Maryland Democrat State Senator Charged with Extortion For Threatening to Release Explicit Video of Former Campaign Consultant’s Affair

A Maryland Democrat State Senator was charged with extortion for threatening to release a sexually explicit video of a former political consultant.

According to charging documents, State Senator Dalya Attar, her brother Joseph Attar, and Baltimore police officer Kalman Finkelstein conspired to release a video of a former campaign consultant in bed with a married man.

The purpose of the threat was to silence the campaign consultant and stop her from making any negative remarks about Dalya Attar that could harm her political ambitions after the two had a falling out.

Recording devices that looked like smoke detectors captured the victim’s affair. The unnamed consultant was staying in an apartment owned by Officer Finkelstein’s family.

Dalya Attar, an Orthodox Jew, sought to harm the political consultant’s effort to marry off her daughter. The smear campaign could damage the political consultant’s reputation because she is also a member of the tight-knit Jewish community.

Dalya Attar did not want the Orthodox Jewish community to be aware of her liberal voting record.

“She wants her daughters to get married more than she wants to screw me,” Dalya Attar wrote in a WhatsApp message, NBC News reported.

Dalya Attar was charged with multiple counts of conspiracy, extortion via interstate communications, aiding and abetting, and interception and disclosure of a wire, oral, or electronic communication.

Joseph Attar allegedly threatened the married man and told him that he commented on Dalya Attar’s voting record he would release the video.

“I’ll share this video with everybody you know, everyone she knows, every Rabbi in town, your kids, your wife, her daughters,” Joseph Attar allegedly told the consultant’s paramour.

Some of these positions no longer even exist according to a report by Luke Goldstein and Dan Boguslaw.

According to her latest financial disclosure, Norton lists positions on roughly half a dozen boards. However, when contacted, three organizations reported no recent contact with her, while two confirmed their boards had been dissolved years ago.

These revelations follow a troubling NBC4 report that obtained a police document detailing how scammers posing as HVAC repairmen defrauded Norton of $4,400 for services never performed. The report also noted that Norton has a caretaker with power of attorney who reported the fraud.

Norton, once a prominent civil rights leader who participated in the 1963 March on Washington, now appears to have outdated information on her ethics forms, suggesting her staff may be resubmitting portions automatically without updates.

Goldstein and Boguslaw observed that the boards Norton lists include the executive committee of the Yale Law School Association, the board of trustees for Antioch College, the lawyers committee for civil rights, and advisory boards at Georgetown’s Women’s Law & Public Policy Fellowship Program, American University’s Women and Politics Institute, and the Sewall Belmont House.

Repeated inquiries to these organizations yielded concerning responses. Norton was a founding member of Georgetown’s Women’s Law & Public Policy Fellowship Program and regularly hosted fellows for Capitol Hill lunches. However, according to a spokesperson, she hasn’t done so since 2019.

The Trump administration has whiffed its deadline to ban lab-made pandemic viruses by more than eight weeks, worrying biosafety hawks and undercutting assurances from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) that the policy remains on track.

A May executive order required a handful of multi-agency leaders to oversee producing new federal policies on gain-of-function (GOF) research by Sept. 2.

“The atom has been split in biology with COVID, but nobody seems to be talking about it with urgency,” said Sean Kaufman, CEO and founding partner of biosafety consulting firm Safer Behaviors.

The issue pits Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who has for years argued that an NIH-Wuhan Institute of Virology collaboration caused COVID-19, against NIH staff who adamantly oppose that view. In the middle stands NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya, whose promotion and protection of a member of Anthony Fauci’s inner circle and waffling statements have left some observers with a sense of déjà vu.

Even discounting weekends and holidays the 120-day deadline has passed by several days. About a month elapsed after the deadline before Democrats’ budget disputes on Capitol Hill shut down the government, inhibiting work on the policy.

Bhattacharya said at the May White House signing ceremony for the GOF executive order that the new rules would “make it go away forever.” But in an August podcast he made less strident comments, calling instead for “a calculation” in conversation with a top aide who described GOF as “sometimes really important.”

