CIA Senator Elissa Slotkin Attempts to Change Conversation Away from Seditious Video Promotion

November 23, 2025 | Sundance | 332 Comments

CIA Analyst and Senator, Elissa Slotkin, appears on ABC’s Face the Nation to defend herself from accusations of unlawful conduct following a video she produced telling military and intelligence officers to defy President Trump’s orders.

Senator Slotkin’s behavior is classic tradecraft when she appears in media.

Slotkin claimed the video was intended to draw attention to the unlawful orders that President Trump has used;however, when asked to give an example of a illegal order issued by President Trump, Slotkin nervously admits there aren’t any. WATCH (prompted):

There is such things as illegal orders. That’s why it’s in the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Going back to Nuremberg, right? And it’s just a — it’s a totally benign statement. And if the president is concerned about it, then he should stay deeply within the law. But I think it’s important to know it’s not hypothetical, right?

This president in the last administration, his last administration, asked his secretary of defense and his chairman of the Joint Chiefs to, quote, “shoot at their legs at unarmed protesters in front of the White House that he wanted moved.”

RADDATZ: Actually, I know I know you’re talking about Mark Esper’s book. He didn’t exactly say that. He said the president suggested that, but they were never ordered to do that.

SLOTKIN: And he got out of the Oval Office quickly so that he wasn’t told to actually do it. And I give him a lot of credit for that. I give him a lot of credit.

RADDATZ: I do — so — so, let’s talk right now. Do you believe President Trump has issued any illegal order?

SLOTKIN: To my knowledge, I am not aware of things that are illegal, but certainly there are some legal gymnastics that are going on with these Caribbean strikes and everything related to Venezuela. And I think that’s why —

RADDATZ: And be specific about that. Let me read you what Senator Lindsey Graham said about your video. “You owe it to the men and women in the military to be specific about what you are talking about. What these senators and House members did was unnerving and it was unconscionable to suggest that the President of the United States is issuing unlawful orders without giving an example.”

SLOTKIN: Yeah. So, for me, my primary concern is the use of U.S. military on American shores, on our city — in our cities and in our streets. We’ve seen now the courts overturn the deployment of U.S. military into our streets, including here in Washington, D.C.

When you look at these videos coming out of places like Chicago, it makes me incredibly nervous that we’re about to see people in law enforcement, people in uniformed military get nervous, get stressed, shoot at American civilians. It is a very, very stressful situation for these law enforcement and for the communities on the ground. So, it was basically a warning to say, like, if you’re asked to do something particularly against American citizens, you have the ability to go to your JAG officer and push back.…

(That sounds very insurrectiony lies to me, as Trump said Hegseth and Military are investigating this, and more she admits they basically insinuated a crime, knowing their wasn’t, doesn’t bode well for these corrupt lawmakers.)

No secret that the president is trying to weaponize’ the DOJ: Sen. Slotkin

Part two Slotkin further talking only makes them look like insurrectionists. Radditz for the first asked probing questions. They could have asked for a meeting with Trump, but they didn’t, so they intentionally chose to do it this way. Question: how is it possible the Republicans didn’t know what they were planning and doing?

RADDATZ: And with these service members calling you, couldn’t you have done a video saying just what you just said? If you are asked to do something, if — if you are worried about whether it is legal or not, you can do this. It does imply that the President is having illegal orders, which you have not seen.

SLOTKIN: I think for us, it was just a statement widely, right? We say very quickly and very — to all the folks who come to us, this is the process. Go to your JAG officer, ask them for explanation, for top cover, for their view on things. We do that on a case-by-case basis, but we wanted to speak directly to the volumes of people who had come to us on this.

RADDATZ: And it is very clear that no one should follow an illegal order, but it’s very murky when you look at what is an illegal order. And if you go into morally, ethically, that’s a pretty tough thing to look at and say, how do I navigate this?

SLOTKIN: I don’t — I mean, going back to Nuremberg, right, that, well, they told me to do it, that’s why I murdered people, is not an excuse. If you look at popular culture, like, you watch, you know, A Few Good Men, like we have plenty of examples since World War II in Vietnam, where people were told to follow illegal orders, and they did it, and they were prosecuted for it.

