Texas SB2420, known as the App Store Accountability Act, requires app stores to verify the age of users and obtain parental consent for those under 18. This law aims to enhance protections for minors using mobile applications and is set to take effect on January 1, 2026.

Former Federal Reserve Board Gov. Adriana Kugler violated stock trading rules, according to a report by the U.S. Government Ethics Office released Saturday.
The report follows Kugler's resignation in August, CNBC reported. Kugler was appointed by former President Biden in 2023, and her term was originally supposed to end in January.
Kugler filed a financial disclosure report on Sept. 11, which shows securities transactions, but the report notes on Oct. 10 that Ethics Office officials declined to certify it.
An Ethics official's note on the disclosure says that “matters related to this disclosure were referred earlier this year” by the office to the Office of Inspector General for the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.

Jewish communities must confront their complicity in Israel’s genocide
There’s a desperate need for a moral reckoning among the global Jewish population after more than two years of Israeli-inflicted horrors in Gaza.
From the mass starvation of Palestinians to AI- and cloud-enabled killing, Jewish complicity, both in Israel and across the Diaspora, has been a profound moral failure.
I write this as a Jew who has spent decades opposing Israel’s suffocating hold on the Jewish Diaspora, and as a man whose family was murdered by the Nazis in the Holocaust.
Since 7 October 2023, we have witnessed a genocide on our watch, as Jews and as citizens.
Now is the time for accountability – including international war crimes trials – not only for those who actively participated in it, but for Jews who wholly embraced the carnage from London to Sydney out of racism, fear, revenge or sheer bloodlust.
Never forget that those who committed the genocide in Rwanda in 1994 weren’t only the ones carrying out the physical violence; they also included those who promulgated hate speech on the radio.
With an Israeli Jewish population that overwhelmingly views all Palestinians in Gaza as suspect, if not outright hostile, the need for this moment is clear.
It’s hard to describe what the post-7 October 2023 environment has been like in many Jewish communities.
It has ranged from outright hostility towards any publicly expressed criticism of the Netanyahu regime to, perish the thought, any Jew disagreeing with the stated policies of an Israeli government that repeatedly announced its desire to eradicate all Palestinians.
And then there are the ethical contortions around the proper way a modern, humane Jew should feel about Israeli soldiers proudly celebrating killing, destruction and rape in Gaza, the West Bank and beyond.

US Tests Thermonuclear Bomb Without Warhead In Nevada Desert
The United States successfully carried out a test of the B61-12 tactical thermonuclear bomb - but using a non-nuclear, inert version - back in August, according to a newly released statement from Sandia National Laboratories under the US Department of Energy.
The tests took place in Nevada from August 19 to 21, which involved F-35 fighter jets deploying and releasing dummy versions of the bomb. The effort was conducted in partnership with the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).
The tests were deemed successful as they demonstrated that inert B61-12 gravity bombs could be transported and released by an F-35, seen as an important step in assessing the weapon system's capabilities.
The press release notes another milestone, as for the first time a joint test assembly underwent thermal preconditioning specifically for F-35 carriage before release, important for confirming that the B61-12 meets its environmental performance requirements under combined real-world conditions.
This latest testing comes soon after the NNSA completed a program to extend the service life of the aerial bombs by 20 years in late 2024. Defense News writes:
The B61 family of nuclear gravity bombs are deployed from U.S. Air Force and NATO bases and have been in the U.S. arsenal in one form or another for more than 50 years.
The test predates President Trump's late October statements announcing the resumption of US nuclear testing. He had written on Truth Social at the time, "Because of other countries’ testing programs, I have instructed the Department of War to start testing our Nuclear Weapons on an equal basis," the president stated. "That process will begin immediately."
This had apparently been in response to President Putin touting new nuclear tests, but the Kremlin has made clear these were not detonations, but simply nuclear-powered weapons systems which are capable of delivering nuclear warheads.

