Dozens killed in RSF drone attack in war-torn Sudan’s South Kordofan

Last Updated: January 29, 2026 | 02:03 PM

KHARTOM —Dozens of people were killed and several others injured on Wednesday in a drone strike by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) targeting a gathering on a key town in war-torn Sudan’s South Kordofan state, local media reported.

Multiple areas of Dilling, including the headquarters of the Sudanese army’s 54th Brigade and the central market, were struck by suicide drones, the Sudan Tribune reported, citing local sources and medical groups.

The latest RSF attack came a day after the government-aligned Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) announced that it had broken a nearly two-year-long RSF siege on Dilling, gaining control over key supply lines.

Dilling lies halfway between Kadugli – the besieged state capital – and el-Obeid, the capital of neighbouring North Kordofan province, which the RSF has sought to encircle.

The RSF and the SAF have been waging a brutal civil war for control of Sudan since April 2023, which has killed thousands of people and displaced millions.

Since the siege was lifted, Dilling has endured a wave of drone attacks that have destroyed service facilities and caused several casualties.

Military sources told the Sudan Tribune that the RSF was attempting to reinstate the blockade, though the SAF continues to hold the area and repel assaults near the strategic town of Habila in North Kordofan state.

Amid these clashes, the Sudan Doctors Network has called for an urgent humanitarian corridor to deliver life-saving food and medicine.

Local sources said the situation on the ground remains desperate, with a severe lack of health services and a critical shortage of essential supplies, particularly intravenous fluids.

A United Nations-backed assessment last year confirmed famine in Kadugli, which has been under RSF siege for more than a year and a half.

More than 65,000 people have fled the Kordofan region since October, according to the latest UN figures.

The conflict has created what the UN describes as the world’s largest displacement and hunger crisis, though some people have returned to their homes despite shattered infrastructure. — Agencies

Heavy gunfire and explosions heard near airport in Niger capital

January 29, 2026 | 01:12 PM

NIAMEY — Heavy gunfire and loud explosions were heard early Thursday near the international airport outside Niger's capital Niamey.

The shooting began shortly after midnight, according to residents of a neighborhood near the airport.

Videos filmed by residents of the area showed streaks of light in the sky with the sound of loud explosions, while other images showed flames several meters high and charred cars.

The capital's Diori Hamani International Airport houses an air force base and is located about 10 km from the presidential palace.

Niger, a country grappling with an armed insurgency, has been led for more than two years by Abdourahamane Tiani, who overthrew the country's elected civilian president in 2023.

It was not immediately clear what had caused the gunfire and whether there were any casualties.

The sound of sirens from fire trucks heading toward the airport could also be heard in the early hours of the morning, according to local residents.

Since taking over the country, Niger's military leadership has forced out French and US forces who had been helping to combat the militants.

Niger and its neighbours, also led by military juntas, have teamed up to create their own confederation, the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), and have announced the creation of a 5,000-strong force for joint military operations.

Multiple eyewitness accounts and videos showed air defense systems apparently engaging unidentified projectiles in the early hours of Thursday.

The situation later calmed down, reports say, with an official reportedly saying the situation was now under control, without elaborating.

A huge uranium shipment destined for export has been stuck at the airport amid unresolved legal and diplomatic complications with France after the military government nationalized the country's uranium mines.

The official told the agency they were trying to determine whether the gunfire was linked to the uranium shipment. — Agencies

Airports that have been affected by drones

January 29, 2026 at 10:24 AM EST

Ourania Georgoutsakou, Managing Director for Airlines for Europe (A4E), said the proliferating incidents should “speed up” implementation of protocols to minimise disruption in an “overstretched and fragmented European airspace”.

List of Airports affected by drones

Brussels and Liège airports (Belgium, 7 November 2025) faced disruptions overnight once again over suspected drone sightings

Deurne Airport (Belgium, 1 November 2025) a possible drone sighting was reported in the immediate vicinity of Deurne Airport.

Copenhagen Airport (Denmark, 22 September 2025) closed for nearly four hours due to drone sightings, causing diversions and cancellations.

Oslo Airport (Norway, 22 September 2025) airspace closed for about three hours after a drone sighting.

Aalborg Airport (Denmark, 24–25 September 2025) temporarily closed after drones repeatedly observed in airspace.

Munich Airport (Germany, 2 October 2025,) flight operations suspended overnight due to multiple drone sightings, leading to cancelled and diverted flights.

