Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky has increasingly made his frustrations with the Trump administration public, but he may have just crossed the line with the US President, who Zelensky admits can be tough and unbending.

Zelensky has newly complained amid the latest Geneva trilateral talks that the US delegation could pressure him to make "unsuccessful decisions" and he is urging Washington to back off, even using expletives to make his point.

For starters, he claims that the Ukrainian public won't let him cede territory to Russia for the sake of peace even if he wanted to, as we highlighted previously.

But the latest colorful verbal broadside, cited by Axios on Tuesday as Russian and Ukrainian delegations convened in Geneva, saw Zelensky take direct aim at the head of Moscow's negotiating team, Vladimir Medinsky. Kiev's frustration at the state of dialogue has been boiling over.

Medinsky has argued - along with numerous Russian officials, including President Vladimir Putin - that the conflict's historical roots must be addressed as part of any settlement, especially given the bulk of the Ukrainian population in the east (Donbas) has always been Russian speaking and looked to Moscow historically.

Zelensky dismissed that approach outright:

"We don’t have time for all this shit," he told the outlet. "So we have to decide, and have to finish the war."

The White House this month has finally appeared to be ratcheting up the pressure directly on Zelensky to make some kind of serious land concession.

This was evident in the latest comments by President Trump on the topic of Geneva issued near the start of the week. Frustration with Kiev was evident when he told reporters aboard Air Force One, "Well, we have big talks." He stated that "It’s going to be very easy. I mean, look, so far, Ukraine better come to the table fast. That’s all I’m telling you."

Zelensky after this bitterly complained that it's 'not fair' for Trump to take aim at Ukraine and not Russia, and suggested maybe it's simply easer for Trump to do this given he doesn't want to upset the far larger, more formidable country.

New Mexico Launches Probe Into What Happened At Epstein's 'Zorro Ranch'

Until now, the public's visualizations of the Jeffrey Epstein scandal have largely centered on his Caribbean Island and his seven-story New York townhouse, but a new setting is poised to take greater prominence, as the New Mexico legislature just launched a wide-ranging investigation into what took place at Epstein's "Zorro Ranch" about 30 miles south of Santa Fe. One line of inquiry focuses on a redacted email in the DOJ files alleging that two "foreign girls" were buried on the property.

“He was basically doing anything he wanted in this state without any accountability whatsoever,” New Mexico state Representative Andrea Romero, a Democrat who co-sponsored the probe, told NBC News. She said there's no indication that the FBI ever searched the property.

With a $2.5 million budget approved by unanimous vote of the legislature, a "truth commission" of Democrats and Republicans will head up the probe into potential criminal activity on the 7,600-acre property that features both a 26,700-square-foot mansion and guest houses. Legislators are urging victims to come forward, but multiple accusations of sexual misconduct at the ranch have already been made. For example:

Annie Farmer, who testified at Ghislaine Maxwell's trial, said Maxwell gave her a nude massage there when Farmer was 16 years old – and that, the next morning, Epstein entered her bed and "pressed his body" into hers.

A victim identifed as "Jane" testified that she was taken to the ranch and abused when she was only 14 years old. “I just remember someone, at one point, just came into [my] room and said: ‘Jeffrey wants to see you,’ and then escorted me to see him.”

The late Virginia Giuffre claimed to have been abused at the ranch, and that Epstein partner-in-crime Ghislaine Maxwell instructed her to "massage" former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson there – with "massage" mutually understood to mean sexual intimacy.

A Santa Fe massage therapist accused Epstein of sexually abusing her at the ranch.

The most disturbing but least-substantiated claim was made anonymously – an email in the possession of the DOJ said two females were buried in the hills near the ranch. Last week, the New Mexico Chief of Criminal Affairs asked the DOJ to give his department "immediate access to a complete, unredacted version of file EFTA01250229" along with forensic information associated with the email and any DOJ documents associated with it.

Five Indicted in Kentucky DMV Scam Flooding Roads with Fake Licenses for Non-Citizen Immigrants

Louisville, KY – A federal grand jury in Louisville returned an Indictment on February 4, 2026, charging five Louisville residents with fraud and money laundering offenses.

U.S. Attorney Kyle G. Bumgarner of the Western District of Kentucky made the announcement.

According to the Indictment, Donnita Wilson, 32; Aariel Matthews, 27; Raul Tellez Ojeda, 32; Lazaro Alejandro Castello Rojas, 37; and Robert Danger Correa, 41; were charged with Mail Fraud (14 counts), Mail Fraud Conspiracy (one count), Honest Services Mail Fraud (14 counts), Honest Services Mail Fraud Conspiracy (one count), Unlawful Production of Identification Documents (14 Counts), and Money Laundering Conspiracy (one count).

The indictment alleges the defendants devised and executed a scheme that solicited illegal fees between $200 and $1,500 from legally present, non-U.S. citizens who were applying for driver’s licenses on the promise that they would be expedited through the process without undergoing testing requirements. In furtherance of the scheme, the indictment alleges that certain conspirators altered information in government databases to bypass important steps in the application process and, thereby, issue invalid licenses to the non-U.S. citizens. The indictment alleges the defendants perpetrated this scheme for their own financial gain, and betrayed the trust placed in them by Kentucky’s Transportation Cabinet.

United States Attorney Kyle Bumgarner stated, “This indictment represents the culmination of an investigation into a scheme by Kentucky Transportation Cabinet employees and others to illegally circumvent Kentucky’s process for issuing driver’s licenses, thereby issuing invalid licenses to lawfully present, non-U.S. citizens who had not first demonstrated their qualifications to drive on our roads. Proper vetting of individuals seeking a driver’s license is a prerequisite to ensuring the safety of Kentucky’s roadways and ensuring the legitimacy of state-issued identification. As alleged in the indictment, this fraudulent scheme involved kickbacks and bribes leading to numerous legally present, non-U.S. citizens obtaining unlawfully issued drivers licenses.”

