It’s the van Allen belts that convinced me. We did NOT know how much radiation was produced in the van Allen belts until 2013. The 1960s ‘scientific’ explanation of dealing with sending humans through a microwave oven for two hours with nothing but Mylar to protect them, by officially saying ‘we will go through them really fast’ doesn’t sound like enough science.
