Putin and Netanyahu hold phone call ahead of UN vote on Gaza peacekeepers

The leaders discussed the implementation of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, the Kremlin said

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have spoken over the phone ahead of the UN Security Council vote on the deployment of peacekeepers in Gaza.

The Kremlin said on Saturday that "a thorough exchange of views took place on the situation in the Middle East region, including developments in the Gaza Strip in the context of implementing the ceasefire agreement and the exchange of detainees.” The leaders also discussed Iran’s nuclear program and the situation in Syria.

Netanyahu’s office released a shorter statement, saying that the Israeli prime minister and the Russian president had discussed “regional issues.”

Earlier this month, the US circulated a proposed resolution authorizing the deployment of the International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza for a period of at least two years and calling for the establishment of the so-called Board of Peace as a transitional governing body. On Friday, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Jordan, Türkiye, Pakistan, and Indonesia released a joint statement backing the American proposal.

Moscow has submitted an alternative proposal tasking the UN secretary general with drawing up options for implementing US President Donald Trump’s peace plan. The Russian mission criticized the American plan for lacking “instruments of oversight and control” over the stabilization force and not mentioning the two-state solution. It said that “only a truly equal and inclusive approach” can guarantee peace.

Both proposals are expected to be put to a vote on Monday.

No Ukraine ceasefire ‘this year’ – Finnish president

A truce or peace talks could take place by next spring, Alexander Stubb has said

A ceasefire in the Ukraine conflict or renewed peace talks are unlikely to take place this year, Finnish President Alexander Stubb told the Associated Press in an interview published on Sunday.

Kiev has “abandoned” direct peace negotiations with Moscow as they have made “little progress,” Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Kislitsa told The Times last week. The last Turkish-hosted round of talks took place in June.

“I’m not very optimistic about achieving a ceasefire or the beginning of peace negotiations, at least this year,” Stubb told AP.

“If we get something going by February, March, that would be good,” he added, calling on other sponsors of Ukraine to “maximize pressure on Russia.”

He called on Kiev’s backers to increase “financial support to Ukraine,” and to “finance military equipment… give, donate as we best can.”

When asked about the massive $100 million embezzlement scandal that shook the Ukrainian state-owned Energoatom firm earlier this week, Stubb said that he hopes Vladimir Zelensky gets the affair “sorted and cleared.”

“Obviously there’s no place for corruption, especially in a country which is in war,” he said.

The scandal has so far seen two Ukrainian ministers fired and one of Zelensky’s long-time associates, Timur Mindich, flee the country ahead of an anti-graft agency probe.

Kiev’s Western sponsors have long raised concerns about corruption in the country.

Following the scandal, Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini argued that foreign aid sent to Ukraine risks just padding corrupt officials’ pockets.

“I would not want the money of Italian workers and pensioners to be used to fuel further corruption,” he said on Friday.

The idea that sending arms to Ukraine could allow it to “regain the lost ground is naïve, to say the least,” he added.

Russian forces have sped up their advance in Kharkov and Donetsk Regions in recent months, taking ground and encircling Ukrainian forces in two key cities.

Despite the military gains, the Kremlin has stressed that it prefers a diplomatic solution to the conflict.

Israel’s Anti-Muslim Hasbara And Its Agenda To Eliminate Free Speech

Lurking behind an ongoing campaign to drive fear of an alleged Muslim terrorism threat is a legislative initiative that seeks to use terrorist designations to silence those critical of Israel, led by pro-Israeli influencers and think tanks. Not only is this a disinformation effort aimed at salvaging Israel’s image amongst conservatives, but it is also designed to attack free speech.

In July, the Israelis initiated a new propaganda campaign that clearly sought to capture the minds of right-wingers, particularly in the United States. This followed the release of Pew Research data in April, which found that 50% of Republicans under the age of 50 had unfavorable views of Israel.

