the rest of the mandates.

 

“We need to end it,” he said. ”It’s the right thing to do, and it'll be wonderful for Florida to be the first state to do it.”

 

One form of those mandates is vaccine requirements for students to attend school. Such requirements currently stand in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.

Of that total, 29 states and the District of Columbia only allow exemptions for those who claim religious objections, while 14 other states allow exemptions for either religious or personal/philosophical objections. Louisiana and Minnesota do not specify if a person’s non-medical exemption has to be for religious or personal reasons.

All 50 states allow medical exemptions. Five states do not allow for any non-medical exemption.

According to the Florida Department of Health’s website, several immunization requirements are in place as of Sept. 3.

By the time a child is ready for daycare or preschool, for example, he or she is required to be vaccinated for Diphtheria-tetanus-acellular pertussis (DTaP), inactivated polio vaccine (IPV), measles-mumps-rubella (MMR), Varicella (chickenpox), Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib), Pneumococcal conjugate (PCV15/20), and Hepatitis B (Hep B).

For children attending any grade from kindergarten through 12th grade, he or she needs to have four or five doses of DTaP, four or five doses of IPV, two doses of MMR, three doses of Hep B, one Tetanus-diphtheria-acellular pertussis (Tdap), and two doses of Varicella (unless a history of varicella disease is documented).

Ladapo did not offer further details on how he would go about eliminating the vaccine mandates.

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has stated its opposition to the move over concerns that it would put the state’s public school children at higher risk for getting sick and further affect the community.

“The AAP believes every family should have access to immunizations to keep their community healthy,” the organization said in a statement.

“Schools are an important part of that community, but close contact with other kids makes it easy for contagious diseases to spread quickly. That’s why most schools require routine childhood immunizations.

“When everyone in a school is vaccinated, it’s harder for diseases to spread.”

Ladapo made his announcement as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced the creation of the state’s Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Commission and Medical Freedom Protections.

 

The commission will be chaired by his wife, Casey DeSantis.

Shin Bet, IDF foil Hamas plot to assassinate Ben-Gvir

The Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) thwarted a Hamas terrorist cell’s plan to assassinate National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir using explosive drones, it said Wednesday.

The operation to prevent the assassination attempt was carried out by Israeli security forces and the IDF over the past few weeks in the Hebron area, the Shin Bet said.

 

The suspects, who are in custody, had been receiving direction from Hamas operatives in Turkey, it said, adding that the investigation was ongoing.

President Donald Trump designated a slew of Latin American cartels as terrorist organizations in early August and authorized the U.S. military to strike the groups. The strike Tuesday killed 11 operatives from the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua cartel.

 

Colombia exported a record high of 2,664 metric tons of cocaine in 2023, according to United Nations statistics. Petro was formerly a member of the M-19 militia, a Marxist militant group turned political party.

 

Petro has attempted to establish talks with armed groups, cartels and militias in Colombia after a brutal civil war killed thousands of Colombians over the course of more than 60 years. However, criminal groups have only added to their numbers since Petro came into office in 2023.

 

Petro has established himself as one of many international Trump critics early in his term, engaging in a public spat with the president over accepting deportation planes returning Colombians who illegally entered the United States. Greta's flotilla faces storms, drone surveillance on mission against Gaza blockade

Organizers and participants of the Global Sumud Flotilla claimed that drones flew over their vessels and surveyed them on Tuesday night as they sailed to attempt to break the Israeli blockade around Gaza.

Sumud committee organizer Yasemin Acar said in an Instagram video that around 90 nautical miles from the Island of Menorca, they “detected the first drones.”

 

Each vessel in the flotilla had a drone flying above them, according to Acar’s assessment, surveilling the group of ships that had embarked from Barcelona on Monday after poor weather conditions forced the mission to turn back from their initial launch on Sunday. Brazilian activist Thiago Avila called for accountability against those who were surveilling the “humanitarian mission” and questioned how much funding was invested into such an operation.

In a June blockade run, climate activist Greta Thunberg panicked when her ship, the Madleen, was approached by Greek Coast Guard drones, and in May, the Freedom Flotilla Coalition claimed that one of their vessels was attacked by a drone off the shores of Malta.

 

Climate doesn't help Thunberg's flotilla

The flotilla of dozens of ships has faced difficulties beyond its initial embarking from Barcelona. Crew members complained of rough waters through Monday night and a storm that knocked out communications between the ships.

The Sumud Flotilla said in a Tuesday statement that five of their smaller ships had to turn back to port on Monday night.

 

“When small civilian vessels must do the work that governments have failed to do, sailing to break the siege and end the genocide, challenges like these are common,” said the organization.

“If even one of the complicit governments sent their far more capable ships to Gaza, these obstacles would not fall on ordinary people.”

