Putin and Netanyahu hold phone call ahead of UN vote on Gaza peacekeepers

The leaders discussed the implementation of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, the Kremlin said

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have spoken over the phone ahead of the UN Security Council vote on the deployment of peacekeepers in Gaza.

The Kremlin said on Saturday that "a thorough exchange of views took place on the situation in the Middle East region, including developments in the Gaza Strip in the context of implementing the ceasefire agreement and the exchange of detainees.” The leaders also discussed Iran’s nuclear program and the situation in Syria.

Netanyahu’s office released a shorter statement, saying that the Israeli prime minister and the Russian president had discussed “regional issues.”

Earlier this month, the US circulated a proposed resolution authorizing the deployment of the International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza for a period of at least two years and calling for the establishment of the so-called Board of Peace as a transitional governing body. On Friday, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Jordan, Türkiye, Pakistan, and Indonesia released a joint statement backing the American proposal.

Moscow has submitted an alternative proposal tasking the UN secretary general with drawing up options for implementing US President Donald Trump’s peace plan. The Russian mission criticized the American plan for lacking “instruments of oversight and control” over the stabilization force and not mentioning the two-state solution. It said that “only a truly equal and inclusive approach” can guarantee peace.

Both proposals are expected to be put to a vote on Monday.

No Ukraine ceasefire ‘this year’ – Finnish president

A truce or peace talks could take place by next spring, Alexander Stubb has said

A ceasefire in the Ukraine conflict or renewed peace talks are unlikely to take place this year, Finnish President Alexander Stubb told the Associated Press in an interview published on Sunday.

Kiev has “abandoned” direct peace negotiations with Moscow as they have made “little progress,” Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Kislitsa told The Times last week. The last Turkish-hosted round of talks took place in June.

“I’m not very optimistic about achieving a ceasefire or the beginning of peace negotiations, at least this year,” Stubb told AP.

“If we get something going by February, March, that would be good,” he added, calling on other sponsors of Ukraine to “maximize pressure on Russia.”

He called on Kiev’s backers to increase “financial support to Ukraine,” and to “finance military equipment… give, donate as we best can.”

When asked about the massive $100 million embezzlement scandal that shook the Ukrainian state-owned Energoatom firm earlier this week, Stubb said that he hopes Vladimir Zelensky gets the affair “sorted and cleared.”

“Obviously there’s no place for corruption, especially in a country which is in war,” he said.

The scandal has so far seen two Ukrainian ministers fired and one of Zelensky’s long-time associates, Timur Mindich, flee the country ahead of an anti-graft agency probe.

Kiev’s Western sponsors have long raised concerns about corruption in the country.

Following the scandal, Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini argued that foreign aid sent to Ukraine risks just padding corrupt officials’ pockets.

“I would not want the money of Italian workers and pensioners to be used to fuel further corruption,” he said on Friday.

The idea that sending arms to Ukraine could allow it to “regain the lost ground is naïve, to say the least,” he added.

Russian forces have sped up their advance in Kharkov and Donetsk Regions in recent months, taking ground and encircling Ukrainian forces in two key cities.

Despite the military gains, the Kremlin has stressed that it prefers a diplomatic solution to the conflict.

Israel’s Anti-Muslim Hasbara And Its Agenda To Eliminate Free Speech

Lurking behind an ongoing campaign to drive fear of an alleged Muslim terrorism threat is a legislative initiative that seeks to use terrorist designations to silence those critical of Israel, led by pro-Israeli influencers and think tanks. Not only is this a disinformation effort aimed at salvaging Israel’s image amongst conservatives, but it is also designed to attack free speech.

In July, the Israelis initiated a new propaganda campaign that clearly sought to capture the minds of right-wingers, particularly in the United States. This followed the release of Pew Research data in April, which found that 50% of Republicans under the age of 50 had unfavorable views of Israel.