Alicante–Elche Miguel Hernández Airport (Spain, 27 October 2025) drone sighting near runway forced airport to suspend operations for nearly two hours.

Denmark’s defence minister, Troels Lund Poulsen, told a press conference:

“There can be no doubt that everything points to this being the work of a professional actor when we are talking about such a systematic operation in so many locations at virtually the same time.

This is what I would define as a hybrid attack using different types of drones.“This is an arms race against time because technology is constantly evolving.”

FBI Whistleblower 'Leaked MJ-12 UFO Files' as Claims Most Majestic Documents Are Real

29 January 2026, 1:09 PM GMT

Scotty Newton Miler comes forward as long-debated Majestic-12 papers resurface in post-Trump JFK declassifications

A former CIA insider has thrown open one of the most controversial files in UFO history. Scotty Newton Miler, an FBI whistleblower and Church Committee witness, claims that the majority of the MJ-12, also called Majestic-12, documents are authentic.

These papers, first surfacing in the 1980s, have long been dismissed by mainstream sources as hoaxes or disinformation, yet new declassified material from the Trump-era JFK releases has reignited debate over their credibility.

How the MJ-12 Documents First Emerged

The mysterious documents first appeared in mid-December 1984 when Los Angeles television writer Jamie Shandera received an unmarked package containing an undeveloped 35mm film roll.

Bearing a New Mexico postmark but no return address, the film revealed what appeared to be classified briefing documents concerning an alleged government programme studying extraterrestrial phenomena.

Shandera, intrigued, shared the findings with ufologist William Moore, co-author of The Roswell Incident. Their investigation eventually uncovered the related 'Cutler-Twining memo' in the National Archives in 1985, considered a potential corroboration of the leak.

It was not until 1987 that the wider public became aware of the documents, when British ufologist Timothy Good received a copy from an alleged intelligence source.

Moore and Shandera then released their versions to the press. Despite mainstream scepticism, some of the original insiders now argue the papers may have been partially genuine, though possibly mixed with disinformation.

Scotty Newton Miler's Revelations

Newton, also known as 'Source S-1,' was closely aligned with CIA counterintelligence chief James Jesus Angleton and testified alongside him during the Church Committee hearings of the 1970s.

Following his retirement from the CIA in 1974, Newton led the New Mexico chapter of the Association of Former Intelligence Officers, where he networked with other intelligence professionals.

Newton has now confirmed he leaked the MJ-12 documents, asserting their legitimacy. He claims that certain previously doubted files, including the A.A.W.S.A.P. B.A.A.S.S. ten-month report and the 'Kona Blue' document, are authentic.

According to Newton, these papers were intended strictly for high-level SCI-F access and were never meant for public consumption.

His statements suggest a deliberate suppression and disinformation campaign orchestrated by the CIA's Office of Global Access, aimed at discrediting genuine evidence of extraterrestrial visitation.

Trump-Era Declassifications Bring New Evidence

The debate over MJ-12 has intensified following the declassification of thousands of pages from the JFK assassination records under President Donald Trump's Executive Order 14176, signed in January 2025.

The releases, managed by the National Archives, exposed previously withheld documents and brought attention to Newton's leak.

The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform's Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets scrutinised the releases, examining potential CIA cover-ups and misleading of Congress.

Within these declassified records, researchers uncovered supporting evidence for the MJ-12 files.

Dr James Lakatski, who had access to the original S.A.P. documents, confirmed that the 'Kona Blue' report referred to historical events rather than a future plan.

This lends credence to Newton's assertion that the MJ-12 papers are not mere fabrications but part of a highly controlled intelligence programme.

Implications of the MJ-12 Credibility

If Newton's claims are accurate, the implications are staggering.

They suggest the US government maintained a sophisticated suppression programme to control information about extraterrestrial activity on Earth, dating back thousands of years.

References within the files indicate interstellar visitation may have occurred as far back as 12,000 years ago, challenging conventional historical narratives.

The controversy also highlights the role of government 'debunkers' and disinformation agents, allegedly funded to protect sensitive programs.

Even decades after the initial leak, mainstream agencies such as the FBI and the Air Force officially labelled the MJ-12 papers as fakes.

However, Newton's whistleblowing and recent corroborations indicate that these denials may have been part of a broader cover-up.

With the MJ-12 files now resurfacing and further corroborated by credible insiders, the conversation about UFOs and government transparency is far from over.