Free Speech

The strategy began to unfold in three separate parts. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu organized an appearance on the Nelk Boys podcast, attempting to revive his image amongst younger conservative audiences. He then lined up a series of interviews on corporate broadcast networks, followed by a string of other right-wing mainstream alternative media shows like the PBD Podcast and other YouTube channels.

Simultaneously, back in July, a legislative push was also underway. A bill called H.R. 4397, or the “Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation Act of 2025” was introduced to Congress and had been lobbied in favor of by pro-Israeli Washington-based think tank, the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD), and Christians United for Israel (CUFI).

Another element of this strategy had been inviting influencers on paid trips to Israel and paying them to post propaganda. Also in July, Haaretz News revealed that the Israeli foreign ministry was planning to fund 16 right-wing influencers to go on propaganda tour trips to Israel, with the aim of bringing around 550 in total on such trips by the end of the year.

By October, the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft then published a story that revealed how Israel had been “paying a cohort of 14–18 social media influencers around $7,000 per post to promote the country’s image in the American public.” This campaign was nicknamed the ‘Esther Project’, a title eerily similar to the infamous ‘Project Esther’ of the Heritage Foundation — the think tank that is known to be the most influential over the Trump administration.

The Project Esther: A National Strategy to Combat Antisemitism document was published on October 7, 2024, and lays out a range of initiatives to achieve its goals of collapsing the pro-Palestine movement in the United States. The following is the summary to that document:

“America’s virulently anti-Israel, anti-Zionist, and anti-American “pro-Palestinian movement” is part of a global Hamas Support Network (HSN) that is trying to compel the U.S. government to abandon its long-standing support for Israel. Supported by activists and funders dedicated to the destruction of capitalism and democracy, the HSN benefits from the support and training of America’s overseas enemies and seeks to achieve its goals by taking advantage of our open society, corrupting our education system, leveraging the American media, coopting the federal government, and relying on the American Jewish community’s complacency. The National Task Force to Combat Antisemitism intends to enlist all willing and able partners in a coordinated effort to combat the scourge of antisemitism in the United States.”

Government moves to appoint own probe into Oct. 7, nixing state commission of inquiry

Cabinet decision says ministers will determine commission’s mandate; Lapid accuses coalition of ‘doing everything it can to escape the truth and evade responsibility’

The government on Sunday decided to establish its own probe into the failures surrounding Hamas’s October 7, 2023, onslaught rather than the state commission of inquiry traditionally formed to investigate such events and supported by a majority of Israelis.

Despite being touted as an “independent” investigation, the government commission’s mandate will be determined by cabinet ministers, and the government will strive for its makeup to receive “as broad public approval as possible,” Hebrew media reported.

It will reportedly have “full investigative authority,” although the scope of that authority was not publicly specified.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will form a special ministerial panel that will be in charge of determining the commission’s mandate, including the topics and timeframes that will be probed. The ministerial panel will have 45 days to submit its recommendations to the government.

The government has long opposed the establishment of a state commission of inquiry into the October 7 onslaught, originally on the grounds that such an inquiry could not be conducted while Israel was at war, but later due to accusations that the Supreme Court could not be trusted to appoint a fair-minded judge or retired judge to head the panel.

JPMorgan Chase settled two lawsuits related to its dealings with Epstein for a total of $290 million:

A. A $75 million settlement with the U.S. Virgin Islands, which accused the bank of enabling Epstein’s trafficking operation.

B. A separate settlement, totaling $290 million, with a group of Epstein’s victims. These lawsuits alleged that JPMorgan ignored red flags and continued providing services to Epstein despite knowing about his activities.

Where there are $2 billion worth of sex trafficking transactions and $290 million in settlements for victims, that means there are pedophiles, there are Bill Clintons, there are Bill Gates’, there are Prince Andrews, there are clients. Funny how Democrats didn’t even utter a single word.

