>THE JAKE PAUL CURSE
>What’s happened to Jake Paul’s opponents is genuinely strange
Re his latest match, a few weeks ago:
On 12/19/25, British boxer, Olympic Gold medalist, and 2-time heavy weight champion, Anthony Joshua broke Jake Paul's jaw in two places, among other poundings, in his six-round knockout win over his 30-pound lighter, 5-inch shorter, 10-yr-younger opponent.
Ten days later, on 12/29/25, Anthony's best friends, his personal trainer and his strength and conditioning coach were both killed in a car crash in Nigeria that Anthony and the now-arrested driver survived.
Anthony and his friends were in Nigeria to visit Anthony's family for the holidays. The driver was reportedly driving at excessive rates of speed on known-to-be-dangerous Nigerian roads, attempted a pass, and smashed into a commercial truck stopped on the roadside, which apparently is not an uncommon sight there. There was also a report of a blown tire in their Lexus SUV before the crash.
Per Wikipedia:
"On 29 December 2025, Joshua was injured in a car crash in Nigeria on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, near the Sinoma area close to Sagamu in Ogun State, while travelling as a passenger in a Lexus LX570. The collision resulted in the deaths of two people, later identified as his personal trainer Latif "Latz" Ayodele and his strength and conditioning coach Sina Ghami, both of whom were also close friends of Joshua.[292] Joshua was rescued from the vehicle by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and taken to the Duchess International Hospital, where he was treated for injuries reported to be non-life-threatening.[293][294][295]
According to a statement released by the FRSC, the LX570 in which Joshua was travelling struck a stationary red commercial Sinotruk truck that was parked by the roadside. Preliminary findings indicated that the vehicle was suspected to have been travelling above the speed limit and lost control during an overtaking manoeuvre, resulting in the collision.[296] Local authorities stated that Joshua was discharged from hospital on 31 December and began his recovery at his home in Nigeria. The individual operating the vehicle,a hired driver, also survived.[297][298] He was later charged by police with reckless and dangerous driving, as well as not having a valid driver's licence.[299][300]"