Free Speech

The strategy began to unfold in three separate parts. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu organized an appearance on the Nelk Boys podcast, attempting to revive his image amongst younger conservative audiences. He then lined up a series of interviews on corporate broadcast networks, followed by a string of other right-wing mainstream alternative media shows like the PBD Podcast and other YouTube channels.

Simultaneously, back in July, a legislative push was also underway. A bill called H.R. 4397, or the “Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation Act of 2025” was introduced to Congress and had been lobbied in favor of by pro-Israeli Washington-based think tank, the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD), and Christians United for Israel (CUFI).

Another element of this strategy had been inviting influencers on paid trips to Israel and paying them to post propaganda. Also in July, Haaretz News revealed that the Israeli foreign ministry was planning to fund 16 right-wing influencers to go on propaganda tour trips to Israel, with the aim of bringing around 550 in total on such trips by the end of the year.

By October, the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft then published a story that revealed how Israel had been “paying a cohort of 14–18 social media influencers around $7,000 per post to promote the country’s image in the American public.” This campaign was nicknamed the ‘Esther Project’, a title eerily similar to the infamous ‘Project Esther’ of the Heritage Foundation — the think tank that is known to be the most influential over the Trump administration.

The Project Esther: A National Strategy to Combat Antisemitism document was published on October 7, 2024, and lays out a range of initiatives to achieve its goals of collapsing the pro-Palestine movement in the United States. The following is the summary to that document:

“America’s virulently anti-Israel, anti-Zionist, and anti-American “pro-Palestinian movement” is part of a global Hamas Support Network (HSN) that is trying to compel the U.S. government to abandon its long-standing support for Israel. Supported by activists and funders dedicated to the destruction of capitalism and democracy, the HSN benefits from the support and training of America’s overseas enemies and seeks to achieve its goals by taking advantage of our open society, corrupting our education system, leveraging the American media, coopting the federal government, and relying on the American Jewish community’s complacency. The National Task Force to Combat Antisemitism intends to enlist all willing and able partners in a coordinated effort to combat the scourge of antisemitism in the United States.”

Cabinet decision says ministers will determine commission’s mandate; Lapid accuses coalition of ‘doing everything it can to escape the truth and evade responsibility’

The government on Sunday decided to establish its own probe into the failures surrounding Hamas’s October 7, 2023, onslaught rather than the state commission of inquiry traditionally formed to investigate such events and supported by a majority of Israelis.

Despite being touted as an “independent” investigation, the government commission’s mandate will be determined by cabinet ministers, and the government will strive for its makeup to receive “as broad public approval as possible,” Hebrew media reported.

It will reportedly have “full investigative authority,” although the scope of that authority was not publicly specified.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will form a special ministerial panel that will be in charge of determining the commission’s mandate, including the topics and timeframes that will be probed. The ministerial panel will have 45 days to submit its recommendations to the government.

The government has long opposed the establishment of a state commission of inquiry into the October 7 onslaught, originally on the grounds that such an inquiry could not be conducted while Israel was at war, but later due to accusations that the Supreme Court could not be trusted to appoint a fair-minded judge or retired judge to head the panel.

And now Trump weighs in against the Israeli judicial system in a way that gives a green light to corruption.

Earlier there was some indication that Trump had in mind substituting an American Middle East empire in the place of Greater Israel, but now it seems that Greater Israel will be the majority partner. With most Arab states destroyed and Israel occupying southern Syria, Netanyahu has turned again to Israel’s war against Hezbollah for Lebanon. The remaining Arabs, small oil kingdoms, are being lined up for the American-backed Greater Israel project. The project has the support of a large chunk of MAGA-Americans who are Christian Zionists and believe that it is America’s God-imposed duty to support the advancement of Israel.

The border of Greater Israel formerly was from the Nile to the Euphrates. The Netanyahu government has expanded the border to include half of Saudi Arabia and all of Pakistan.

