In a bizarre Halloween nightmare that stunned young trick-or-treaters, three adults allegedly robbed a group of costumed children of their hard-earned candy haul in Fallbrook, California, a scenic, middle-income neighborhood east of Camp Pendleton and home to many of Pendleton’s families.
The eldest of the children was the 16-year-old son of a Marine Corps officer. He was escorting his younger siblings, ages 7 and 10, and two other children on a Halloween safari when a dark sedan pulled alongside them, and two men in ski masks emerged from the rear seat. The diabolical duo rushed the kids, knocking the eldest to the ground and yanking from his hand a bulging bag of candy—a successful night’s spoils.
“That’s my candy now,” he shouted, according to a Camp Pendleton source familiar with the incident. “I ain’t got no EBT; you ain’t got no candy.”
His partner, who purportedly had a pistol in his hand, ordered the other children to drop their snack sacks, but the brave 10-year-old, dressed as Spiderman, tried to hold onto his stash, shouting, “This is mine!” He was no match, though, for his six-foot-two assailant, who tripped the child and absconded with the candy. The two men placed the sweets in the sedan’s trunk before getting back in the rear seat. The getaway driver gunned the engine and took off—but not before one of the children had memorized the license plate.
Deprived of candy and shellshocked, the children dashed home to relay the ordeal to their parents. The Marine Corps father, our source said, instinctively grabbed his personal sidearm and home defense rifle and drove around the neighborhood searching for the candy thieves, figuring they could be terrorizing other trick-or-treaters.
“He called 911 on his cell, but, you know, this is California. Crime is practically encouraged here. Anyway, he canvassed the area for over an hour but didn’t find the vehicle or see any other kids getting robbed. If the cops don’t share the license plate info with us, we have our ways of tracking it down,” our source said.
He continued: “One thing’s certain: This wasn’t about SNAP. That was an excuse for some—some, well, I don’t know any other way to say it, so I’ll just say it, niggers to terrorize our children.”
Asked how he could possibly know the thieves’ ethnicity—since they wore masks—he answered, “Because it wasn’t dark yet and the children saw the arms of one in a short-sleeve shirt. Don’t misquote me, I’m not slandering Blacks. Even the comedian Chris Rock said he, and he’s a Black guy, knows the difference between Black people and niggers. And whoever scared the kids were, well, you get it.”