The documents continue to stir debate among ufologists, historians, and intelligence professionals, suggesting that the story of extraterrestrial encounters may be more than just myth or legend.

Marines In Restricted Military Training Area On Quantico Marine Base Report Seeing A Bigfoot

UpdatedJanuary 27, 2026 2:42 PM EST

A restricted military base is an unexpected setting for a Bigfoot encounter.

It's one thing for a couple of bottle rocket shooting teenagers to report a Class A encounter with a Bigfoot in the Wisconsin wilderness. It's quite another for a former Marine to submit a story of a run-in in a restricted military training area.

The Bigfoot Field Research Organization received one such report a couple of weeks ago from a now-former Marine in regard to an incident they say took place one summer on Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia.

BFRO Investigator Matthew Moneymaker spoke with the reporter of the incident and had this to say:

"I spoke with this former Marine, Andrew Bird, at length. He is credible, and he was not the only one who observed this figure that night. Two other Marines were with him and saw the same thing."

Their encounter started in a restricted military training area near the MOUT (Military Operations in Urban Terrain) training town, where their patrol originated from.

They initially experienced what was described as a compass disorientation anomaly with all of their compasses indicating they were headed in the right direction only to end up back where they started.

This Bigfoot Report Comes From a Place Most People Can’t Access

They decided on a different pickup location and, about 15 to 20 minutes into making their way to the new location, had their encounter with a creature in a wooded area.

This area is inside a controlled military training area with restricted access, the former Marine reported. It's not open to the public, and you can’t go there without "official permission and escort."

The incident occurred in July 2005. He was stationed at Marine Corps Base Quantico for over three years. He and two other Marines were told to leave at night and make their way through the woods to a vehicle at a pickup location.

They were in an active training area moving quietly with their flashlights off while students trained with blank ammunition.

After the issue with their compasses, he says, "We decided to cut a new azimuth to a different reference point and then adjust course toward a different pickup spot further down the road."

After roughly 15 to 20 minutes, they heard a loud sound like a tree cracking. Fearing it could be a falling tree, they turned on their flashlights and looked in the direction of the sounds.

The Creature Was Manipulating Trees Like They Were Nothing

"We observed two trees next to each other bending toward one another. When we looked up, approximately 20 to 30 feet above the ground, we saw a large, hairy creature with its back facing us," he explained.

"The creature appeared to be pulling the two trees together. The hair was a brown or reddish-brown color. I could not determine whether it had climbed the tree or was already in it, but it was clearly manipulating both trees with great strength.

These are not small trees."

The creature was more than eight feet tall with a large body and movements that didn’t resemble that of a person. The three, after initially freezing, took off running.

"As we ran, we heard a very heavy thud, and then fast-moving pursuit behind us. There were loud crashing and breaking sounds, like something large moving rapidly through dense brush.

This continued for approximately 20 to 30 seconds," he said.

"At that point, I yelled for the Marine in front to turn on his light so we could move as fast as possible without falling.

We turned our lights on and ran at full speed in the general direction of where we believed the road and pickup point were, no longer using our compasses."

They reached the vehicle after five minutes or so of running, jumped in and told the driver to get them out of there.

They're not sure what they saw, but know for sure it "was not a black bear or any known animal in the area. Black bears in Quantico are relatively small."

Once again, we're unfortunately left without an image or other evidence of what they encountered that summer night more than 20 years ago. But do we actually need that?

Isn't this statement from a former Marine enough: "This event has stayed with me for 20 years. I have never encountered anything before or since that explains what we saw that night."

CIA Boss' 1947 Diary Sparks UFO Bombshell as 'Certain Papers' Sent to White House Emerge

29 January 2026, 12:55 PM GMT

A newly scrutinised diary from 1947 is sending shockwaves through the UFO research world.

Rear Admiral Roscoe Hillenkoetter, the first Director of Central Intelligence, meticulously recorded a series of events that suggest highly sensitive papers were delivered to the White House on 24 September 1947.

On 23 September 1947, Hillenkoetter wrote a directive from the Office of the Secretary of Defense instructing him to deliver documents to the White House at a specific time the next morning.

His diary notes, 'Paper for White House [is] to be in by 9:00am.' The level of precision in timing is unusual for routine administrative work and suggests these were highly sensitive materials requiring top-level oversight.