In 2016, NIH officials used internal bureaucratic manipulation to wrest control of GOF regulation from the White House and advanced a policy that scrutinized very few projects. Two officials involved in writing the pre-COVID policy that allowed funds to flow to Wuhan are directly involved in writing Trump’s policy now, according to emails described to the Daily Caller News Foundation by two former government insiders.

Some experts worry that the language of Trump’s EO is too ambiguous. It cedes much of the decision-making power to the heads of individual agencies like NIH and states that enforcement could include a 5-year ban from grants, half the maximum 10-year debarment period at HHS.

A spokesperson for HHS referred questions to the White House when reached for comment. The White House’s Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) did not respond to requests for comment.

Multiple law enforcement officers have been indicted in a yearlong conspiracy to traffic drugs across the state in exchange for money.

The FBI, including the head of the Jackson branch, joined the United States Attorney's Northern District of Mississippi in Oxford Thursday afternoon.

U.S. Attorney Clay Joiner said 20 people were indicted for taking bribes and aiding and abetting drug trafficking and associated crimes.

IDF’s top lawyer quits; says she approved leak of detainee abuse video

Defense minister had said Maj. Gen. Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi would be ousted over leaked Sde Teiman footage; new military advocate general to be selected soon

The military’s top lawyer, Maj. Gen. Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, announced her resignation from the Israel Defense Forces on Friday, acknowledging that she had approved the leaking of a surveillance video from the Sde Teiman detention facility, which purported to show soldiers severely abusing a Palestinian detainee last year.

Military Advocate General Tomer-Yerushalmi had been on leave from the IDF since a criminal investigation was launched by police earlier this week into the leaking of the surveillance video. She is expected to be questioned under caution in the coming days.

Tomer-Yerushalmi had prepared a resignation letter on Thursday, which she delivered to IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir during a meeting on Friday morning.

During their meeting, Tomer-Yerushalmi told Zamir that she was personally responsible for leaking the video to the media.

In her resignation letter, Tomer-Yerushalmi wrote: “I approved the release of material to the media in an attempt to counter the false propaganda directed against the military law enforcement authorities.”

“I bear full responsibility for any material that was released to the media from within the unit,” she said, adding that “from this responsibility also stems my decision to conclude my tenure as military advocate general.”

Before the announcement of her resignation, Defense Minister Israel Katz said that Tomer-Yerushalmi would be dismissed, although it is unclear if Katz has the authority to dismiss military officers.

“The military advocate general resigned, and rightly so,” Katz said in a later statement. “Anyone who spreads blood libels against IDF soldiers is not worthy of wearing the IDF uniform,” he added.

During their meeting with Zamir on Friday morning, Tomer-Yerushalmi asked to step down, the military said, adding that the chief of staff “accepted her request to end her position immediately and will act to stabilize the Military Advocate General and to protect IDF soldiers.”

“The chief of staff is confident that a thorough investigation will be conducted to uncover the truth,” the military added.

New footage shows settlers slaughtering sheep during attack on Palestinian village

The Times of Israel has obtained new footage of a settler attack earlier this week on a Palestinian hamlet in the South Hebron Hills of the West Bank, with the clip showing the brutal slaughter of sheep belonging to one of the residents.

The livestock belonged to Mahmoud Drameen, who identified the masked men as local settlers in a complaint filed to Israel Police on Wednesday. The complaint also included graphic security camera footage documenting the attack, which also caught the masked men smashing the windows of his car.

Drameen said a total of 10 sheep were killed or seriously injured, and some had their eyes gouged out.

No suspects have been arrested to date.

While livestock have been targeted in such attacks before, the gruesome nature of the footage points to an apparent escalation in settler violence, which has been taking place on a near-daily basis with overwhelming impunity from Israeli prosecution.

Recent attacks have even featured ATVs that far-right ministers of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government have boasted of providing to settlers in illegal outposts that have mushroomed across the West Bank over the last two years.

Pentagon cleared giving Ukraine long-range Tomahawk missiles, leaving final decision to Trump

The Pentagon has given the White House the green light to provide Ukraine with long-range Tomahawk missiles after assessing that it would not negatively impact US stockpiles, leaving the final political decision in President Donald Trump’s hands, according to three US and European officials familiar with the matter.

