"Dominion Voting Systems, which was at the center of controversy following the 2020 election, was recently renamed "Liberty Vote" and was sold to new ownership late last month, the new owners announced Thursday. The voting technology company was sold to Republican Scott Leiendecker, a former director of elections for the city of St. Louis, The Hill reported.

The sale, which was finalized in September, makes Leiendecker the sole private owner. The cost of the sale was not disclosed.

“Liberty Vote signals a new chapter for American elections, one where trust is rebuilt from the ground up,” Leiendecker said in a statement. “Liberty Vote is committed to delivering election technology that prioritizes paper-based transparency, security, and simplicity so that voters can be assured that every ballot is filled-in accurately and fairly counted.”

NY AG Letitia James indicted over mortgage fraud claims: source

New York state Attorney General Letitia James was indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury in Virginia on a single count of bank fraud, a source familiar with the proceedings told The Post.

 

The indictment was handed up in Eastern District of Virginia, where former FBI Director James Comey was indicted Sept. 25 on charges of lying to Congress and obstruction of justice.

 

Federal housing regulator Bill Pulte referred James to the Justice Department in April, claiming that she “falsified records” to get sweetheart home loans for a Norfolk, Va. property she claimed as her “principal residence” in 2023 — while she was starting her second term as New York’s top prosecutor.

 

Pulte suggested that James had committed crimes including wire fraud, mail fraud, bank fraud and false statements to a financial institution, among other offenses.

 

James, 66, has called the allegations “baseless” and said she purchased the home with her niece, who uses it as her primary residence.

 

A rep for her office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

 

“What we’re seeing today is nothing less than the weaponization of the Justice Department to punish those who hold the powerful accountable,” Democratic New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said in a statement.

 

James won a civil judgment against the Trump Organization last year for allegedly inflating the value of his real estate empire. The president was ordered to pay $355 million in penalties but has appealed the ruling, which grew to more than $500 million with interest.

 

FBI investigators began the criminal probe in May after Pulte’s referral the previous month, which also contained allegations of James misclassifying her Brooklyn brownstone as having four units instead of five.

 

That could have given her more favorable loan terms on both the New York and Virginia properties, according to Pulte.

The Israel-Hamas war began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas-led fighters attacked the Jewish state,killing around 1,200 people, and taking around 250 hostages. Israel’s subsequent military operation in Gazahas killed more than 67,000 Palestinians, according to local officials. In 2021, James also purchased a 5-family Brooklyn property, but has "consistently misrepresented the same property as only having four units in both building permit applications and numerous mortgage documents and applications," the letter noted.

 

Loans secured for this property could have reduced her mortgage interest rate by as much as 1% - leaving James with lower monthly payments under the federal Home Assistance Modification Program (HAMP) since it was listed as containing just four units, according to Pulte.

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and officials at the Department of Health and Human Services have changed recommendations and policy for multiple vaccines, including shots against COVID-19 and measles.

 

Here’s what has changed so far.

 

COVID-19 Vaccines

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention now call for individuals to speak with a health care provider about risks and benefits before receiving a COVID-19 vaccine, a change approved on Oct. 6.

 

Kennedy wrote on X that the move amounted to “restoring informed consent.”

 

The CDC in May, under orders from Kennedy, stopped recommending COVID-19 vaccines for healthy children and pregnant women. But the agency still had near-universal recommendations in place.

 

The Food and Drug Administration later revoked emergency authorizations for the vaccines. The agency also approved four shots for narrower populations—those under 65 who have an underlying condition and all people 65 years of age and older.

 

The CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) then told the CDC to update its recommendations to individual shared decision-making, which emphasizes that vaccinations are “individually based and informed by a decision process between the health care provider and the patient or parent/guardian,” Jim O'Neill, the CDC’s acting director and the deputy health secretary, approved the recommendation.

 

Measles, Mumps, Rubella Vaccine

President Donald Trump recently encouraged people to take separate vaccines against measles, mumps, and rubella. Standalone options, though, are not available as of now in the United States. O'Neill on Oct. 6 backed Trump and called on manufacturers to produce monovalent vaccines against the diseases.

 

Kennedy told a Senate panel on Sept. 4 that he did not expect a change with the measles, mumps, rubella vaccine, known as MMR.

 

The United States in 2025 has recorded the most cases of measles since 1992.

 

Kennedy has said the vaccine limits the spread of measles and that people should get it, while raising concerns about side effects, which can include seizures and pneumonia.

 

Officials in Texas, the state that has recorded the bulk of the cases, announced on Aug. 18 that the measles outbreak there is over. New cases have been cropping up in other states, including South Carolina.

US attorney general demands top Democrat ‘apologize’ for Trump impeachment

Pam Bondi got into a heated argument with Senator Adam Schiff during her Senate testimony

 

US Attorney General Pam Bondi has demanded that Democratic Senator Adam Schiff apologize for attempting to impeach President Donald Trump. The two had a heated verbal exchange while Bondi was testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday.

 

Schiff led the first of the two unsuccessful impeachments of Trump during his first term. The president has repeatedly called the senator “Shifty Schiff” since, accusing him of corruption.

 

The senator, who is currently under Department of Justice (DOJ) investigation for mortgage fraud,accused Bondi of turning the department into Trump’s “personal swordand shield to go after his ever-growing list of political enemies.”

 

He also alluded to Trump’s alleged ties with notorious pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, and accused the DOJ of covering up a bribery investigation involving border czar Tom Homan, whom he accused of taking a $50,000 bribe from an undercover FBI agent last year.

 

Bondi argued that the investigation took place before she was appointed attorney general and that FBI head Kash Patel had repeatedly stated that there was no case against Homan.

 

As the back-and-forth intensified and both began interrupting each other, Bondi fired back.

 

“You know, Senator Schiff, if you worked for me, you would have been fired because you were censured by Congress for lying.”
