Aussie is STARTING a ship build industry by sending $$$$ to usa, and we will have some in 2030-2040 or somthink. takes YEARS to build a "boat" in the west these days. 12mths from order to delivery for an oil tanker or cruise ship is not bad.
Textiles? that ship / horse bolted already. How many shirts / dresses does one person REALLY need? how much to landfill?
Germany/Eu have no gas (pipline & pump gone), so German manufacture will shutdown soon, and many will freeze over winter. (part of (their) plan?)
usa = ~4% global = nothing reltively, ASEAN is HUGE, massive manufacture, competeing is NOT an option.
Selling 1's 7 0's to the world to control peeps = fool hardy, esp when needz a Nuke powerplant to make AI work & to make Lith batts…just BS sideshow.

Agree re needing to invent / manufacture, but thinking that can topple a global supply chain based on wishful thinking, not gonna work. If ships can be built in some country, good quality METRIC bolts etc, then let them do it, chasing that market is fruitless, eg making solar panels vs chyna. would cost Aussies a fortune to buy a panel / bettery whats the point of paying heaps more when chan buy cheaper, use that to dev something else. Aussie has lost many many pattern makers, tool 7 die makers etc but CNC sort of covers some of that. Main thing in anon opin, is to get rid of the red tap/ paperwork/regs BS, cut energy prices (how does the cost of elec go up anyhow? same genset. extra transmission should come out of profits, not extra consumer charges etc. First hail / winstorm & panel farms wiped out & maybe grid. Ali wind out at sea, watch the corrosion in ~5yrs. wind blades go to landfill also, so moar BS. Gas fired genset using NATURAL gas coming off core of planet = sustainable imho. & "s_ience" is NEVER decided/settled, it's peer reviewed.