Acar said in a Tuesday Instagram video that “the sea is finally aligning with us. The waters are calmer now, but not our resolve.”

 

The Spanish-origin flotilla is set to join with vessels from Tunis, Greece, and Italy, but it is unclear if they will still meet the rendezvous date of September 4.

Flotilla organizers claimed to be carrying water, food, and other aid for Gazans, and that their main mission is to create global solidarity against Israeli policy toward Gaza.

IDF to deploy armed ‘bat’ drones during Gaza City op

The Israel Defense Forces will deploy an armed drone called “Atalef” (bat in Hebrew) during its upcoming invasion of Gaza City, Hebrew media reported on Wednesday.

This type of drone has been highly effective against terrorist forces in the Strip, according to Channel 12 News.

 

“In addition, each company will be assigned a reconnaissance drone responsible for intelligence gathering and assisting with real-time operational decisions,” the report said.

“The IDF stated that four drone schools have already been established, indicating a major internal revolution in this field.”

 

According to the report, Israeli forces have already encircled the city, Hamas’s last stronghold in Gaza.

During the operation, 32 brigades are expected to maneuver, including 21 infantry. The infantry brigades will include 15 reserve and six active-duty.

 

Additionally, the IDF said that 60% of its bulldozers are operational, the other 40% out of service.

The IDF’s Technology and Logistics Division is taking care of “personal equipment, infrastructure response, maintaining the suitability of tools, bringing in supplies through logistics operations every day, and providing medical care alongside medical and psychological response to the fighters,” the military said.

 

The entry of ground forces into Gaza City is expected within two weeks, according to Channel 12, noting that a complex evacuation process for noncombatants could change the timetable.

The IDF has started establishing new food distribution centers in the southern Gaza Strip, where medical aid is being administered, according to the report.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is preparing for the second and decisive phase of its attack on the final Hamas positions in Gaza City, in an operation that has been dubbed “Gideon’s Chariots II.”

The military has called up 60,000 reservists for the ground attack, which aims to complete the destruction of Hamas — and, if possible, to rescue any of the remaining 20 living Israeli hostages (28 are believed dead).

 

IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir told troops on Tuesday that the military would not accept “anything less than decisive victory” over the terrorist organization.

Separately, the IDF organized a series of combat drills among the reservists, both in open and urban settings, to prepare them for their missions in northern Gaza.

 

The IDF is also preparing to evacuate thousands of Palestinian civilians to humanitarian areas within the Gaza Strip further south, moving them out of harm’s way so that the military can target Hamas more safely.

There have been reports in recent days that the first phase of Operation Gideon’s Chariots made several mistakes — including supplying humanitarian aid, which was stolen by Hamas and used to replenish its supplies.

Israel came under intense pressure to provide more aid after fake reports of starving children.

 

There is also reportedly internal dissent within the senior levels of government, as Zamir reportedly has pushed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to accept a partial hostage deal that Hamas had once rejected but has now embraced after weeks of unrelenting military pressure.

A left-wing protest movement, which was dormant in the months after the October 7, 2023, terror attacks, has risen again in the name of releasing the hostages. Several hundred reservists have vowed publicly not to report for duty in the war.

The dissent represents something of a victory for the late Hamas spokesman Abu Obeida, killed by the IDF last week, who reportedly tried to manipulate Israeli public opinion as a way of thwarting the Israeli military.

Ukraine makes military history with first drone strike on Russian missile corvette

Ukraine reached a milestone in modern warfare for the first time by deploying drones to successfully strike a Russian “Buyan-M” missile corvette in the Azov Sea, military intelligence says.

The seacraft was capable of launching Kalibr cruise missiles.

 

Defense Express, called the attack “the first successful strike on a ship by an FPV [first-person view] drone in history.”

“And it was carried out at a range of over 350 km — another achievement for the Ukrainian Defense Forces, while also highlighting a critical vulnerability of the Buyan-M corvettes,” the report reads.

 

The missile ship was in the potential launch zone for Kalibr missiles in the Temryuk Bay. It sustained damage and was forced to leave its combat patrol area.

“Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to make military history. Until now, drones had attacked boats and ships, but never military vessels of this class,” analysts said.

 

The attack also revealed the ineffectiveness of Russian naval defenses, experts said.

“The video clearly shows the Buyan-M trying to maneuver actively, indicating the crew was aware of the threat.

Yet its air defense systems remained silent,” the report reads.

 

The ship is equipped with the powerful Duet artillery system, designed to destroy not only drones but also cruise missiles, helicopters, and aircraft. Yet in the footage, it neither fired nor tracked the threat.

“Why this happened is hard to explain, as the crew definitely responded to threats,” the report reads.

