Top Hamas official announces end to Gaza war

The organization has received “guarantees” from the US that the hostilities will not continue, Khalil al-Hayya has said

The Gaza war is over, a senior Hamas official, Khalil al-Hayya, has said, adding thatthe peace plan put forth by US President Donald Trump would mark the start of a “permanent ceasefire.”

The militant group received some “guarantees”from Washington and other mediators that the hostilities would not continue, he told Gaza residents in a televised address on Thursday.

According to al-Hayya, theGaza-based Palestinian militant group “dealt responsibly with the American president’s plan” and submitted a response aimed at preventing further bloodshed. He did not elaborate on the nature of the response but said that the deal, which was reached in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, includesproviding the Palestinian enclave with humanitarian aid, opening the Rafah border crossing, and exchanging prisoners.

“Everyone confirmed that the war has completely ended,” the official said, vowing to work with all national and Islamic forces to complete the next steps envisioned by the agreement.

His words came as the Israeli cabinet was still voting on the ratification of the agreement.National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said ahead of the vote that he and his party would oppose Trump’s peace planand would leave the government if Hamas is allowed to retain control over Gaza. He also described the release of Palestinian prisoners inexchange for Israeli hostages as an “unbearable price” to pay for the agreement.

Earlier media reports suggested that Israeli forces would be required to withdraw to a pre-set line within 24 hours, leaving Israel in control of around 53% of the Palestinian enclave.Hamas would release all living hostages within 72 hoursof West Jerusalem ratifying the deal. In return, Israel would free 250 Palestinians serving life sentences and 1,700 Gazans detained since 2023, including all women and minors.

According to Israeli Channel 12,West Jerusalem would only allow the prisoners to go free after the 72-hour period, during which Hamas is expected to release all Israeli hostages. The group still holds around 48 hostages; Israel believes that around 20 are still alive.

The Israel-Hamas war began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas-led fighters attacked the Jewish state, killing around 1,200 people, and taking around 250 hostages. Israel’s subsequent military operation in Gazahas killed more than 67,000 Palestinians, according to local officials. It also led to unprecedented destruction and a humanitarian disaster in the enclave.

Israel signaling to Iran via Russia – Putin

Moscow maintains close and trust-based relations with both West Jerusalem and Tehran, the Russian president has said

Russia is acting as an intermediary between Israel and Iran, President Vladimir Putin has said.West Jerusalem has turned to Moscow for assistance in conveying to Tehran its commitment to peaceand its desire to avoid confrontation, he added.

Moscow is working closely with Tehran to ease tensions around the Iranian nuclear program, Putin said at the Russia-Central Asia summit in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on Thursday.Russia also wants to help revive “constructive cooperation”between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Israel relies on Russia’s partnership with Iran to convey messages to the Islamic Republic’s leadership, Putin said.

“We continue our trust-based contacts with Israel and receive signals from the Israeli leadership asking us to convey to our Iranian friends that Israel, too, is committed to further de-escalation and is not interested in any form of confrontation,” the president said.

Moscow believes that diplomacy is the only wayto resolve the issues linked to the Iranian nuclear program, the Russian leader said.

Earlier this week, Putin spoke by phone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. They discussed a possible settlement to the Gaza war and US President Donald Trump’s peace proposals. The Iranian nuclear program and stabilizing the situation in Syria were also on the agenda, according to the Kremlin.

Russia offered its assistance in establishing dialogue between Israel and Iranfollowing the recent hostilities between the two nations. In July, Putin told Netanyahu that Moscow was ready “to contribute in every possible way to finding a negotiated solution” to the tensions surrounding Iran’s nuclear program.

Putin was among the few world leaders to contact both Israel and Iranimmediately after the first strikes between the two nations in June in an effort to defuse tensions. West Jerusalem and Tehran ended up exchanging strikes for 12 days. At the time, Moscow also proposed several compromise frameworks to all parties, according to Putin.

(President Trump said many world leaders helped with the negotiations! There is no doubt Russia was involved, and Putin even offered publicly to assist. In my opinion Trump and Putin have discussed every settlement since the beginning, because Russia tries to keep objection connections with all countries, along with Trump.)

Moscow and Washington remain in constant contact – Putin aide

The Alaska summit still serves as the foundation for the development of bilateral relations, an aide to President Vladimir Putin has said

Moscow and Washington remain in constant contact based on the “agreements and understandings” reached during the Alaska summit between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump,Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov has said.

We continue working with the Americans on the basis of the agreements reached by the presidents in Anchorage,” Ushakov told Russia’s Channel One on Thursday. The Russian and US administrations hold regular consultations, he added.

According to Ushakov, theagreements reached during the mid-August summit do not sit well with Kiev and its European backers– “those who do not want the Ukraine crisis to be resolved peacefully.”However, he emphasized that “this does not mean they are not working.”

Both the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Kremlinhave referred to a “pause” in dialogue between the US and Russia about settling the Ukraine conflict. On Wednesday, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said that the “powerful impetus” for the peace process generated by the Alaska summit had been extinguished, primarily by European “supporters of war.”

Although no breakthrough was achieved in Alaska, both sides hailed the meeting as constructive. Moscow has since emphasized that Kiev appears to lack genuine interest in peace. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said earlier on Thursday that Moscow’s peace proposals remained unanswered and that the process was “not moving forward.”

In recent weeks, Trump has also voiced frustration over the lack of progress toward a settlement. Late last month, he appeared to shift his stance, declaring that with sufficient European funding, Ukraine could capture all of its former territories – a position Moscow dismissed as unrealistic.

