Followed the game via a Jays' mesage board and learned that Daulton Varsho (the poor sucker who wasn't ever pinch-hit for, therefore kept batting with men on base and utterly failing) is named after Darren Daulton, whose Phillies Joe Carter beat with his historic bottom of 9th game-winning homer in '93 (HATE that overly-abused term for such a homer; Glad anon avoids ALL MEDIA!)
Still feel sick for the poor sucker - never pinch-hit for. A damn pitcher would have had a better shot.