 

Analysts suggest the issue may lie with the ship’s radar systems, responsible for target detection, or with its fire control system. Ultimately, the main air defense failed to operate.

“This is significant because these corvettes are essentially the backbone of the Black Sea Fleet and the Caspian Flotilla — seven ships in these formations, plus four more in the Baltic Fleet,” the report said.

Are Ukrainian vigilantes rising up against the Kiev regime?

Far-right politician Andrey Parubiy was killed not by a Russian agent, but by a grieving father desperate for justice

When the news broke that a suspect had been arrested in the assassination of former Rada speaker, far-right Maidan figure Andrey Parubiy,much of the initial discussion revolved around Russia.

 

Ukrainian authorities are predictably looking for a “Russian footprint.”But the suspect’s own words tell a very different story– a story of agrieving fatherwho turned his despair into violence, and in doing so,revealed a deeper crisis within Ukrainian society itself.

 

The man accused of murdering Parubiy, oneMikhail Stselnikov, is not a shadowy foreign agent, but a Ukrainian whose son went missing in the waragainst Russia. His confession was blunt:his act was driven by personal revengeagainst the Ukrainian authorities. He says he chose Parubiy because he lived nearby, and he would’ve chosen former president Pyotr Poroshenko if that were more convenient.

 

This choice of target is not random: these are men who, since the 2014 Maidan revolution, took Ukraine down the path the path toward confrontation with Russia, NATO aspirations, –and ultimately, a devastating war.

 

For this father, the tragedy is bitterly ironic.His son died fighting the Russians, yet he places blame not on Moscow, but on his own government. His child became a casualty not of “Putin’s aggression,”but of decisions made by Kiev’s political elitea decade earlier. In killing Parubiy, a key figure of the Maidan, he struck at the heart of the establishment that, in his view, had condemned his son to die.

 

This crime cannot be brushed aside as the madness of one man. It speaks to a growing disillusionment among Ukrainians, who have bornethe brunt of the war’s human cost. Forced conscriptions, brutalized bystanders dragged from streets into military vans, families torn apart by mobilization – such practices have deepened anger at the government.

 

Evenmore painful is the perception that Kiev drags its feet on prisoner exchanges and the recovery of fallen soldiers’ remains. For parents like Stselnikov, this adds alayer of crueltyto an already unbearable loss. It is not only that their children die;it is that the state remains indifferent to their suffering.

 

Polling data backs up this mood. According to a survey by Rating Group in August 2025,a staggering 82% of Ukrainians now favor negotiations with Russia, while only 11% support continuing the war. Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky commands just 35% support.Ukrainians are exhausted, embittered, and increasingly view their leadersnot as protectors but as obstacles to peace.

Suspected drone sighting delays landing of Lithuanian president’s plane

A Lithuanian military aircraft with the country’s president on board was unable to land at Vilnius Airport for some time on Tuesday night due to a suspected drone sighting.​

“As we approached Vilnius Airport, we received information that a drone had been spotted and that it was unsafe to land at that time.

The pilots then took all necessary safety measures and landed after a while,” Tomas Berzinskas, the spokesperson of President Gitanas Nausėda, told the 15min news website on Tuesday night.​

 

In July, two separate incidents involving Russian drones entering Lithuania prompted increased attention to air defences around the country's capital.

Oro Navigacija (Air Navigation) said the drone on Tuesday was spotted in Liepkalnis, an area of Vilnius near the airport.

 

“Flights were temporarily suspended and, once information was received that there was no threat, traffic was resumed.

We are working with other services to determine which drone disrupted aircraft traffic. We will share the latest information as soon as we have it,” the air navigation service provider added.

 

On Wednesday, the Transport Ministry clarified that the drone was in the air for "advertising purposes".

“The circumstances of the incident are currently being investigated by the responsible authorities. The public will be informed immediately upon receipt of the latest information," the ministry said in a statement released on Wednesday.

 

Flights at Vilnius Airport were also temporarily suspended at the end of August due to a drone sighting.

At the time, Oro Navigacija said that the drone belonged to a private security firm, which was disputed by the owner of the company.

The U.S. military conducted a strike against a Venezuelan vessel in international waters on Tuesday, marking the first known operation since the Trump administration’s recent naval buildup in the Caribbean region.

 

President Donald Trump confirmed the operation in a Truth Social post, stating: “Earlier this morning, on my Orders, U.S. Military Forces conducted a kinetic strike against positively identified Tren de Aragua Narcoterrorists in the SOUTHCOM area of responsibility.”

 

Trump identified the target as members of Tren de Aragua (TDA), “a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization, operating under the control of Nicolas Maduro, responsible for mass murder, drug trafficking, sex trafficking, and acts of violence and terror across the United States and Western Hemisphere.”