So, the best thing for people to do is go to their JAG officer, their local law enforcement or a legal officer in their unit, and ask for some explanation, ask for help. And that’s what we’ve been advising people to do.

RADDATZ: You are on the Senate Armed Services Committee. What are you seeing in terms of Venezuela? Do you think there will be further action by the president?

SLOTKIN: Well, certainly the sheer size of the military buildup in and around Venezuela. I mean, you have to assume that when superpowers put that much force into an area that they’re going to use it. They brought in aircraft carriers, they brought in F-35s.

I think the cost already is a billion dollars to move all that force into theater. Certainly, if we’re going to actually think about prosecuting some sort of war or military action against the mainland of Venezuela, I would hope that the president would want to have that conversation publicly, bring in the American people who are not looking to get into another war, who are not looking to get into regime change. We had Iraq and Afghanistan. I think people generally on all sides of the aisle are exhausted by war. But just have that conversation, be transparent about it. I think that’s what’s been hard about the strikes in the Caribbean.

Many of us would be supportive of going after drug cartels, but a secret list of secret terrorist organizations, you know, just be transparent with the American public.

RADDATZ: OK, thanks very much for joining us this morning, Senator. We appreciate it.

(I think there are serious motivations of usurpation of the President’s and Commander in Chiefs powers. Why didn’t they go to talk to him with their concerns. It’s a lie that they thought of to subliminally insert that into people’s psyche, for a revolution they want to start.)

Sunday Talks – Senator Mark Warner Not Happy with Ukraine Peace Proposal – Video and Transcript

1/2

November 23, 2025 | Sundance

Sometimes it pays to remind what Marco Rubio said back in February, “Ukraine is a proxy war between the U.S. and Russia.” From that context the remarks from SSCI Vice-Chair, Senator Mark Warner, make sense.

Warner appears on ABC News ‘This Week’ to denounce the peace proposalnow being negotiated in Geneva, Switzerland between Secretary Rubio and the Ukrainian delegation.Senator Warner makes it clear he will not accept the end to conflict in Ukraine. Video and Transcript Below:

[TRANSCRIPT] – Senate Intelligence Committee Vice Chair Mark Warner joins me now.

Good to see you this morning, Senator.

SEN. MARK WARNER (D-VA), INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE VICE CHAIR: Good morning, Martha.

RADDATZ: What is your reaction to this peace proposal that is on the table?

WARNER: My reaction is it’s awful. It would make Neville Chamberlain’s giving in to Hitler outside of World War II looks strong in comparison. The fact that this was almost a series of Russian talking points, would require Ukraine to give the — totality of the Donbas, parts they still control, cut back their military forces going forward, never be able to join NATO.

This would be a complete capitulation. And it’s why I think you’re hearing from Congress, both sides, people pushing back. And, obviously, the Europeans feel like they’ve been totally left high and dry.

MARTHA RADDATZ, ABC “THIS WEEK” CO-ANCHOR: You’ve heard the deadline from President Trump, but then him saying that’s not — there’s room for negotiation here, it seems like. So, what do you think happens after today (ph)?

WARNER: I think what happens — it feels like this was a plan that they took almost entirely from the Russians, did no consultation with Congress, no consultation with the Europeans, obviously didn’t read in Zelenskyy and the Ukrainians, and now they’re getting ferocious pushback. So, one more time, Trump is changing his deadline.

Of course, how he picked Thanksgiving to start with, I have no idea. But now it — even with this — some of this back and forth that it’s not really an American plan, or isn’t an American plan, this is the kind of chaos that, unfortunately, represents so much of the Trump foreign policy.

(Everything he says is a lie. Continued)

2/3

RADDATZ: So, what do you think President Zelenskyy should do? He’s been through this before. It’s kind of back and forth with this White House. They support you. They pull it back. Do you think all of this, this proposal, which seems to heavily favor Russia, is that just a starting point again?

