In a couple hours, we'll be rolling out About This Account globally, allowing you to see the country or region where an account is based. This will be accessible by tapping the signup date on profiles.

 

This is an important first step to securing the integrity of the global town square. We plan to provide many more ways for users to verify the authenticity of the content they see on X.

 

And for those in countries where speech has penalties, we've included privacy toggles to only show your region.

I have discovered that an account can hide their location information by switching it to a protected account. In which case, I presume, one could only see the location information if you are a follower of that account. Attached a couple of screencaps that are unrelated to previous statement. But some might find interesting.

No, if they are you will see a shield with an exclamation mark off to the right of the country or region name. These just have the "i" info icon.

 

Some of these are lying about their location. Check the main profile page to see what I mean.

This feelz so guud right now. Finally seeing some of these accounts exposed on X as the overseas agitators that they are. We put up with their crap for sooo long on that site. Thanks Elon and X team.

Now before you freak out, Steve actually told us he had traveled to Spain several weeks ago. Will be watching to see it update location when/if he returns to the US.