October Foreclosure Filings Jump 20% YoY

Now, ATTOM is reporting a 20% monthly spike in October vs. 2024 - marking the eighth straight month of YoY increases.

Breaking it down:

There were 36,766 US properties with some type of foreclosure filing in October, which include notices of default, scheudled auctions, or bank repossessions - a 3% rise over September of this year, and a 19% jump vs. Oct. 2024.

Foreclosure starts - the initial phase of the process, were up 6% vs. September and were 20% higher than October 2024.

Completed foreclosures - the final phase, jumped 32% YoY for October.

That said, Attom CEO Rober Barber doesn't think it's a big deal.

"Even with these increases, activity remains well below historic highs. The current trend appears to reflect a gradual normalization in foreclosure volumes as market conditions adjust and some homeowners continue to navigate higher housing and borrowing costs," said Barber.

Similar to last month's report, Florida, South Carolina and Illinois led the nation in state foreclosure filings. City-wise, the following metro areas led the pack:

Jacksonville, FL

Orlando, FL

Riverside, CA

Cleveland, OH

When it comes to completed foreclosures, Texas, California and Florida had the most - suggesting that those states will see more inventory available for sale at distressed prices. UK plans to drastically tighten asylum rules – Home Secretary

The new proposal includes reduced protections for refugees and an end to automatic benefits for asylum seekers, according to Shabana Mahmood

London plans to sharply scale back protections for asylum seekers and make them wait two decades to apply to stay for goodas part of a major policy overhaul, Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood told The Sunday Times. She said the UK is struggling to manage a steady influx of new arrivals.

Under the existing rules introduced in 2005, refugees in Britain receive five years of status before they can apply for indefinite leave to remain, or permanent residence, and eventually citizenship.Mahmood wants to cut that initial period in half and introduce regular reviews to assess whether individuals remain eligible for asylum. Those whose home countries are deemed safe would be instructed to return.

For refugees who arrive illegally, the waiting period to apply for indefinite leave would be quadrupled to 20 years. “Illegal migration is tearing our country apart,” Mahmood said. “If we don’t sort this out, I think our country becomes much more divided.”

Asylum claims in Britain have reached a record high, with about 111,000 applications filed in the year to June 2025, according to government data. The number of claimants has nearly doubled since 2021, a Home Office report found.

Those who arrive legally would face a 10-year wait.The policywould allow skilled refugees to shorten the waiting time by entering “specific”work or study routes. “It will be essentially a system whereby the more you contribute, you can bring forward that period,” Mahmood said.

No Ukraine ceasefire ‘this year’ – Finnish president

A truce or peace talks could take place by next spring, Alexander Stubb has said

A ceasefire in the Ukraine conflict or renewed peace talks are unlikely to take place this year, Finnish President Alexander Stubb told the Associated Press in an interview published on Sunday.

Kiev has “abandoned” direct peace negotiations with Moscow as they have made “little progress,” Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Kislitsa told The Times last week. The last Turkish-hosted round of talks took place in June.

“I’m not very optimistic about achieving a ceasefire or the beginning of peace negotiations, at least this year,” Stubb told AP.

“If we get something going by February, March, that would be good,” he added, calling on other sponsors of Ukraine to “maximize pressure on Russia.” (This is stupid because Russia will accelerate the war, they’ve already won. EU doesn’t care about more dead Ukrainians.)

Extensive UFO collection lands in Vancouver to be auctioned off

If the truth is out there about UFOs, it’s probably at Jeff Schwarz’s Direct Liquidation warehouse in East Vancouver.

Schwarz is auctioning off the extensive collection of Chris Wyatt, a Californian who produced documentaries such as “UFOs: Above and Beyond” in 1997 and “Close Encounters: Proof of Alien Contact” in 2000.

There are filmed interviews for documentaries, a binder full of UFO photos from around the world, and all sorts of photocopies of documents from U.S. government bodies such as the FBI and the National Security Agency about unidentified flying objects.