WARNER: Well, I would hope — I would hope so. Again, the Ukrainians have performed magnificently in the field. And they are reinventing the nature of warfare in terms of use — use of drones. To have this proposal forced upon them, I think as Zelenskyy said, Ukrainian dignity versus giving up a partner, I would hope the president would not be so weak as to try to force this plan on the Ukrainian and our other allies. It would, I think, send not only a horrible signal for Europe, but the person who’s watching this probably the most closely is President Xi in China. And if the Americans are willing to throw in their towel so much like this on Ukraine, you can bet that Xi is thinking, this gives him a clearer path in terms of taking Taiwan.

RADDATZ: But what does Zelenskyy do here? If on Thursday the president says, I’m telling you right now, take what we’ve got on the table and — and there will probably be some changes, or we’re done. What — what does Zelenskyy do, just hope that Europe rises and helps him out?

WARNER: Well, let’s — let’s, again, you have overwhelming support still for Ukraine. The last Ukraine aid package had 80 percent of the Congress. I think the president is seeing this one-sided plan kind of blow up in his face with pushback from the Ukrainians, from the Europeans, from members of Congress of his own party. And my hope is, he’ll come back and be a bit more reasonable.

RADDATZ: I want to turn to Venezuela. We’re all watching that this week. What can you tell us about what you think happens now. We’ve got this massive buildup. We’ve got this massive show of force. We have airline who aren’t — that aren’t flying there because of all the activity and the military activity right now.

Do you expect something more to happen?

WARNER: Well, historically, the United States’ intervention in Central America or South America has not always rolled out the way we’d hope. Maduro was a bad guy, frankly, under Biden. When the Venezuelan people voted in overwhelming numbers, Biden should have put more pressure on getting Maduro out then. It was a mistake.

But now, to have this much armed forces, we have not been briefed on any military action that would have been authorized. He keeps putting the word out that maybe he has authorized, maybe he’s not. We are trying to get the answer on that. But there is a real question. You know, to take this big a fleet, bring our largest aircraft carrier, put them there to further blow up boats that they claim have drugs on them, frankly they could have interdicted some of those boats and shown the world that there were drugs.

In terms of Venezuela, the legal opinion about the drug run — drug running doesn’t touch Venezuela at all. So, the president would have to come back and brief us.

RADDATZ: Trump says he’ll be speaking with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. Do you think that is a good idea? And what can you say to him?

WARNER: Because I think the notion that Trump says he’ll talk to anyone, I think that is — I’m not going to critique him on that, if there’s a way to push Maduro out. Remember, our government and fifty other governments, almost all of Western Europe, don’t recognize the Maduro government as legitimate. But it does not feel like there is an organized plan. And coming down again, America only, without any of our other allies in South America or Central America again seems not the right approach to me.

>>23896318

RADDATZ: What could happen short of a show of force? When you have that massive a show of force, it’s almost like, you’re in a position where you have to do something or you might look weak. Short of Maduro saying, OK, I’ll leave, then what does he do?

WARNER: Well, again, that’s the million-dollar question. And as you know, when you’ve got this many forces down there, and you can’t keep the carrier positioned there forever, you also have the chance of an accident happening or a conflict between the Venezuelan air force or some of our planes that might —

RADDATZ: Do you think he wants to go to war with Venezuela? Do you think he wants (INAUDIBLE) —

WARNER: I don’t know. I don’t know. I think he is trying to put outside pressure on Maduro. But by doing it in this kind of America only approach, again without giving any sign to, I think, even his — the Republicans on The Hill what his plans are, I’m not sure is the right way to do foreign policy. You couple this Venezuela misadventure with this desertion of Ukraine and this is not making America safer, and it’s sure not putting America first.

RADDATZ: Thanks very much for joining us, Senator. Always appreciate it.

Trump signals ‘progress’ in Ukraine peace push

The US president has hinted at movement in talks after delegations from Washington and Kiev met in Geneva

US President Donald Trump has expressed cautious optimism about the result of talks in Geneva on the American peace plan to end the Ukraine conflict, saying that “something good” may be happening.

Washington presented Kiev with the proposal last week, giving it until Thursday to respond. Ukrainian and US delegations then met with key European NATO backers in Geneva on Sunday, after which the White House said in a statement that an “updated and refined peace framework” had been drafted, with final decisions on it to be made by Trump and Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky.

