DHS Building Large-scale Detention Network Using Warehouses and Navy-linked Contracts
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) plans to drastically expand the nation’s mass-detention capacity to house illegal migrants by acquiring existing industrial warehouses and converting them into large-scale detention centers and building new massive facilities through a contracting pathway tied to the US Navy.
The proposed centers could house as many as 8,000 detainees at once. Documents showed that 7 new large-scale detention hubs are planned to anchor the project. The funding was acquired through the Trump-suppported ‘One Big Beautiful Bill.’
Critics are concerned that the massive detention infrastructure being built for illegal aliens will be repurposed for quarantine enforcement, detention tied to national security, or other “emergencies”.