Trump said earlier this month during a working lunch with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House that he would rather not provide the missiles to Ukraine because “we don’t want to be giving away things that we need to protect our country.”

The Joint Staff informed the White House of its assessment earlier this month, just before Trump met with Zelensky who has been pushing for the missiles to more effectively target oil and energy facilities deep inside Russia. Tomahawks have a range of around 1,000 miles.

The assessment buoyed the US’ European allies, who believe that the US now has fewer excuses not to provide the missiles, two European officials said. Trump also said just days before meeting Zelensky that the US has “a lot of Tomahawks” that it could potentially give to Ukraine.

US and European officials were surprised, therefore, when Trump dramatically changed his tune days later, saying during opening remarks at a White House working lunch with Zelensky that the US “needs” the Tomahawks. He then told Zelensky behind closed doors that the US would not be providing them — at least not yet.

Trump’s decision came one day after he spoke by phone to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who told Trump that Tomahawks could hit major Russian cities like Moscow and St. Petersburg – would have no significant impact on the battlefield but would damage the US-Russia relationship, CNN has reported.

The White House and Pentagon did not return requests for comment.

Trump has not taken the missiles off the table altogether, sources previously told CNN, and the administration has drawn up plans to provide them to Ukraine quickly should Trump give the order. Trump has also grown so frustrated in recent weeks with Putin’s unwillingness to seriously consider peace talks that he approved new US sanctions on Russian oil firms last week and scrapped — for now — a planned meeting with Putin in Budapest to discuss Ukraine.

While the Pentagon doesn’t have concerns about stockpiles, US defense officials are still grappling with how Ukraine would train on and deploy the missiles, officials said. There are still several operational issues that would need to be resolved for Ukraine to be able to use the missiles effectively, the sources added.

India conducts cloud-seeding “experiment” to clear New Delhi’s smog

FBI Uses Secret Threat Category for Israeli Criminals Operating in U.S.

The agency has never publicly disclosed that it monitors organized crime syndicates based in Israel.

The FBI’s growing list of domestic threats has mutated in recent years to include every conceivable affiliation of Americans across the political spectrum: right-wing violent extremists, left-wing violent extremists, black identity extremists, and animal rights extremists. The current administration has even added nihilistic violent extremists—those who “believe in nothing”—to the laundry list. The Biden administration, for its part, aided in this exercise by vastly overstating the threat posed by Trump-aligned conservatives in the wake of January 6th. But neither Democratic nor Republican administrations have ever grandstanded about another significant threat group that the FBI secretly monitors on U.S. soil: Israeli Based Organized Crime Syndicates, or “IBOCS”.

Leaked FBI records and court filings detail widespread money laundering, taxpayer theft, and drug smuggling enterprises operated in the U.S. by Israeli citizens connected or belonging to Israeli crime groups. Despite the trickle of prosecutions over the past 25 years, the FBI has never publicly disclosed the fact that it has designated resources allocated to investigating these criminal organizations.

A 2020 FBI intelligence report from the “Blue Leaks” hack conducted by the hacker group Anonymous and archived by the nonprofit DDoSecrets describes IBOCS operating in Nevada and Florida embezzling money from the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP). IBOCS “have defrauded US Government relief programs and manipulated tax documents since at least 2015 to reduce tax liability and conceal money laundering activities, as well as have access to companies and agents, which are necessary to process PPP loan applications,” the report found.

The report also lists instances of IBOCS committing both disaster relief and tax fraud, and notes that IBOCS are involved in money laundering, extortion, illegal gambling, fraud, and narcotics trafficking in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, and New York, according to FBI investigations.

As far back as 2009, leaked State Department cables obtained by WikiLeaks detail one of the reasons why criminals belonging to or associated with Israeli crime families and syndicates have been able to operate inside America with ease: The State Department is not authorized to block their visas. The cables warn of the Israeli mafia taking on a growing role in the American trade of ecstasy, and of the loophole which prevents U.S. embassies from automatically denying Israeli crime figures travel documents.