The highlight of the collection is a 1947 yearbook for Roswell Air Force Base in New Mexico, where the remains of a UFO and its alien crew were allegedly taken after it crashed nearby.

“It’s extremely historically important,” said Wyatt over the phone from southern California. Why? Because the yearbook shows everyone who was at the base at the time of the UFO incident — and Wyatt said the air force rounded up copies and destroyed them.

Wyatt said he went to Roswell in 1997 as a guest of former U.S. government physicist Bob Lazar and film director Roland Emmerich, who had made the blockbuster UFO film “Independence Day.”

Wyatt had a late-night rendezvous with several military officers who were in Roswell at the time of the alleged UFO incident.

“One of the gentlemen was on his deathbed,” he recounts. “He pulled me aside and said, ‘Listen, when the crash happened, one of the first things they did at Roswell Air Force Base was to confiscate all the yearbooks.

“They were afraid that if the press got ahold of them, they would find out (the truth). The military officers would be hounded by the press. They didn’t want the media to know who was there, and they wanted to cover it up.”

But the man kept a duplicate copy he had received.

“The gentleman kept it for a number of years and gave it to me. He said, ‘Listen, you’re the guy to take this public.’”

It’s not like a regular high school yearbook — near the front is a full-page photo of a nuclear detonation and the resulting mushroom crowd. Underneath are the words “A Bombs Away.”

There appears to be another copy of the yearbook at the Walker Aviation Museum in Roswell. But to people who believe in the Roswell UFO story, Wyatt’s copy is gold.

So is a binder full of photos collected by Lt.-Col. Wendelle Stevens, an air force officer who dedicated his life to studying UFOs after he retired.

The photos are largely snapshots from the public. There is even a photo of a cylindrical UFO flying in the sky around Vancouver on Oct. 17, 1992. It’s identified as being taken by “anon(ymous) teens.”

Looking through the collection is like taking a crash course in UFO-ology.

There are dozens of books and magazines about UFOs, from a 1950 paperback called “The Flying Saucers Are Real” by Donald Keyhoe to the 1998 book “The Aliens and the Scalpel: Scientific Proof of Extraterrestrial Implants in Humans” by Dr. Roger K. Leir.

There are interviews with and books by physicist Bob Lazar, who said he worked at a secret U.S. government site that UFO enthusiasts call Area 51.

Lazar claims his job was to “reverse engineer” UFO technology. The collection includes a screenplay for “The Bob Lazar Story”, a proposed movie.

Non-believers dismiss Lazar as a conspiracy theorist, though. By selling the collection, Schwarz may be accused of the same thing, but it doesn’t bother him.

“I think people are going to think I’m completely crazy,” said Schwarz, known for the reality TV series The Liquidator. “(But) it needs to be seen. And once people see it, they’re going to understand it.”

How did it wind up in Vancouver? Schwarz’s associate Mike McCune knew Wyatt and thought Direct Liquidation would be a good place to handle the auction, because the company sells almost anything.

At a recent auction of Olympic memorabilia, for example, Schwarz sold a local collection of over 30 Olympic torches, some from Vancouver, others from places such as Salt Lake City and Los Angeles. Some brought $300, others up to $1,500.

Schwarz and McCune are still dividing all the UFO material into lots, but hope to have the sale in a month or two.

But who will buy it?

“One of the things that they specialize in is Hollywood auctions,” says Wyatt. “So they have a large database (of potential buyers). There’s going to be enthusiasts, people wanting to round out their classic UFO magazines or archives.”

If you believe in UFOs, or government conspiracies, it does seem to be the kind of collection the government doesn’t want you to have.

Asked if he has ever had a visit from government officials, Wyatt replies, “Multiple times. But that’s not something I’m talking about in the press.”