”Is it really possible that big progress is being made in peace talks between Russia and Ukraine? Don’t believe it until you see it, but something good just may be happening,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform on Monday.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio earlier said the US and Ukraine had made a “tremendous amount of progress” on the framework, while stressing that Russian agreement is essential for any deal to hold.

While the original 28-point plan has not been made public, multiple outlets have reported that it includes clauses which Kiev and its European sponsors previously rejected, such as de facto recognition of Russian control over Crimea and Donbass, Ukraine abandoning its ambitions to join NATO, and downsizing its military.

According to Reuters, Ukraine’s European backers submitted a modified version of the proposal that pushes back on limits to Kiev’s armed forces and on territorial concessions.

The Kremlin said on Monday that Russia had not received any official information about the outcome of the Geneva talks or any revised proposal and declined to comment on media reports.

Moscow confirmed earlier that it had received Washington’s draft, with President Vladimir Putin noting on Friday that “it could form the basis of a final peace settlement.”

Ally of ex-Bosnian Serb leader wins election

Sinisa Karan, who succeeded Milorad Dodik in Republika Srpska, called Russia “one of the greatest friends”

A close ally of longtime Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodikhas won a snap presidential election in Republika Srpska, the Serb-majority entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to preliminary results.

Sinisa Karan’s apparent victory comes after Dodik was removed from office over his refusal to obey the rulings imposed by an international envoy overseeing the peace-monitoring regime in Bosnia.

Karan, the candidate of Dodik’s Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) and the entity’s minister for scientific and technological development, took about 51% of the vote, after nearly all ballots were counted. Branko Blanusa, the candidate from the opposition Serb Democratic Party, won roughly 48%, with turnout just under 36%.

The snap vote was called after Bosnia’s state court convicted Dodik in February of failing to comply with the decisions of Christian Schmidt, the international high representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina. Schmidt, a German national, has a strong mandate to oversee the 1995 Dayton Peace Agreement, which ended the bloody 1992-1995 Bosnian War.

In 2023, Schmidt invoked his powers to annul legislation passed by Republika Srpska’s authorities that sought to strip state-level courts and police of jurisdiction in the entity and declared the envoy’s decrees non-binding. Dodik himself has branded Schmidt a “tourist”and declined to recognize his authority.

A state court in Sarajevo later found Dodik guiltyof failing to implement Schmidt’s decision, sentencing him to one year in prison – a term he avoided by paying a court-approved fine – and banning him from holding public office for six years.

With election results coming in, Karan pledged to continue Dodik’s policies “with ever greater force,” adding that “the Serb people have won.”Dodik, meanwhile, promised voters that “I will remain with you to fight for our political goals,”stressing that Karan’s “victory will be my victory too.”

Both Karan and Dodik have advocated for close ties with Russia, with the former calling Moscow “one of the greatest allies and friends of Srpska.” Dodik has echoed the sentiment, suggesting that the West was using Ukraine to provoke “a war with Russia.”

Kiev-orchestrated train derailment foiled in Russia – FSB (VIDEO)

A similar sabotage attack in May claimed the lives of seven civilians

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has thwarted an alleged Ukrainian-sponsored attempt to derail a train in Siberia’s Altay Region, the agency announced on Monday.

According to the FSB, two men acting on behalf of a “terrorist group and in coordination with Ukrainian special services” were intercepted last week while attempting to install a derailment device near a bridgealong the rail line between Novoaltaysk and Biysk. The line carries both passenger and cargo traffic, the statement read.

The suspects reportedly opened fire on FSB officers during the nighttime operation and were killed by return fire. They were identified as local residents who, according to the agency, supported Kiev and had agreed to carry out an attack in exchange for money.

Russian officials have accused Ukraine of conducting numerous sabotage operations targeting railroad infrastructure. In May, a passenger train was derailed in Bryansk Region after an explosion on a bridge, killing seven civilians. Investigators said identical foreign-made explosives were used in several coordinated attacks linked to Ukrainian intelligence.