Trump Demeans US Office of the Presidency in order to Serve Netanyahu

Last Wednesday President Trump pressured Israel’s President Isaac Herzog to pardon Netanyahu before his corruption trial is over. The trial has been off and on as Netanyahu’s wars heat up and cool down. Trump’s pressure on Herzog, little doubt at Netanyahu’s request, indicates that Trump and Netanyahu do not expect trial to exonerate Netanyahu.

The case against Netanyahu was brought by the Israeli judicial system and is based on evidence of fraud, acceptance of bribes, and breech of trust. Trump in his letter to Herzog dismissed the case as “political” and “unjustified prosecution.”

The Western media, such as Melanie Lidman at AP, presents the case as “undue American influence over internal Israeli affairs,” whereas in fact it is Netanyahu’s undue influence over the American president.

Is there to be no end of Trump’s tow-kowing to Israel? Trump was the first to break the rule and acknowledge Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Trump committed an act of war against Iran for Israel. Trump supports Israel’s genocide of Palestine, supplying the money, weapons, and diplomatic support. Trump claims a ceasefire despite Israel’s continuing bombings, shootings, and destruction of Palestine. Trump has turned against US Rep. Thomas Massie, one of his earliest supporters, for refusing to follow the Israeli line. Trump has demanded that universities prevent students and faculty from criticizing and protesting Israel’s massacre of Palestinians and theft of their country. And now Trump weighs in against the Israeli judicial system in a way that gives a green light to corruption.

Earlier there was some indication that Trump had in mind substituting an American Middle East empire in the place of Greater Israel, but now it seems that Greater Israel will be the majority partner. With most Arab states destroyed and Israel occupying southern Syria, Netanyahu has turned again to Israel’s war against Hezbollah for Lebanon. The remaining Arabs, small oil kingdoms, are being lined up for the American-backed Greater Israel project. The project has the support of a large chunk of MAGA-Americans who are Christian Zionists and believe that it is America’s God-imposed duty to support the advancement of Israel.

The border of Greater Israel formerly was from the Nile to the Euphrates. The Netanyahu government has expanded the border to include half of Saudi Arabia and all of Pakistan.

Formerly I wondered how tiny Israel could occupy such a vast territory. Then it dawned on me that Israel occupies the much larger territory of the United States by occupying the financial sector, entertainment, education, Congress, and US foreign policy. Israel has succeeded in identifying any criticism of Israel as anti-semitism and is succeeding in having Congress and states pass laws that criminalize anti-semitism. As Israel has no trouble controlling the US and brags loudly of its power to do so, Israel will have no trouble controlling divided Arabs who have no strong countries or leaders.

October Foreclosure Filings Jump 20% YoY

Now, ATTOM is reporting a 20% monthly spike in October vs. 2024 - marking the eighth straight month of YoY increases.

Breaking it down:

There were 36,766 US properties with some type of foreclosure filing in October, which include notices of default, scheudled auctions, or bank repossessions - a 3% rise over September of this year, and a 19% jump vs. Oct. 2024.

Foreclosure starts - the initial phase of the process, were up 6% vs. September and were 20% higher than October 2024.

Completed foreclosures - the final phase, jumped 32% YoY for October.

That said, Attom CEO Rober Barber doesn't think it's a big deal.

"Even with these increases, activity remains well below historic highs. The current trend appears to reflect a gradual normalization in foreclosure volumes as market conditions adjust and some homeowners continue to navigate higher housing and borrowing costs," said Barber.

Similar to last month's report, Florida, South Carolina and Illinois led the nation in state foreclosure filings. City-wise, the following metro areas led the pack:

Tampa, FL

Jacksonville, FL

Orlando, FL

Riverside, CA

Cleveland, OH

When it comes to completed foreclosures, Texas, California and Florida had the most - suggesting that those states will see more inventory available for sale at distressed prices. As CNBC notes, there's strong demand for houses in these price ranges, so it's likely that those foreclosed properties won't last long on the market.