President Donald Trump, who has done a number of outdoor rallies in his time during politics, revealed how the assassination of Charlie Kirk changed his life personally and regarding security.
In a sit-down interview with the Washington Examiner, Trump said that he missed the rallies he used to do on the campaign trail. "The outdoor rallies. I love them, but I probably have to be careful. It's hard. The indoor rallies you can do," he said while touching on the final weeks of the campaign in 2024.
“The last four months were perfect. No days off, no nothing. I did either rallies, sometimes they did two rallies in a day. But in the last week, I’d do four or five rallies in a day. We had rallies at 8 o’clock in the morning. At 11 o’clock. At 1 o’clock. It was crazy. The only thing I was worried about was, will I lose my voice,” Trump added,
When asked about how the assassination of Kirk impacted him, Trump responded, “It impacted me terribly. Look, he was a great guy. He was for me all the way. All the way. It was so incredible when you heard it. I thought they must be wrong. It couldn’t be. And then when you saw the viciousness of it, but I don’t want to look at that. I mean, I got the whole picture."
The president added that he knew there was something special that Kirk had, “He had a mystique. He had something special over the young people attracted to him.”
He went on to explain his thoughts on the subject, “It was just hard to believe. He was a good person. He was not like somebody that’s a bad person. He was a hard worker. His wife is very good. Charlie really loved his wife."
Kirk was assassinated while he spoke to college students at the University of Utah campus. Tyler Robinson, 22, has been charged with Kirk's murder, and reportedly confessed to his family as well as others in the Discord group chat after the shooting took place on September 10.
There have also been two assassination attempts on Trump, and he said to the Examiner that doing the large outdoor events that he once did may not be possible anymore.

Australian fund managers who continue to invest in companies that supply weapons to Israel may be in breach of international law and risk prosecution.
Leading international law experts say Australia’s sovereign wealth fund could be complicit in genocide in Gaza if they continue investing in companies supplying weapons and technology to Israel.
Former Australian Human Rights Commissioner Chris Sidoti, who was a member of the UN Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, told MWM that both the government and private sector have clear obligations to avoid complicity in genocide.
“States like Australia, and the private sector too, are now on notice,” Sidoti said. “A UN Commission of Inquiry has found war crimes, crimes against humanity and the crime of genocide, and they have responsibilities arising from that.”
Tim McCormack, Professor of International Law at the University of Tasmania and former Special Adviser on War Crimes to the International Criminal Court, said the government must confront the legal implications of its inaction.
“We need a government that’s prepared to say we believe in the international legal order, and that means certain implications for us about having to draw lines in the sand when we see international law being violated egregiously,” he said.
Future Fund complicity
The Future Fund, Australia’s sovereign wealth fund, continues to hold shares in Elbit Systems despite extensive evidence that the Israeli weapons manufacturer is a key enabler of the IDF in the commission of genocide in Gaza as Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer.
During a Senate Estimates hearing last month, Future Fund CEO Raphael Arndt and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Will Heatherton were grilled about why the fund still invests in Elbit, whose drones are believed to have been used in the Israeli strike that killed Australian aid worker Zomi Frankcom.
Elbit Systems was added to the Fund’s exclusion list in 2018 for producing cluster munitions but was reinstated in April 2023 after what Heatherton described as a process of “due diligence, review and testing.”
“Through our process of regular due diligence, review and testing – as I mentioned, every six months – in 2023 it was identified that Elbit Systems was no longer involved in the activities that led it to be taken out of the portfolio, so it became investable once again,” said Heatherton.
When pressed about the concerns raised by several UN reports regarding the complicity of Elbit Systems in genocide, Heatherton stated that under the board’s policy “there is no reason to exclude the company, on the basis of conventions and treaties the Australian government has ratified”.
“In this particular case, Elbit is not subject to Australian or US sanctions and is not excluded under the exclusions framework adopted by the board,” he said.
Documents obtained via Freedom of Information provide insight into the Future Fund’s decision to maintain its investment in Elbit Systems following a MWM investigation on the matter.