Senate confirms Wilsbach as Air Force Chief

The former head of Air Combat Command will now lead the Air Force as its next top uniformed officer, following the surprise retirement of Gen. David Allvin.

The US Senate today confirmed Gen. Kenneth Wilsbach as the next Air Force chief of staff, paving the way for the fighter pilot to take the reins of his service following the abrupt retirement of Gen. David Allvin.

After a relatively uncontroversial hearing for Wilsbach before the Senate Armed Services Committee — though one where he would not commit to upholding congressional intent for billions of dollars in reconciliation spending — the general’s nomination cleared the upper chamber by unanimous consent alongside several other nominees.

It’s not immediately clear when Wilsbach will be sworn in as service chief. Allvin previously announced he would step down “on or about” Nov. 1, and held his retirement ceremony Oct. 10.

In a statement on X, Air Force Secretary Troy Meink said, “I want to welcome General Kenneth Wilsbach as the 24th Chief of Staff of the Air Force! With his vast experience in the Pacific and as a commander at all levels, he is the right leader for the” service.

Wilsbach is a fighter pilot by background, having flown aircraft like the F-22 Raptor, F-15 and F-16. He is now poised to guide the service during a critical window, as fears mount that China could invade Taiwan and invoke a US response. While heading Pacific Air Forces, Wilsbach commanded forces amid what he called “completely unprofessional and totally unsafe” intercepts by Chinese pilots.

Europol’s Core International Crimes Team supported Moldova and Ukraine in a second phase of war crimes investigation against members of Wagner and Redut mercenary groups

Europol supported the second phase of an investigation by the Moldovan Police and Ukrainian Police against Russian mercenaries. Europol’s Core International Crimes Team assisted national authorities in identifying suspects allegedly involved in war crimes. Europol’s EU Internet Referral Unit also supported the action day, which focused individuals involved in war crimes committed during Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.

Overall, the investigation led to the identification of a total of 654 members of the Russian private military companies Wagner and Redut involved in combat operations against Ukraine. These suspects include citizens of Ukraine, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. These individuals are believed to have committed war crimes such as acts of sexual violence, executions of prisoners of war and executions of civilians.

The action day on 29 October 2025 resulted in:

During the investigation, Ukrainian authorities shared with concerned countries, via Europol’s secure channels, 280 names of foreign nationals suspected of involvement in combat operations. Since the beginning of the investigation, national authorities uncovered recruitment and training sites, mapped command structures, and documented war crimes including the executions of civilians, the use of banned weapons, and attacks on Ukrainian cities. To date, 11 Ukrainian citizens have been indicted for high treason for joining the Wagner and Redut formations.

Europol's support

Europol supported the investigation by facilitating information exchange and providing specialised analytical support focused on the potential involvement of these individuals in war crimes committed in Ukraine. During the action days, Europol set up a virtual command post to facilitate communication among the involved authorities. It also strengthened intelligence gathering by comparing real-time operational data with its databases, including OSINT research.

The White House East Wing is currently undergoing a major facelift as President Trump’s July 2025 proposal to build a ballroom began earlier this month. The addition is expected to hold approximately 1,000 guests in the proposed 90,000 square-foot facility.

The new structure has met fierce scrutiny from the Mockingbird media and political opponents of President Trump given the timing of the development during a federal shutdown. Democrats in the Senate continue to withhold the necessary votes to pass yet another continuing resolution.

Meanwhile, the entirety of the $200-300 million project being funded not by the taxpayer but rather by donors and the President himself.

Failed presidential candidate Kamala Harris, who slid into that “nomination” without receiving a single Democrat vote in the primary, invoked starving babies in a vulgar rant on the Jon Stewart podcast when comparing it to Trump’s construction project.

Again: the continuing resolution is being held up by Democrats in the Senate, not Republicans. President Trump has no legal authority until the bill reaches the Resolute Desk.

Newsom, however, has his own problems with renovations and exorbitant costs in California’s state capitol. These issues, in fact, are funded by the taxpayers of California, in contrast to the “knock-off Versailles” funding at the White House.

