But IF i asked for ONE modern-ish upgrade, it would be a diesel-electric drivetrain, regen breaking, and some onboard capacitance.
I can't think of what could be better than than all things considered. Plug into shore for a little grid pricing, AND have some 110/220 outlets around the truck for the jobsite or power backup anywhere. this shit is NOT complicated if We really want to figure it out…