 

According to the president’s statement, the strike resulted in 11 fatalities among those aboard the vessel, which was allegedly transporting illegal narcotics bound for the United States. No U.S. forces were reported harmed in the operation.

 

Trump earlier told reporters at the White House: “We just, over the last few minutes, literally shot out a boat, a drug-carrying boat, a lot of drugs in that boat.” He added, “And there’s more where that came from. We have a lot of drugs pouring into our country, coming in for a long time… These came out of Venezuela.”

 

Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed the operation on social media, describing it as “a lethal strike in the southern Caribbean against a drug vessel which had departed from Venezuela and was being operated by a designated narco-terrorist organization.”

 

The strike comes amid a significant U.S. naval buildup in the region, greatly excheeding the typical U.S. naval presence in the region. Seven U.S. warships and one nuclear-powered fast attack submarine are either currently deployed or expected to arrive soon in the southern Caribbean, bringing approximately 4,500 sailors and Marines to the area.

 

The naval force includes the USS San Antonio, USS Iwo Jima, and USS Fort Lauderdale, vessels capable of deploying helicopters and Tomahawk cruise missiles. Additionally, P-8 spy planes have been conducting intelligence-gathering missions over international waters in the region.

 

The Venezuelan Communications Ministry has not yet responded to the incident.

The U.S. military killed 11 people on Tuesday in a strike on a vessel from Venezuela allegedly carrying illegal narcotics, in the first known operation since President Donald Trump’s recent deployment of warships to the southern Caribbean.

 

Little is known about the strike, including what legal justification was used or what drugs were on board, but Hegseth said operations would continue.

 

“We’ve got assets in the air, assets in the water, assets on ships, because this is a deadly serious mission for us, and it won’t stop with just this strike,” Hegseth said on Fox News.

 

“Anyone else trafficking in those waters who we know is a designated narco terrorist will face the same fate,” Hegseth said.

 

He declined to provide details on how the operation was carried out, saying they were classified. It is unknown whether the vessel was destroyed using a drone, torpedo, or by some other means.

 

After Tuesday’s strike, Trump said the U.S. military had identified the crew as members of Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, which the United States designated a terrorist group in February.

 

The Pentagon has not released specifics about the crew and why it chose to kill those on board.

 

Presidents of both major U.S. parties have in the past, asserted the authority to use the military for limited strikes when there is a threat to the United States, as Trump did in June when he ordered an attack on Iran.

 

But it is unclear what legal authority Trump used in this case.

 

Mary Ellen O’Connell, an expert on international law and the use of force with the University of Notre Dame, said Tuesday’s operation “violated fundamental principles of international law.”

 

“The alleged fact that the attack was on the high seas is irrelevant. What is relevant is that the U.S. had no right to intentionally kill these suspects,” she said.

 

MADURO ‘SHOULD BE WORRIED’

The decision to blow up a suspected drug vessel passing through the Caribbean, instead of seizing the vessel and apprehending its crew, is highly unusual and evokes memories of the U.S. fight against militant groups such as al Qaeda.

 

The United States has deployed warships in the southern Caribbean in recent weeks, with the aim of following through on a pledge by Trump to crack down on drug cartels.

 

Seven U.S. warships, along with one nuclear-powered fast attack submarine, are either in the region or expected to be there soon, carrying more than 4,500 sailors and Marines.

 

U.S. Marines and sailors from the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit have been carrying out amphibious training and flight operations in southern Puerto Rico.

 

Asked about Venezuela’s close relationship with China, Hegseth took aim at Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

 

“The only person that should be worried is Nicolas Maduro, who is … effectively a kingpin of a drug narco state,” Hegseth said.

 

The Trump administration’s singling out of Maduro has raised alarm in Caracas that the government might be the real target.

 

Last month, the United States doubled its reward for information leading to the arrest of Maduro to $50 million, accusing him of links to drug trafficking and criminal groups.

 

Venezuelan officials have repeatedly said Tren de Aragua is no longer active in their country after they dismantled it during a prison raid in 2023.

 

Trump shared a video on his Truth Social platform on Tuesday that appeared to show footage from overhead drones of a speedboat at sea exploding and then on fire in Tuesday’s operation.

 

Venezuela Communications Minister Freddy Nanez suggested in a post on social media that the video shared by Trump was created with artificial intelligence.

 

Reuters conducted initial checks on the video, including a review of its visual elements using a manipulation detection tool that did not show evidence of manipulation. However, thorough verification is an ongoing process, and Reuters will continue to review the footage as more information becomes available.

'UFO' spotted off Swedish coast identified as wind turbine blade

The Swedish coast guard has identified a “UFO” – unidentified floating object – spotted floating off the coast as a wind turbine blade.