Anti-Zelensky protest held in Kiev (PHOTOS)

The rally came after the Ukrainian leader’s close associate was implicated in a $100 million kickback scheme and fled the country

Around 200 Ukrainians took to the streets of Kiev on Saturday to protest corruption and demand the resignation of Vladimir Zelensky after investigators alleged that a former close associate of the country’s leader had played a central role in a kickback scheme in the energy sector.

The anti-corruption probe by the country’s Western-backed National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) had uncovered an alleged $100 million embezzlement scheme involving the state-owned nuclear energy firm Energoatom.

Investigators linked the controversy to Timur Mindich, who co-owned the production company Kvartal 95 with Zelensky before the latter left show business to dedicate himself to politics. According to officials, his network extracted kickbacks of 10-15% from contractors and exerted influence over key contracts.

Mindich – often described by the Ukrainian media as “Zelensky’s purse” – fled the country just hours before his apartment was raided by security officials – likely warned about the coming operation.

The protest, which took place on Independence Square in Kiev, featured signs reading “Zelensky – criminal,” “President resign,” and “No corruption,” and also showed support for detained anti-corruption detective Ruslan Magomedrasulov, who played a key role in the probe but was accused of having ties with Russia.

The rally was organized by anti-corruption activist Maria Barabash, who said she would stage protests every week until the head of Zelensky’s office, Andrey Yermak, steps down, Timur Mindich is extradited from Israel along with other fugitive suspects, and real judicial reform is launched.

Commenting on the scandal, Zelensky downplayed his past ties with Mindich without mentioning his name, but said he supports “any effective actions against corruption.” Meanwhile, Zelensky’s aide, Mikhail Podoliak, blamed the corruption scheme on “Russian influence,”without offering evidence to support his stance.

The controversy comes after Zelensky spearheaded a law this summer that curbed the independence of NABU and the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO), prompting large protests in Ukraine and criticism from Kiev’s Western backers. Following the backlash, Zelensky later supported and signed legislation restoring NABU and SAPO’s independence.

Mysterious UFOs Appear Over Fujian, China in Bizarre Light Display

According to Guizhou TV’s “People’s Attention”, citizens of Zhangzhou City in Fujian Province reported that on Feb. 10 around 8:00 p.m., they saw extremely bright objects, UFOs, moving very fast in the sky—more than one or two.

Witnesses said that at first, they only saw point-like unidentified flying objects (UFOs) in the sky. After spreading out, they formed a straight-line formation.

The first reaction was to think they were drones. Later, one became two, and then more than ten lined up. Suddenly, they formed a circle and immediately disappeared.

Citizens all agreed these were not drones. Mr. Zhang said: “The object formed a point in the sky, then spread and lined up in a straight line.

At first, I thought it was a drone—it was very bright. It went from one to two, then straight in a line, and when it multiplied to more than ten, it suddenly became a circle. It didn’t feel like a drone, or a kite or anything like that.”

He added: “Its speed was incredibly fast—astonishing. It only appeared for about ten seconds before completely disappearing.

I happened to look up and it was very close to me. When it formed a circle, it was a bit farther away. It didn’t look like fire.”

A person filming said: “I looked up and suddenly saw two rows of red dot-like things in the sky. They flashed for less than a minute. It was very shocking.”

Another said: “It was around 8 p.m. last night in front of my house. It looked a bit like a wish lantern or something like Starlink.”

Videos and photos from the scene show the UFO in Fujian moving extremely quickly and in an orderly trajectory, like a series of small burning balls.

However, this unusual display only lasted about ten seconds before vanishing completely—unlike a rocket’s tail flame or a meteor.

The Fujian UFO quickly went viral on social media, trending and sparking various speculations. Some netizens said: “Around 7:50–8:00 p.m. yesterday, there were continuous rumbling sounds outside for about 20 minutes, then it stopped.”

Others speculated: “Isn’t this just Elon Musk’s Starlink? Starlink satellites are only lined-up stars in the sky. They aren’t this bright, and their reflection off clouds doesn’t look like this.”

