Prior Roles: Plaskett served as general counsel for the U.S. Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority (EDA), which oversaw a program that granted Epstein $300 million in tax breaks. She worked for the law firm of Erika Kellerhals, Epstein's tax attorney and adviser, before running for Congress.
Legal Scrutiny: Plaskett has been a defendant in a federal lawsuit brought by Epstein accusers, which alleged she accepted campaign donations and a loan in exchange for helping shield his operations. A judge dismissed claims against all other defendants except Plaskett, allowing some claims against her in her individual capacity to proceed. Her attorney has called the allegations "speculative, slanderous, and have no good faith basis".
Campaign Donations: Epstein donated to Plaskett's 2016 and 2018 campaigns. After public backlash following his 2019 arrest, she announced she would donate the equivalent amount to local charities