Moscow has warned that Kiev is increasingly turning to terrorism as its military position worsens on the battlefield. The Ukrainian government is also under intense political pressure at homeover a sweeping corruption scandal and from abroad, over a US-backed peace proposal that reportedly requires major concessions from Kiev while offering Vladimir Zelensky and his inner circle immunity from prosecution.

Belarus releases 31 Ukrainians in ‘goodwill gesture’

The move reflects an effort to pursue agreements reached between Lukashenko and Trump, Minsk has said

Minsk has released 31 Ukrainian citizens from detention in a “goodwill gesture” linked to ongoing engagement efforts between Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and his US counterpart, Donald Trump.

In a statement on Saturday, Lukashenko’s presidential press secretary Natalia Eismont announced that he had pardoned Ukrainians who had been convicted of criminal offenses in Belarus at the request of Kiev and in order to further the agreements he had reached with Trump.

She described the move as a “gesture of goodwill” guided by humanitarian principles, saying it “aims to create the conditions for resolving the armed conflict in the neighboring state,” and added that the group was being handed over to Ukraine “right now.”

According to Ukraine’s Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, 31 civilians, both men and women, were returned from Belarus after serving sentences ranging from two to 11 years. It went on to thank Trump for his “fruitful work in returning Ukrainian civilians and military personnel from Belarus and Russia.”

Belarusian officials have not detailed the exact charges the 31 detainees faced, though previous media reports indicated that some had been suspected of “extremism” and espionage.

In addition, Lukashenko pardoned two Roman Catholic priests, Andrzej Juchniewicz and Henryk Okolotowicz, who had been convicted of serious crimes against the state. Eismont said the decision “was made at the request of Pope Leo XIV … as a gesture of goodwill,” citing mercy, humanism and the desire to develop relations with the Holy See.

In September, Lukashenko pardoned 52 prisoners, including several opposition activists who were serving lengthy prison sentences for organizing the 2020 riots, as well as those indicted on “extremist” charges.

The move followed Lukashenko’s meeting with a US delegation in Minsk, while Washington eased some sanctions on Belarus, including lifting restrictions on the state airline Belavia. Later the same month, the Belarusian leader pardoned another 25 detainees.

In June, Lukashenko also pardoned 14 detainees, mostly foreign citizens, including those from Poland and the US. The release coincided with the visit of Keith Kellogg, Trump’s special envoy, to Belarus.

France could be involved in Charlie Kirk murder – Telegram founder

Pavel Durov has weighed in on claims that the US conservative activist’s assassin was trained with the French Legion

The allegations that the French government is behind the assassination of US conservative activist Charlie Kirk are “entirely possible,”Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Durov has said.

The Russian tech entrepreneur was commenting on right-wing commentator Candace Owens’ claims that Kirk’s assassin “trained with the French Legion 13th Brigade with multi-state involvement.” The suspect, 22-year-old Tyler James Robinson, has been formally charged with aggravated murder and related counts in Kirk’s killing and is being held without bail as prosecutors indicate they may seek the death penalty.

In the same X post, shared on Friday, Owens said she had been warned by a high-ranking official that French President Emmanuel Macron had “authorized professional units” to carry out her assassination.

“After reviewing everything Charlie Kirk has ever said about Macron’s France, I find Candace’s info about French involvement in his death entirely plausible,” Durov wrote on X on Sunday, sharing Owens’s post.

Durov, who was detained at the Paris airport last year over crimes linked to Telegram users, has been consistently critical of the French authorities, accusing them of embarking on a “crusade” against free speech. The tech billionaire, who holds French citizenship, maintains that his arrest over offenses committed by the platform’s users is “legally and logically absurd.”

In his message, Durov noted that Kirk “called for 300% tariffs on France” until the charges against him were dropped, linking to a post in which the activist accused Europe of targeting “CEOs of platforms where free speech thrives.” That message, written shortly before the founder of the conservative organization Turning Point USA was fatally shot on a university campus in Utah on September 10, argued that France should face “stiff and painful consequences” for Durov’s arrest.

The Telegram founder has claimed that during his detention he was asked by the head of the French secret service to censor conservative voices in Romania ahead of a controversial presidential election later nullified by the country’s Constitutional Court. Last month, Durov accused the French authorities of promoting surveillance in the name of law enforcement.