The coast guard posted on social media last week that it had been made aware of a large unknown object floating out at sea.

 

This was after a tip-off by the Swedish Maritime Administration and the Smögen Sea Rescue Society.

The size of the “‘UFO’ (Unidentified Floating Object)” was unclear but it was large enough to pose a danger to shipping, said the coast guard.

 

The crew of one of their ships towed the object to a port in the port town of Guleskär, near Sweden’s southern border with Norway.

Once it was on land, the coast guard said the object, which measured around 15 metres in length and 5 metres in width, was identified as most likely being part of a wind turbine blade.

Why the suspected blade was left floating out at sea and where it came from remains unclear.

 

Sweden has only a few offshore wind farms, with German utility RWE’s Kårehamn array, commissioned back in 2013, an example.

Sweden made headlines last year when it axed 13 planned wind farms over concerns they could interfere with its radar systems, amid heightened geopolitical tension with Russia.

Labour & Elbit’s £2 Billion Military Deal

 

Andrew Feinstein, Paul Holden and Jack Cinamon challenge why Israel’s largest arms firm and a company mired in a corruption scandal are even being considered for training British troops.

 

Britain’s Ministry of Defence might imminently award a 15-year contract, worth £2.5bn, to a consortium headed by the British subsidiary of the Israeli arms firm Elbit Systems and including the U.S. management consultancy firm, Bain and Company.

 

If successful, Elbit’s consortium would be responsible for training as many as 60,000 members of the U.K. military.

 

The consortium seems well-placed to win the contract; it is, in fact, one of only two shortlisted and preferred bidders.

 

The Ministry of Defence has already given the consortium a £2m contract so that it can develop its proposals further.

 

This is unacceptable. And it is frankly unbelievable that this consortium is even in the running considering its track record.

 

Elbit Systems UK is the fully owned subsidiary of Elbit Systems Limited. Elbit Systems Limited is headquartered in Tel Aviv and is listed on both the Israeli and U.S. stock exchanges.

 

Elbit is one of the two largest Israeli weapons manufacturers and is central to the IDF’s operations, providing 85% of its drones. Elbit International is also a major contributor to the F-35 fighter jet program, bragging that it plays a “critical role” in the “success of the world’s most advanced fighter jet.”

Seattle City Attorney sues Glock over converted handguns

 

"The Glock switch puts the public at risk, it puts children and families at risk, and it puts our law enforcement personnel and first responders at risk."

 

Seattle City Attorney Ann Davison announced Tuesday that she has filed a civil lawsuit in King County Superior Court against gun manufacturer Glock, Inc., its Austrian parent company Glock GES.m.b.H., and three local retailers authorized to sell Glock firearms.

 

The complaint names Pantel Tactical, Bull’s Eye Indoor Range, LLC, and Rainier Arms, LLC, alleging that the companies knowingly sell handguns that can be illegally modified into fully automatic weapons with the addition of a device known as a “Glock switch.”

 

According to the lawsuit, a Glock handgun fitted with a switch can fire up to 30 rounds in two seconds, creating what Davison described as a severe danger to the public. “The Glock switch puts the public at risk, it puts children and families at risk, and it puts our law enforcement personnel and first responders at risk,” Davison said in a statement. “Glock knowingly manufactures a gun that can very easily be converted into an automatic weapon. I will hold corporations putting public safety at risk as accountable as the criminals who violate our state and city laws.”

 

The filing argues that Glock’s design allows the small metal “sear” inside the handgun, which typically prevents rapid-fire discharges, to be bypassed with the addition of the switch. Other gunmakers, Davison said, use manufacturing techniques that prevent this type of easy conversion.

 

The city is asking the court to order Glock to modify its handguns so they cannot be converted to automatic fire with the simple application of a switch.

 

“Unlike its competitors, who choose to use different, safer standards, Glock chooses to prioritize profits over public safety,” Davison said. “I’m bringing this litigation because of the massive increase in gun violence caused by converted Glocks. By using this civil remedy, and continuing to use criminal prosecution community-wide, we will fight gun violence both upstream and downstream.”

 

Seattle police data cited in the lawsuit shows a significant rise in shell casings recovered at crime scenes, increasing from 2,514 in 2020 to 5,746 in 2023. The department also reported 38 incidents involving recovered Glock switches in 2024, up from 20 in 2023.

 

Last May, three people killed in Pioneer Square were believed to have been shot with weapons converted using Glock switches, according to authorities.

 

At the same time, the City of Seattle does not provide statistics on how many crimes are committed by re-offenders or convicted felons, leaving gaps in the public’s understanding of the role repeat offenders play in the city’s gun violence crisis.

State Comptroller Matanyahu Englman issued a harsh report Wednesday criticizing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, holding them responsible for failures in handling the civilian front since the outbreak of the Iron Swords war on October 7, 2023.