Hillenkoetter's Diary Captures White House Instructions

The following day, Hillenkoetter recorded, 'Director went to White House to discuss certain papers.' The use of 'certain papers' is striking.

It does not indicate ordinary correspondence or general business, but a clearly recognised sensitive subject known to all parties involved.

This diary entry is one of the earliest contemporary records suggesting that a compartmented program was under White House review shortly after the Roswell incident.

Further entries reveal that Hillenkoetter supervised the preparation of twelve copies of the papers, plus an additional copy for Rear Admiral Souers.

The number twelve is notable because it aligns with later references to MJ-12, the alleged Majestic-12 group that purportedly oversaw UFO investigations.

Hillenkoetter also delayed internal CIA meetings to coordinate with Secretary of Defense James Forrestal following his White House visit.

Such actions are inconsistent with routine paperwork and indicate the establishment of a compartmented programme requiring precise coordination among the most senior intelligence and defence officials.

Implications for Early UFO Programmes

Taken together, these diary entries form a compelling picture. They suggest that the origins of a highly controlled programme, later associated with MJ-12, were already in motion in September 1947.

The precise instructions, timing, and terminology reveal a sophisticated administrative footprint that mirrors other historically sensitive projects, such as the Manhattan Project, where euphemisms and tightly controlled access were standard practice.

This contemporaneous evidence challenges dismissals that MJ-12 is purely myth or later fabrication.

Rather than relying on second-hand accounts or retrospective claims, Hillenkoetter's diary provides direct documentation from the office of the first Director of Central Intelligence.

The controlled handling of twelve copies, coordination with the White House, and deferment of internal CIA actions all demonstrate deliberate and structured secrecy.

Contemporaneous Records Confirm Compartmented Action

The diary is not an isolated record. Supporting evidence comes from related archival documents, including the Shadow GHQ files preserved at the Princeton University Library, which show the same level of compartmented activity one month later.

These primary sources collectively indicate that a special control group, potentially the precursor to MJ-12, was already operational by late 1947.

For skeptics who demand contemporaneous documentation, Hillenkoetter's diary provides exactly that. The timing, phrasing, and procedural details cannot be dismissed as coincidence or routine bureaucracy.

They form a consistent administrative trail revealing highly sensitive actions coordinated at the highest levels of government.

Whether one interprets these events as the formal birth of MJ-12 or the earliest stages of classified UFO programs, the diary demonstrates that something unusual and highly controlled occurred on September 24, 1947.

This record represents one of the most credible primary sources pointing to the existence of a secret compartmented initiative monitored directly by the White House and the CIA.

Pentagon Refuses to Search for ‘Immaculate Constellation’ Emails

January 27, 2026

A recent Freedom of Information Act response issued by the Department of War raises significant questions about the government’s obligations under FOIA, after officials declined to conduct even a basic email search tied to allegations surrounding the so-called “Immaculate Constellation” program.

The request, filed by The Black Vault and assigned case number 25-F-3827, sought a search of emails sent to or from Maj. Gen. Derek J. O’Malley, Director of Special Programs and Director of the Department of Defense Special Access Program Central Office, for communications containing the phrase “Immaculate Constellation.” The request explicitly asked for both classified and unclassified records.

In its final response dated January 26, 2026, the Office of the Secretary of War/Joint Staff stated that no search would be conducted at all.

According to the letter, “a search was not conducted as they confirmed the subject matter itself does not exist, and an extensive email search on the custodian would not yield responsive records.”

The rationale offered by the Department of War hinges entirely on the premise that because the alleged Special Access Program does not exist, records discussing it cannot exist either.

That position stands out as unusual within FOIA practice, where agencies are generally expected to conduct searches for records responsive to the wording of a request, regardless of whether the subject matter later proves to be inaccurate, unsubstantiated, or false.

Allegations, Denials, and Congressional Attention

The phrase “Immaculate Constellation” entered the public record in late 2024 following the submission of a document by Congresswoman Nancy Mace, during the “Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena: Exposing the Truth” hearing held on November 13, 2024.

The document was later revealed to have been authored by Matthew Brown, who was subsequently profiled in a NewsNation investigation examining claims that his whistleblower allegations regarding unidentified anomalous phenomena were ignored by government agencies.

Journalist Michael Shellenberger, who testified at the UAP hearing in November 2024, also submitted extensive testimony about Immaculate Constellation and the UAP topic in general.

In parallel, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence released a one-page, unclassified document under FOIA case DF-2025-00021, explicitly addressing the allegation.