The article notes that Starlink’s trajectory doesn’t form a circle. According to citizens’ feedback, the object started as a line, then two lines, then a circle—it seemed like one object gradually becoming visible. When it was fully revealed as a circle, it immediately disappeared.

Other netizens pointed out that UFO sightings have been happening in many areas: Tianjin, Beijing, Cangzhou in Hebei for three consecutive days, as well as Fuzhou in Jiangxi, the Fujian-Guangzhou border, Chongqing, Anhui, Xinjiang, Gansu, Inner Mongolia, Datong in Shanxi, and Heilongjiang.

A similar incident occurred the next day. Videos showed small flashing lights forming circles in the sky, resembling UFOs often depicted in movies. On Sept. 14, citizens in Beijing also filmed large, continuously flashing UFOs in the clouds.

Despite public speculation, the Zhangzhou city government and relevant departments claimed to be unaware of the phenomenon. As of Feb. 11, 2025, the exact nature of these mysterious UFOs remains unknown.

Sightings continue to increase

In recent years, UFO sightings on Earth have increased. U.S. Congressman Mike Burchett recently discussed the possibility of extraterrestrial life, citing a Navy admiral who reported alien vessels moving underwater at incredible speeds.

Burchett has long believed the U.S. government is hiding information about UFOs and extraterrestrial activities. In April 2024, after attending a classified UFO briefing, he stated that the government is deliberately concealing information.

Harvard social science researchers recently suggested that extraterrestrial life may have already been on Earth, with UFOs and other unexplained aerial phenomena as possible evidence.

Researchers outlined four arguments for coexistence with extraterrestrials. Former U.S. Department of Defense UFO expert Luis Elizondo, in his August 2024 book, suggested that aliens may have plans to invade Earth, acting like a military force preparing for combat.

Additionally, British media reported on Jan. 31 that a Reddit user posted a satellite image of Antarctica showing what looked like an alien face in the southeastern Oates Land region.

The image has been circulating online since 2019, with coordinates 72°00’36.0” S, 168°34’40.0” E.

West eager to finish Russia as a great power – John Mearsheimer

The US political scientist argues that President Putin has figured out the plan and has every reason not to trust Western leaders

Western governments continue to pursue policies aimed at weakening Russia to the point ofpermanently diminishing its status as a great power, according to John Mearsheimer, a political science professor at the University of Chicago.

Moscow has long described the hostilities in Ukraine as a Western proxy war against Russia, in which Ukrainians are being used as “cannon fodder.”

Russian officials have argued that the US and other Western powers intentionally escalated tensions by disregarding the Kremlin’s security concerns over NATO’s expansion in Eastern Europe and its growing military cooperation with Kiev.

In an interview with the host of the Daniel Davis Deep Dive YouTube channel on Friday,Mearsheimer said that Western governments’ objective has been “to defeat Russia and Ukraine, wreck the Russian economy with sanctions, and bring the Russians to their knees.”

“We’ve been unable to do that, but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to do it, of course, we want to do it,” he stated.

“If the opportunity to do it popped up tomorrow, we would leap at it in a second, we would love to finish Russia off as a great power,” the political theorist said,emphasizing that Moscow is fully aware of how existential the Western threat is.

Mearsheimer further noted:“[Russian President Vladimir] Putin, the last time I checked, has a triple-digit IQ, and that means he’s figured this out, he understands what he’s dealing with.”

The professor argued thatPutin has every reason not to trust either US President Donald Trumpor the European leaders, as he “is assuming worst case in good realist fashion.”

Multiple Western officials have publicly described the Ukraine conflict as a proxy war against Russia in recent months. Keith Kellogg, a Ukraine policy envoy under Trump, reiterated that view earlier this year while warning against supplying long-range cruise missiles to Kiev. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has used the same term, and the Kremlin has agreed with his characterization.