The tech billionaire, whose company operates from Dubai, was initially barred from leaving France during the investigation, but the travel ban was fully lifted earlier this month.

Brazil ‘enormously’ worried about US forces off Venezuela – Lula

The Brazilian president has called for a peaceful solution before a potential conflict breaks

(Another communist standing for a communist and terrorist)

Brazil is “enormously worried” about the US military buildup near Venezuela, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has said, calling for a solution to be found “before a conflict begins.”

The Pentagon has deployed multiple warships and the largest US aircraft carrier in the Caribbean near the South American nation, and has killed scores of people in controversial attacks on boats it claimed were linked to alleged Venezuelan-led drug trafficking operations. Caracas has denied the accusations.

“I am very concerned about the military deployment that the United States has stationed in the Caribbean Sea,” Lula told reporters at the G20 Summit in South Africa on Sunday, according to Globo News.

“This worries me enormously, and I intend to discuss this with President [Donald] Trump because it concerns me… It is important that we try to find a solution before a conflict begins.”(He should be worried.)

Washington is poised to begin operations against Venezuela in the coming days, Reuters reported on Sunday, citing anonymous US officials. Clandestine operations would likely kick off the effort, and the overthrow of President Nicolas Maduro is under consideration, the agency cited its sources as saying.

Maduro has consistently denied US allegations of drug-trafficking, arguing that Washington was using the claims as a pretext for a regime-change and resource-grab operation.

Earlier this month, the Venezuelan military was placed on high alert in response to the US buildup, which reportedly involves about 15,000 personnel.

Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez has condemned the US deployment in the Caribbean.

“We strongly reject maneuvers, exercises, and deployments in our immediate area of interest,”the top general said in a speech on Saturday. “Enough of the threats, lies, slander, and imposition of power, all for the sake of preserving regional hegemonies.”

Iranian spy chief accuses US and Israel of plotting to assassinate Khamenei – media

Foreign adversaries are targeting the Islamic Republic’s supreme leader, Tehran’s intelligence boss has reportedly alleged

Iran’s intelligence chief has accused the US and Israel of plotting to kill Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in an effort to destabilize the country, the ISNA news agency has reported.

According to the outlet, Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib said on Saturday that “the enemy seeks to target the supreme leader, sometimes with assassination attempts, sometimes with hostile attacks,” referring to the US and Israel.

It was unclear whether the minister was alluding to a specific plot. Public claims of threats to Khamenei’s life had been rare before the 12-day war between Israel and Iran in June. Israeli strikes killed several senior Iranian commanders and nuclear scientists before a US-brokered ceasefire on June 24. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he had ordered the attacks to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons, a campaign backed by Washington, which joined Israeli raids on Iranian nuclear facilities on June 22. Tehran, which denies seeking a nuclear weapon, condemned the strikes as unprovoked.

Khatib reportedly warned that “those who act in this direction, knowingly or unknowingly, are the infiltrating agents of the enemy.”

He added that Israel was grappling with “an epidemic of infiltration and espionage for Iran within its own institutions,” citing the recent arrest of an Israeli Air Force officer accused of spying for Tehran. Khatib reportedly claimed that Iran had obtained secret nuclear information and other highly sensitive security documents.

According to Khatib, the intelligence breach, coupled with what he described as Iran’s firm posture during the 12-day war, pointed to shifting regional power dynamics.

Earlier this year, Netanyahu brushed off reports that US President Donald Trump had vetoed an Israeli plan to kill Iran’s supreme leader during the war, while adding that such a strike would “end the conflict.”

Trump had claimed Khamenei was a “very easy target” and that Washington would not “take him out, at least not for now,” later declaring on Truth Social that he had spared the Iranian leader from “A VERY UGLY AND IGNOMINIOUS DEATH.”

Khamenei, 86, has been Iran’s supreme leader since 1989 and has final authority over all state affairs.

(I highly doubt the U.S. is involved. I thought Rubio mentioned negotiations with Iran were on? Israel will never stop trying to kill leaders of other countries.)

