Another Democrat Lawmaker Announces Retirement After Pelosi Calls it Quits: New Jersey Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman OUT For 2026

Another Democrat Representative announced retirement after Pelosi called it quits.

Democrat Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman on Monday announced she will not be running for reelection in 2026. She was first elected to the US House of Representatives in 2015.

The 80-year-old Democrat served over 50 years in public service in New Jersey.

Recall that Bonnie Watson Coleman was one of the New Jersey Democrats who stormed the Delaney Hall Detention Center earlier this year.

TGP’s Jordan Conradson confronted Coleman about her antics at the New Jersey ICE detention facility and she flipped out.

Good riddance.

“Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12) today announced that she will retire when her present term expires at the end of the 119th Congress. She will not seek re-election to a new term as the U.S. Representative for New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District concluding a remarkable, barrier-breaking career spanning over 50 years in public service to the State of New Jersey and the nation,” her office said in a statement.

“Today, I’m announcing that I will not seek reelection next year,” the Democrat said on X.

“I made a commitment years ago to always lead the charge on behalf of those I represent, and I believe I have fulfilled that commitment to the very best of my abilities. I have always stood on the frontlines in the fight for principled progressive policies and my work has centered on the belief that there must be a floor below which we should never allow any child, family, or person to fall,” she said.

“I believe in giving voice to truth, speaking truth to power, and I believe as a consequence of that, we have been able to effect real results that will be felt in communities across America for generations. I also believe now is the time to pass the torch to the next leader who will continue leading this charge,” she added.

Deputy Assistant Attorney General Michael Gates Resigns From DOJ — Returns to Huntington Beach to “Carry on the Critical Legal Battles”

Deputy Assistant Attorney General Michael E. Gates has announced his resignation from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division, effective November 24, 2025, after serving ten months under the Trump Administration.

In his resignation letter to Attorney General Pamela Bondi, Gates cited “much prayer, thought, and deliberation” in making his decision to step down.

Shortly after submitting his resignation, Gates posted on X:

“Headed back to Huntington Beach, CA! After 10 months of serving the country with much sacrifice away from the family and enduring very difficult circumstances, I have made the decision to return to Huntington Beach—to carry on the critical legal battles. I received the offer this past Friday and accepted with a start of November 24th. I am so grateful for the opportunity to work for the Trump Administration. We will Make America Great Again!”

Gates, who previously served as City Attorney of Huntington Beach for ten years, announced that he will return to California to continue fighting on behalf of his community and the state.

In his letter, Gates expressed deep gratitude to Attorney General Bondi and President Trump for allowing him to serve as Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division.

During his tenure, Gates prioritized protecting service members under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act, revived the “Protecting U.S. Worker’s Initiative” to safeguard American labor, and began vigorous enforcement of the National Voter Registration Act to clean voter rolls for future elections.

Gates also highlighted his role in dismissing politically motivated “Biden-era weaponization cases” and defending President Trump’s Executive Order to protect the integrity of American elections in Washington, D.C. District Court.

He personally argued several landmark cases, including those defending religious liberty.