“Hundreds of thousands of residents experienced firsthand the failures of the government of Israel in managing the civilian domain during the Iron Swords war,” Englman wrote in the report published Wednesday dealing with the government’s management of civilian affairs during the war.

 

Netanyahu called the report “an irrelevant document” and its conclusions “baseless,” saying “the timing of its publication is puzzling and raises questions.”

 

Englman, who is expected to release additional reports in the coming weeks, responded: “The State Comptroller and the audit teams will continue fulfilling their public role despite attacks from the prime minister, the opposition chairman and other reviewed officials in recent times. Oversight of the political, military and civilian leadership will continue as I made clear from the outset.”

During tours across the country, Englman found shortages of manpower in essential factories, a lack of professional psychological support, a shortage of government representatives at sites housing evacuees, and failures in the payment of grants and compensation. Despite the National Emergency Authority’s assessment that civilian preparedness was “medium to good,” Englman said the government’s response required significant improvement.

Englman found numerous deficiencies in the performance of Netanyahu, ministers and other senior officials. Unlike most comptroller reports in recent years, this one specifically named officials tied to the failures and detailed the shortcomings for which each was responsible.

The ongoing failures, he wrote, came at the expense of ordinary Israelis in need of urgent assistance. Government decisions made after the outbreak of the war failed to achieve their goals and ultimately collapsed due to a dysfunctional framework lacking proper preparation.

Englman wrote that, throughout Netanyahu’s long years in office, he failed to ensure that longstanding gaps in civilian emergency management—known since the Second Lebanon War—were resolved, including through his power to set the government’s agenda. In particular, authority and responsibility for managing the civilian aspects of the home front during war were never fully defined.

Netanyahu, who has served as prime minister for 13 of the 14.5 years between March 2009 and the outbreak of the war, “was obligated to act to ensure a response to years of deficiencies in civilian emergency management,” Engelman wrote.

The report also criticized short-term premiers Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid. Bennett, during his year in office from June 2021 to June 2022, and Lapid, during his half-year tenure from June 2022 until December 2022, “did not act on this issue either.”

"Simply put, we are seeing too many people with faces uncovered," said Gavin Newsom — the Democrat governor who months later issued a statewide order expanding the mask requirement to most indoor and outdoor settings.

 

Newsom issued his order despite evidence that masks, like the COVID-19 vaccines, weren't as effective as some proponents liked to pretend.

 

For instance, the Centers for Disease Control's peer-reviewed journal, Emerging Infectious Diseases, published a study in May 2020 that found "no significant reduction in influenza transmission with the use of face masks."

1987 - 2022

 

Abrilliant mind left us when Amy Catherine Eskridge went to her eternal rest in the Lord on Saturday, June 11, 2022.

At just age 34, Amy already had a beautiful vision for life and the cosmos. She had a genius for science and questioned the conventional wisdom on everything from the universe to the nanoparticles of the atom.

She was also an astute entrepreneur as Chairwoman and President of The Institute for Exotic Science in Huntsville, AL, which she co-founded. Amy's passion for space grew from childhood in The Rocket City.

 

After her graduation from UAH with a double major in chemistry and biology, she became an interdisciplinarian and a master of electrical engineering, chemistry, physics, genetic engineering, and nanotechnology.

Amy is survived by her parents, Kathy and Richard Eskridge, brothers Matt and Michael Eskridge (Victoria). Amy was proceeded in death by her grandparents, Margaret and Russel Vance, and Marcella and Charles Eskridge.

Amy lived a life full of passion and wonder for the cosmos, and she was deeply loved by all who knew her.

 

Her dear friend Sam Reid, CEO of Geometric Energy Corporation, is naming the company's next Earth Orbit satellite and their DOGE-1 payload headed for the moon in October for Amy.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate in the name of Amy Eskridge to your favorite charity. The family will hold a celebration ceremony of Amy's life at 2 PM Sunday July 10 at Huntsville West, 3001 9th Ave SW, Huntsville, AL 35805.

We have been reporting on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform’s review of the investigations and prosecutions of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

 

To this end, the Committee has subpoenaed documents from the DOJ and Treasury, and will interview the likes of Ghislaine Maxwell, Bill and Hillary Clinton, former US Atty Alex Acosta, among others.

 

Today, House Oversight members also met with surviving victims of Epstein.

 

To cap a busy first day of work on the return of Congress from recess, the Committee also posted online the materials it has received so far from the Department of Justice.

What was immediately apparent, according to post shared by Benny Jonshon, was the fact that 9 days before his suspicious death, Epstein ‘did not appear to be an immediate threat to self’, according to a Bureau of Prisons Suicide Risk Assessment contained in the Oversight Committee’s Epstein file release.