Russia maintains that it is open to a peace deal, provided that the realities on the ground and Moscow’s legitimate security interests are taken into account.Last week, Peskov said that Putin remains ready and willing to host Trump in Moscowas per the invitation extended after the Alaska summit. However, there are currently no plans for another meeting between the two presidents, the Kremlin said on Thursday.

Ukraine has lost 60% of gas output – Bloomberg

Kiev has reportedly told its Western backers it must import large volumes of gas to avert a winter energy crisis

Russian strikes have destroyed more than half of Ukraine’s gas production, forcing Kiev to seek over $2 billion in emergency importsto prevent a winter energy crisis, Bloomberg reported on Thursday.

Kiev told its Western backers this week that a Russian missile strike on the regions of Kharkov and Poltava on October 3destroyed around 60% of the country’s gas productioncapacity, the outlet wrote, citing anonymous sources.

The Russian Defense Ministry said earlier that on the night of October 3, its forceslaunched “a massive strike” against Ukraine’s military-industrial complex and the energy facilities supporting their operations.

Moscow maintains that its strikes are in response to Ukrainian attackson energy infrastructure and residential areas in Russia, and that it only targets sites linked to Ukraine’s military infrastructure.

According to Bloomberg,Ukraine expects that it will need to buy around 4.4 billion cubic meters of gas, worth €1.9 billion ($2.2 billion), to get through the winter– nearly 20% of its annual consumption.Kiev is seeking financial supportthis, the outlet added.

Ukraine’s Naftogaz said recent loans – including €500 million from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in August and €300 million from the European Investment Bank this month – are insufficient.

Ukraine has asked the G7 for energy repair equipment and renewed its demands for air defense systems.

Bloomberg notedthat greater EU gas supplies to Ukraine could strain the bloc’s market, with concerns already pushing prices up earlier this week. With inventories below historical norms, the EU remains vulnerable to supply shocks. A cold winter could quickly deplete storage and trigger new price spikes, increasing pressure on consumers.

Russia began striking Ukraine’s energy grid and gas production sites after Kiev bombed the Crimean Bridge in October 2022, killing four people. President Vladimir Putin has vowed that Russia would retaliate against Ukrainian attacks on energy facilities, which have intensified over the past year.

Italy set to ban burqas

Violation of the proposed restriction could reportedly lead to fines of up to €3,000, local media reports

Italy’s ruling party has called for a ban on Muslim clothingthat obstructs facial recognition in public places, according to a statement released by the Brothers of Italy party on Wednesday. Violations of the ban could result in fines of up to €3,000, local media outlets have reported, citing the draft proposal.

In addition to the complete ban on full-face veils in public places, schools, universities, offices, and commercial venues, the proposed measure imposes stricter rules on financial transparency in places of worship, making it easier to trace foreign funding. The draft also calls for banning so‑called virginity tests and harsher penalties for forced marriages, practices the party says violate human dignity.

The move seeks to “protect Italian identity, citizen security, and women’s freedom,” the right-wing ruling party said in a statement, arguing that the measure would not curb religious liberty, but prevent its misuse to justify practices contrary to the constitution and social norms.

The proposed measure provides “concrete tools to stop the spread of fundamentalist practicesand opaque financing that threaten security and social cohesion,” according to the party’s MP Galeazzo Bignami.

Italy already has a law, dating from 1975, that prohibits garments fully covering the face in public spaces, primarily targeting helmets or masks used for concealment rather than religious garb.

France became the first European country to fully ban the niqab in public places in 2011, introducing penalties such as fines or community service.Several other countriessubsequently implemented similar measures, including Belgium, Austria, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. The United Nations has warned that these bans could restrict religious freedom and risk further marginalizing women by limiting their participation in public. (Fuck the UN)

US attorney general demands top Democrat ‘apologize’ for Trump impeachment

Pam Bondi got into a heated argument with Senator Adam Schiff during her Senate testimony

US Attorney General Pam Bondi has demanded that Democratic Senator Adam Schiff apologize for attempting to impeach President Donald Trump. The two had a heated verbal exchange while Bondi was testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday.

Schiff led the first of the two unsuccessful impeachments of Trump during his first term. The president has repeatedly called the senator “Shifty Schiff” since, accusing him of corruption.

The senator, who is currently under Department of Justice (DOJ) investigation for mortgage fraud, accused Bondi of turning the department into Trump’s “personal swordand shield to go after his ever-growing list of political enemies.”

He also alluded to Trump’s alleged ties with notorious pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, and accused the DOJ of covering up a bribery investigation involving border czar Tom Homan, whom he accused of taking a $50,000 bribe from an undercover FBI agent last year.

Bondi argued that the investigation took place before she was appointed attorney general and that FBI head Kash Patel had repeatedly stated that there was no case against Homan.

As the back-and-forth intensified and both began interrupting each other, Bondi fired back.

“You know, Senator Schiff, if you worked for me, you would have been fired because you were censured by Congress for lying.”

Will you apologize to Donald Trump for trying to impeach him, after you now know that Joe Biden tried to cover up Hunter Biden’s involvement with Ukraine?

Earlier in the day, the CIA declassified files that showed that while vice president in 2016 Biden attempted to cover up a report on his family’s alleged corrupt business dealings in Ukraine.

He allegedly pressured Kiev into firing a prosecutor who was investigating Ukrainian energy firm Burisma, in which his son Hunter Biden held a lucrative board position.