Europeans Offer to Allow Russia Back Into G8 in Ukraine Peace Talks

Kurt Zindulka24 Nov 2025

The European counterproposal made during the Ukraine peace talks in Geneva on Sunday would reportedly allow Russia to be readmitted to the G8 alliance of major world economies and to place a cap on Ukraine’s military.

U.S. Secretary of State Rubio led talks in Switzerland on Sunday between Ukrainian and European delegations in response to the Trump administration’s initial 28-point peace framework released earlier last week.

The White House said that the Geneva meeting “marked a significant step forward, and that continued close coordination will be essential as the Parties work toward a durable, comprehensive peace.”

Secretary Rubio said that the talks were “the most productive and meaningful so far” and that Washington will be “making some changes” to the peace outline in light of the concerns expressed by Ukrainian and European officials.

According to London’s Daily Telegraph,European negotiators pressed for language specifically prohibiting Ukraine from joining NATO to be removed from the framework. Instead of a firm commitment to not join the Western military alliance, the language agreed to by the Europeans stated:“Ukraine joining NATO depends on consensus of alliance members, which does not exist.”

The European delegation alsorequested that the peacetime cap on active members of the Ukrainian military be raised from the 600,000 proposed by Trump to 800,000.While Kyiv has previously rejected the notion of limiting the size of its armed forces, such a figure would allow it to remain the largest standing army in Europe outside of Russia.

In exchange for such demands, the Europeans reportedly offered to allow Russia to be readmitted into the G8 economic and political alliance, which reverted to the G7 in 2014 after Moscow illegally annexed Crimea from Ukraine under the Obama administration. Such a move would represent a major step towards Russia being re-integrated into the global economy after years of sanctions, and to boost its national standing on the world stage.

Despite the apparent progress, it remains to be seen if talks will advance to a final stage by President Trump’s Thanksgiving deadline. Finish President Alexander Stubb said on Monday morning that while “steps were taken toward a just and lasting peace” in the Geneva talks, “there are still unresolved issues.”

One such issuewill likely be whether European troops will be permitted to be deployed to Ukraine as a peacekeeping force, as has been suggested by French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.

Leaders of the so-called “coalition of the willing” are reportedly set to meet for another round of talks on Tuesday.Russia has consistently opposed the idea of troops from NATO countries being stationed in Ukraine, claiming that it would represent an escalation in the conflict.

Other potential sticking points will likely bewhether Ukraine will agree to formally acknowledge occupied lands as Russian territory, andwhether Kyiv will be permitted into the European Union or the NATO alliance.

Nevertheless, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed cautious optimism on Monday, writing on Truth Social: “Is it really possible that big progress is being made in Peace Talks between Russia and Ukraine???Don’t believe it until you see it, but something good just may be happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

In a post on X on Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that his country “is grateful to the United States, to every American heart, and personally to President Trump for the assistance that – starting with the Javelins – has been saving Ukrainian lives. We thank everyone in Europe, in the G7, and in the G20 who is helping us defend life. It is important to preserve the support.”

“It is important not to forget the main goal – to stop Russia’s war and prevent it from ever igniting again. And to achieve that, peace must be dignified… That is why we work so carefully on every point, on every step toward peace. Everything must work out the right way – so that this war is truly ended and so that it does not happen again. Thank you to everyone who is helping! Thank you, America! Thank you, Europe! I am proud of our people. Glory to Ukraine!”

Charlie Sheen Blasts His Father Martin Sheen for Attacking Trump Right After He Brokered Gaza Peace Deal

Warner Todd Huston24 Nov 2025

Actor Charlie Sheen said his father’s criticism of President Donald Trump was poorly timed because the West Wing star’s attack came on the same day that Trump was the toast of the world due to his Gaza peace deal.

Charlie appeared on The Megyn Kelly Show and during the interview he noted that he told his father, famed Apocalypse Now star Martin Sheen, that his anti-Trump criticism was wrong at the wrong time.

The elder Sheen had chosen the same day that Trump was making history by brokering a peace deal in Gaza.Sheen went off on Trump (again) calling him a “non-human” who is “the biggest nothing in the world.” But Charlie said he was chagrined by the comments.