That document summarized press reporting on the purported unacknowledged SAP and included an unequivocal denial from the Department of Defense.

“The Department of Defense has no record, present or historical, of any type of SAP called ‘IMMACULATE CONSTELLATION’,” DoD spokesperson Sue Gough stated in the document.

The ODNI record itself exists precisely because the allegation was circulating publicly and required internal documentation and assessment.

The document also noted that the press had reported the issue would be raised during open hearings with the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office in November 2024.

Government Denial of Existence Does Not Eliminate FOIA Obligations

A central issue raised by FOIA case 25-F-3827 is not whether the alleged “Immaculate Constellation” program exists, but whether the government may decline to process a FOIA request based solely on its own assertion that the subject matter is fictitious.

In its response, the Department of War asserted that because the alleged Special Access Program “does not exist,” an email search would not yield responsive records and therefore was not conducted.

That reasoning conflates the government’s position on the validity of an allegation with its separate obligation under FOIA to search for records responsive to the language of a request.

FOIA does not require a requester to prove that an allegation is true, nor does it allow agencies to decline a search simply because they believe a claim to be false.

Federal agencies routinely create and retain records discussing inaccurate reports, rumors, hoaxes, or media-driven allegations, even when those allegations are ultimately rejected.

Those records may include internal emails responding to press coverage, coordinating official denials, briefing senior leadership, or assessing whether an allegation requires follow-up.

The potential falsity of an underlying claim does not negate the existence of records discussing the claim itself, nor does it relieve an agency of its obligation to search for them.

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence’s one-page release on “Immaculate Constellation” illustrates this distinction.

While the document explicitly denied the existence of the alleged SAP, it nonetheless documented internal awareness of the allegation, summarized press reporting, and recorded official responses.

The existence of that record demonstrates that even when a program is denied, responsive records discussing the allegation itself can and do exist.

That distinction is directly implicated in the Department of War’s handling of case 25-F-3827. The request did not seek confirmation that “Immaculate Constellation” is real.

It sought emails containing a specific phrase, which is language that had already entered official government documentation, congressional submissions, press reporting, and interagency discourse.

Declining to conduct a search on the grounds that the subject matter is alleged to be nonexistent sidesteps the core procedural requirements of the Freedom of Information Act.

Contrasting FOIA Responses Across Agencies

The Department of War’s refusal to conduct a search also contrasts sharply with how other agencies have handled similar requests.

In December 2024, The Black Vault received a response from the National Security Agency to a FOIA request seeking records related to the “alleged USAP ‘Immaculate Constellation.’”

Rather than asserting that no search was necessary, the NSA issued a Glomar response, stating it could neither confirm nor deny the existence of responsive records.

“For reasons described below, we are not able to confirm or deny the existence or nonexistence of these records,” the NSA wrote, adding that “the fact of the existence or non-existence of the materials you request is a currently and properly classified matter.”

The NSA further noted that this was its “standard response to all requests where we reasonably believe that the request seeks intelligence records or records revealing intelligence related activity involving UFOs/UAP.”

While Glomar responses are themselves controversial, they nonetheless reflect acknowledgment of FOIA’s requirement to address the request through established exemption frameworks.

The Department of War’s approach, by contrast, bypassed the search process entirely based on an assertion about subject matter non-existence.

Why the Distinction Matters

The core issue raised by FOIA case 25-F-3827 is not whether “Immaculate Constellation” is real. It is whether an agency may refuse to search records simply because it believes an allegation is false.

FOIA does not permit agencies to pre-judge the outcome of a search and decline to conduct it on that basis alone. Records discussing false claims, responding to media narratives, or coordinating official denials are still records.

Some may be classified, some exempt, and some releasable, but the search itself is a foundational requirement.

By asserting that “an extensive email search on the custodian would not yield responsive records,” without conducting that search, the Department of War effectively substituted an assumption for a records determination.

That approach risks undermining the transparency mechanisms FOIA is designed to enforce, particularly in areas involving secrecy, special access programs, and public controversy.

The response letter does leave the door open for further action, inviting additional “event or file-related information” that might justify a search.

Yet the existence of ODNI records, NSA correspondence, congressional submissions, and widespread press coverage already demonstrates that “Immaculate Constellation” was discussed at senior levels of government, regardless of its factual basis, thus has paved the way for The Black Vault to file an appeal on their initial decision to not honor the request.