As reported by KCRA 3’s Ashley Zavala, the California Capitol Annex project is coming under tremendous scrutiny in the Golden State. The years-long project that is estimated to cost taxpayers $1.1 billion has been less than transparent. In fact, according to Zavala, it has been “at least three years” since the California Legislature has provided any updates on the Capitol’s additions.

This week during a press conference, Newsom promised to “add a topic [to the] next conversation” with legislatures “around the annex.” Newsom proceeded to apologize for the lack of transparency from the Legislature and claimed he “didn’t know they weren’t talking” about the project.

During the off-topic question, Newsom called the White House construction a “desecration” and said the funding came under “curious circumstances” while claiming he had no knowledge of the lack of transparency regarding the annex project.

But Zavala had previously uncovered the creation of a three-member executive committee that meets “behind closed doors” to make decisions on the project. One member is directly tied to Newsom’s administration.

Speaking to Deep Dive: The Fall of the House of York, Lownie claims that during one taxpayer-funded trip to Thailand, the disgraced former prince had 40 prostitutes brought to his five-star hotel over just four days.

Lownie is author of the unauthorised biography, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, which chronicles Andrew's spectacular fall from grace.

He told Daily Mail columnist Sarah Vine that then-Prince Charles advised against giving Andrew the Trade Envoy role in 2001, warning he would just 'chase women and play golf'.

Lownie claims the now King was overruled by then-Prime Minister Sir Tony Blair and ally Peter Mandelson. So, in the midst of what Lownie describes as 'a midlife crisis', Andrew embarked on a series of taxpayer-funded trips that doubled as holidays.

'There was a famous trip to Thailand - for the birthday celebrations of the King. Andrew is representing his country and insists on staying in a five-star hotel rather than the embassy, which he always did.

Asked by host Vine about the 40 prostitutes claim, the historian said it had been verified by multiple sources including a Reuters correspondent and a member of the Thai royal family.

Yesterday, Buckingham Palace announced King Charles had initiated a formal process to strip Andrew of his Prince title and served formal notice for him to vacate Royal Lodge.

Beyond the sex, Lownie said his 'real concern' about Andrew during his time as Trade Envoy was him using the position to further his own business interests.

He called on the National Archive to release its files on the Prince's stint in the role, arguing there is 'a conspiracy of silence' around Andrew.

NACC chief Paul Brereton steps away from all defence investigations

The head of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), Paul Brereton, will step away from all defence-related corruption referrals following questions over his handling of perceived conflicts of interest.

The backdown, announced quietly on Friday evening, comes amid increasing pressure on the commissioner to address concerns about his military ties and their potential impact on corruption investigations involving Defence.

"The recent attention the Commissioner's Defence service and connections have attracted in some quarters has become a distraction from the Commission's work," the NACC statement said.

"As a result, the Commissioner has decided that he will not participate in consideration of any referrals which involve the interests of any Defence or ADF individual or unit that is or comes before the Commission, regardless of whether it might reasonably be perceived to involve a conflict. Those matters will be allocated to a Deputy Commissioner."

Last month the ABC revealed Mr Brereton had twice been given special permission to stay on in the reserves past retirement age so he could continue to provide high-level support to ministers and government agencies in relation to the Afghanistan war crimes inquiry.

This was despite previous assurances given by both Mr Brereton and Labor politicians he had stepped away from the body.

One Senate Estimates hearing in October was told Mr Brereton had "consulted" for the Inspector-General of the Australian Defence Force (IGADF) on 11 occasions since becoming head of the federal integrity watchdog.

While another was told neither the NACC CEO Philip Reed nor the NACC Inspector Gail Furness had been aware of the arrangement.

Prior to Friday's announcement, a spokeswoman for the NACC Inspector confirmed to the ABC that the integrity watchdog's oversight body had sought more details from the commissioner.

"The Inspector is requesting information from the NACC about matters that have been the subject of recent media reporting and the evidence of the NACC CEO before the Supplementary Budget Estimates 2025–2026 Hearing on 7 October 2025," she said.