“His timing on that thing was really shitty, man,” the Major League star said of is father. “And I told him so.”

“But then I had to take a step back and we’d just gone through that whole thing with Kimmel with the freedom of speech. And so, I was like, ‘Yeah, yeah, OK. No, own that.’ You know, because it’s the unpleasant things that we have to grant freedom to as well, right?” he explained.

“I was like, ‘Dad, the timing, the timing, man. You got to read the room.’ Ya know? Because [Trump] brokers the peace deal and the entire universe is celebrating, and Dad’s with Nicole Wallace [trashing Trump’.” He added, “But he could have done that, like, on Wednesday.”

“Not when we just created peace in the Middle East,” Kelly quipped.

“Just that, yeah!” Sheen replied.

Sheen went on to say that he made a conscious decision to start hearing both side of the story about politics and it changed his outlook. And he blamed the “legacy media” for its propaganda and called the mainstream press “state-run media” for leading him astray and causing him to blindly hate Trump and conservatives.

“Enough of that, I’m gonna change the channel, hear some different voices, and do the research, and the things that I discovered and the things that I really unearthed. Um, you know, it was just, it was not just one of those moments. It was like months of those moments of oh my gosh,” he said of his journey away from the radical left.

“And I felt really stupid. I don’t have a fancier way to describe it. I felt really stupid,” he said when he came to realize he had been propagandized by the left.

“Yeah. just some of the stuff I’d bought into, and some of the stuff I was worshiping, and some of the people I was hating because I was told I was supposed to,” he exclaimed.

GOP lawmaker complains Canada’s defense spending still falls short in the long run

Ottawa defends NATO commitment as forward progress at 'breakneck' speed

Mike Blanchfield

Tillis is one the eight members of a bipartisan congressional delegation to this weekend’s security conference. Attendees were keen to hear their views on the trade tensions between Canada and the U.S.,especially given that President Donald Trump has banned Washington’s top defense officials from attending this weekend’s conference.

Canadian Defense Minister David McGuinty opened the proceedings Friday, highlighting Canada’s commitment to reach NATO’s 2 percent GDP by the end of this fiscal year and the alliance’s new 2035 target of 5 percent. Those are increases driven by Trump’s grievance that allies in Europe and Canada were not paying their fair share and riding on U.S. coattails.

McGuinty reflected pointedly on Canada’s several decades of declining defense spending that started after the end of the Cold War and only ended this year with the new commitment to meet NATO targets.

“When national budgets were tight, other priorities took precedence — and if I’m being honest — we became complacent. Our defense muscles atrophied. Our security muscles atrophied. Call it the peace dividend, or the end of history. We now know this era was short-lived,” the minister said.

But he added: “We are rebuilding, rearming and reinvesting in the Canadian Armed Forces on a massive scale and at speed. We’re making generational investments into our security, our sovereignty and our resilience.

Asked about Tillis’ comments, McGuinty said Saturday that Canada is focused on the future and rebuilding its military at “breakneck speed.”

“We’re hiring 15,000 soldiers. We’re rebuilding 33 bases. We’re moving on. We’ve got hundreds of aircraft on order. We’ve got destroyers being built,” McGuinty said.

“I think that I get his position. We respect it, but we’re moving forward.”

An aide to Tillis emailed POLITICO after the story ran to say the senator was “speaking figuratively” and isn’t “actually expecting” Canada to cut a $300 billion check.

Canada’s new spending commitment was made earlier this year by the new government of Prime Minister Mark Carney, which was elected in April. Carney succeeded Justin Trudeau, who stepped down earlier in the year after a decade in power.

Tillis recalled meeting Trudeau in Washington and pressing him on what was then Canada’s unfulfilled NATO commitment.

“I said, ‘Mr. Trudeau, I’ve looked back over the last 20 years, and every prime minister has said the same thing, we’re going to get to it. And they never got to it. As a result, there’s a $300 billion shortfall in our mutual defense,’” Tillis recalled.

Tillis criticized successive Liberal and Conservative governments for balking at raising defense spending because of concerns over not short-changing Canada’s social safety net, which includes public health care.