Next UAP disclosure hearing set, as lawmakers consider new whistleblower protections

House lawmakers are reviewing new legislation that would codify distinct protections for whistleblowers who disclose information about any use of U.S. government funding to study “unidentified anomalous phenomenon material” — or matter associated with objects observed in air, space, or sea domains that cannot be immediately explained.

From UFOs to modern and transmedium UAP, the government has a complicated history in terms of its handling of reports about craft that appear to transcend the capabilities of existing technology, and records documenting related incidents.

 

But efforts to compel more transparency and oversight have continued to emerge in recent years, largely due to mounting public pressure and mandates from Congress.

The UAP Whistleblower Protection Act, introduced last week by Reps. Tim Burchett (R-TN) and Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), marks the latest move by lawmakers to help shield people who want to share information with Congress but fear retaliation — and motivate more of them to come forward.

 

A member of Burchett’s team told DefenseScoop in an email that the bill is identical to legislation put forward in November during Congress’ last session.

If passed, they said it would ultimately add “provisions for individuals to report on the use of taxpayer funds to evaluate or research [UAP] to existing whistleblower protection statutes.”

This version of the bill was referred to the House committees on Oversight and Government Reform, Armed Services, and Intelligence for consideration.

 

Burchett and Luna are among a small cadre of policymakers who have been steadily prioritizing whistleblower hearings, public engagement sessions and other legislative efforts to promote more accountability and disclosure from the intelligence community, Department of Defense and other agencies regarding UAP.

On Wednesday, Luna announced a hearing on “Restoring Public Trust Through UAP Transparency and Whistleblower Protection” that’s officially set for Sept. 9.

 

The Committee on Oversight and Reform’s Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets, which she chairs, will host the event next week.

Recurring transparency concerns and the effectiveness of the Pentagon’s All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) are among several topics that will be up for discussion.

 

The panel of four witnesses testifying will include two Air Force veterans — Jeffrey Nuccetelli and Dylan Borland.

“The American people deserve maximum transparency from the federal government on sightings, acquisitions, and examinations of UAPs and whether they pose a potential threat to Americans’ safety,” Luna said in a statement.

“Whistleblowers who provide details on spending information and policies and procedures regarding the classification and declassification of UAPs should be able to do so without retribution.”

An online debate has begun over September 2 footage shared by a man in southern Idaho that shows a strange, translucent object drifting at a low altitude east of Twin Falls. Gem State residents are no strangers to witnessing unusual objects in the sky.

A new video shared by a man near the community of Downey appears to show a 'jellyfish' like object moving slowly across the sky that some people are dismissing as a common tool used by meteorologists.

 

On average, Idaho is one of the leading states for reported cases of unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP) in the country, according to data found on the National UFO Reporting Center website.

Downey, Idaho, is located 150 miles east of Twin Falls. A single, male witness there claims his footage of a mysterious, circular object filmed floating behind a mountain is legitimate, and not some sort of artificial intelligence (AI) stunt.

Some who responded to his YouTube short over the past 18 hours are claiming the footage is nothing more than a weather balloon. These balloons are still used by weather scientists to study the Earth's atmosphere.

 

So far in 2025, there have been nearly 30 UAP reports filed by the NUFORC on witness claims in Idaho. Tuesday's case over Downey hasn't shown up on the active incidents archive on the center's website yet, but it might soon.

The witness claims to have footage of the same object over Utah that he's preparing to share with the public.

Tom Alexandrovich, 38, faces a charge of luring a child with a computer for sex acts, according to police. He posted a $10,000 bail at the Henderson Detention Center on Aug. 7 and left the country.

 

Alexandrovich is an Israeli government official who was in Las Vegas for a cyber event, the 8 News Now Investigators confirmed after his arrest.

 

Last week, Henderson Justice Court Chief Judge Barbara Schifalacqua ordered Alexandrovich to appear in court virtually for his initial arraignment. In court on Wednesday, Schifalacqua ordered Alexandrovich to stay away from minors and stay off applications or social media sites for dating.

 

Prosecutors did not ask Schifalacqua to increase bail and she kept the amount set at $10,000. Alexandrovich posted bail shortly after his arrest, court records showed. He paid “standard bail,” a process that allows defendants to pay the fee and waive their right to a probable cause hearing, which the justice court oversees. No judge was part of the standard bail process.

In the early modern period, a court Jew, or court factor (German: Hofjude, Hoffaktor; Yiddish: היף איד, romanized: Hoyf Id, קאַורט פאַקטאַר, Kourt Faktor), was a Jewish banker who handled the finances of, or lent money to, European,

mainly German, royalty and nobility. In return for their services, court Jews gained social privileges, including, in some cases, being granted noble status.

