I tried to play quite a few.
Typically they basically force you to pay for some shit at some point, or there's pay-to-win, meanwhile in Fortnite even the Battle Pass is free, literally. Or if you buy it once (you don't have to), you just have to play a bit, and get follow-ups for free.
There is also no trickery going on, like casinos for children, like in Counter-Strike made by Valve.
Or the ability to sell and buy overpriced digital items. Epic Games goes directly against that, they ban accounts when they catch it.
Valve embraces it, because they get their cut, and don't give a fuck about their users, especially children in their case.
Fortnite also never had loot boxes (Save The World had, but that was a paid game, and not Fortnite).
Plus Fortnite changes the game up every few months or even just weeks (Fortnite = 14 days). Last year you had a few months of pure car combat, like Twisted Metal. It was like 3 or 4 full game releases with unique mechanics.
I know not a single other game that does this much and actually being really free without fuckery going on.
Fortnite is not even just Battle Royale anymore. It has a mode similar to Counter-Strike. And way more, including community content too.