 

Examples of what would be later called court Jews emerged in the High Middle Ages[a] when the royalty, the nobility, and the church borrowed money from money changers or employed them as financiers.

Among the most notable of these were Aaron of Lincoln and Vivelin of Strasbourg.

Jewish financiers could use their family connections to provide their sponsors with finance, food, arms, ammunition, gold, and precious metals.[citation needed]

 

The rise of the absolute monarchies in Central Europe brought many Jews, mostly of Ashkenazi origin, into the position of negotiating loans for the various courts.

They could amass personal fortunes and gain political and social influence. However, the court Jew had social connections and influence in the Christian world mainly through the Christian nobility and church.

Due to the precarious position of Jews, some nobles could ignore their debts. If the sponsoring noble died, his Jewish financier could face exile or execution.

The most famous example of this occurred in Württemberg when, after the death of his sponsor Charles Alexander in 1737, Joseph Süß Oppenheimer was put on trial and finally executed.[1]

and established what eventually developed into full-fledged banks.[2]

 

Prohibited from nearly every other trade, some Jews began to occupy an economic niche as moneylenders in the Middle Ages. Only they were allowed to take interest on loans,

since—while the Church condemned usury universally—canon law was only applied to Christians and not to Jews. Eventually, a sizable sector of the Jewish community were engaged in financial occupations,

and the community was a financially highly successful part of the medieval economy.[3][4] The religious restrictions on moneylending had inadvertently created a source of monopoly rents,

causing profits associated with moneylending to be higher than they otherwise would have been.[5]

By most parameters, the standard of living of the Jewish community in Early Medieval period was at least equal to that of the lower nobility.[6]

The court Jews, as the agents of the rulers, and in times of war as the purveyors and the treasurers of the state, enjoyed special privileges.

They were under the jurisdiction of the court marshal, and were not compelled to wear the Jews' badge.

They were permitted to stay wherever the Emperor held his court, and to live anywhere in the Holy Roman Empire, even in places where no other Jews were allowed.

Wherever they settled they could buy houses, slaughter meat according to the Jewish ritual, and maintain a rabbi. They could sell their goods wholesale and retail, and could not be taxed or assessed higher than the Christians.

Android’s new rule requires all app developers to submit personal information to Google, even for apps outside the Play Store. Critics argue this threatens user freedom and ignores solutions…

 

Android, Google’s mobile operating system, announced on August 25 that it will be requiring all app developers to verify their identity with the organization before their apps can run on “certified android devices.”

 

While this might sound like a common-sense policy by Google, this new standard is not just going to be applied to apps downloaded from Google Play store, but all apps, even those “side-loaded” — installed directly into devices by side-stepping the Google Play store. Apps of the sort can be found online in Github repositories or on project websites and installed on Android devices directly by downloading the installation files (known as APKs).

 

What this means is that, if there is an application that Google does not like, be it because it does not conform to its policies, politics or economic incentives, they can simply keep you from running that application on your own device. They are locking down Android devices from running applications not with their purview. The ask? All developers, whether submitting their apps through the Play store or not, need to give their personal information to Google.

 

The decision begs the question, if you can not run whatever app you want on your device without the permission of Google, then is it really your device? How would you respond if Windows decided you could only install programs from the Microsoft app store?

 

The move has of course made news in tech and cybersecurity media and caused quite a stir as it has profound consequences for the free and open web. For years, Android has been touted as an open source operating system, and through this strategy has gained massive distribution throughout the world with users in developing countries where Apple’s “walled garden” model and luxury devices are not affordable.

 

This new policy will tighten up controls over applications and its developers, and threatens the freedom to run whatever software you like on your own device in a very subversive and legalistic way. Because of Google’s influence over the Android variety of phones, the consequences of this policy are likely to be felt by the majority of users and devices, throughout the world.

 

Android justifies the policy change with concerns about the cybersecurity of their users. Malicious apps side-loaded into devices have led to “over 50 times more malware,” Android claims in their announcement blog. As a measure of “accountability,” and with the council of various governments throughout the world, Android has decided to take a “balanced approach,” and the language couldn’t be more Orwellian.

Put in simpler terms, Google is looking to collect the personal information of software developers, centralizing it in its data centers alongside that of all of its users, in order to “protect” users from hackers that Google can’t seem to stop today in the first place.

 

After all, if Google and Android could actually keep personal user data secure in the first place, this would not be a problem, right?

 

Google’s solution to user data leaks is to collect more user data, ironically enough, in this case the data of developers who use the Android platform. A remarkable leap of logic, lazy and fundamentally decadent, a sign that they’ve lost their edge and arguably truly forgotten their now scrubbed “don’t be evil” motto.

Couldn't tell you. Started in early 2023.