Several defendants were arraigned on February 9, 2026, before a U.S. Magistrate Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky. If convicted, the defendants face a maximum sentence of 20 years for each count of mail fraud, mail fraud conspiracy, honest services mail fraud, and money laundering. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the sentencing guidelines and other statutory factors.

There is no parole in the federal system.

Sayer Ji told The Defender the files show that Epstein “functioned as a switchboard” connecting “hedge funds, central banks, billionaires, academic institutions and global health initiatives.”

Ji published his analysis of health- and medical-related information in the files in a series of Substack articles and posts on X.

Seamus Bruner, director of research at the Government Accountability Institute, said the files revealed the workings of a network of “Controligarchs on steroids, but with shocking new receipts.”

Bruner said the files showed that Epstein helped develop “the architecture for pandemic profiteering” years before the COVID-19 pandemic.

The documents largely date from the 2010s — after Epstein’s 2008 conviction for soliciting underage sex and his inclusion on a registry of sex offenders.

Ji noted that months before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, many of the same actors who appear in the Epstein files participated in Event 201 — a simulation of a global pandemic caused by a coronavirus.

The pandemic preparedness infrastructure built in the years before the pandemic helped lead to this simulation, Ji wrote.

According to The Hill, members of the U.S. Congress began reviewing unredacted versions of the documents on Monday.

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), who co-sponsored the Epstein Files Transparency Act along with Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), told The Defender the documents’ release is about justice, not politics.

“Rep. Ro Khanna and I have tried to keep the Epstein files from being political. The Democrats want to make it about Trump, and the Republicans want to make it about the Clintons. We want to make it about the survivors and getting them justice and transparency,” Massie said.

Ji’s series of Substack posts revealed what he described as “a 20-year architecture behind pandemics as a business model — with Bill Gates at the center of the network,” along with multinational financial institutions like JPMorgan Chase.

The documents, dating from 2011 to 2019, illustrate an “architecture whose foundations predate the COVID-19 era by more than a decade,” Ji wrote. He said they constitute evidence of “a major Wall Street bank asking a convicted sex offender to define the architecture of a Gates-linked charitable fund.”

Demonstrators accuse Israeli defence firms of profiting from war as dozens of companies showcase "field-proven" weapons.

Israeli protesters gathered outside a major arms exhibition in Tel Aviv, accusing defence companies of using Gaza as a “testing ground” for weapons marketed as "field-proven".

The demonstration took place outside the Defence Tech Expo 2026 on Tuesday, a two-day international defence and security fair being held for the first time at the Tel Aviv Exhibition Centre.

Around 20 demonstrators held placards reading “You are using Gaza as a testing lab” and called for an arms embargo, denouncing what they described as war profiteering linked to Israel’s genocide in the Palestinian enclave.

The protest was organised by an Israeli group that withheld its name, citing security concerns.

In a statement, the group said it was rallying against “the profits of the arms industry from occupation, apartheid and genocide in Gaza” and condemning both the companies exhibiting at the event and the foreign buyers attending.

According to the exhibition’s official website, more than 70 Israeli firms specialising in defence and homeland security are showcasing advanced technologies and solutions described as having been “proven in the field".

Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth reported earlier this month that the expo, organised by the Star Group, is expected to draw dozens of foreign delegations, senior officials and technology investors.

The event is held under the auspices of Israel’s Foreign Ministry, the Foreign Trade Administration at the Economy Ministry, the Israeli Export Institute and the Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce.

The protest comes amid growing scrutiny over the types of weapons used by Israel in Gaza.

In February, an investigative report broadcast by Al Jazeera said Israeli forces used highly destructive thermal and vacuum weapons during the war, citing testimonies from medics and civil defence officials.

A US-backed ceasefire agreement has been in place in Gaza since October 10, partly halting Israel’s genocide that has killed more than 72,000 people, mostly women and children, and wounded over 171,000 others since October 2023.

Since the agreement took effect on October 10, Israeli forces have committed hundreds of violations through shelling and gunfire, killing 603 Palestinians and wounding 1,618 others, according to Gaza’s health ministry.

UAE scrubbing Hind al-Owais from internet after Epstein emails uncovered

References to Emirati diplomat being deleted from official websites and social media accounts, days after hundreds of emails with sex offender revealed by DOJ

Several mentions of Hind al-Owais, an Emirati official whose name appears extensively in the Epstein files, have quietly been scrubbed from the internet, Middle East Eye has found.

Owais has served for some time as the director of the Permanent Committee for Human Rights (PCHR), a body created by the UAE government in 2019 to promote human rights.

Mentions of Owais have been wiped from the organisation’s Instagram, X and LinkedIn accounts, as well as from its website. That includes posts that referred to her as the PCHR’s director as recently as two weeks ago.

Posts from earlier this month which state that “the Director of the UAE's Permanent Committee for Human Rights (PCHR), Hind al-Owais, participated in the 6th Global Tolerance and Human Fraternity Conference…” have been removed from the PCHR’s Instagram and X pages. Previews of the posts were seen by MEE on Google search results.

The sixth Global Tolerance and Human Fraternity Conference was held in Dubai on 2 February 2025.

A page on the website of the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA) - a diplomatic training institute based in the UAE - detailing the speakers and moderator of that event has disappeared. Owais was the moderator.

According to the Wayback Machine, the page was visible as recently as December 2025, but no longer exists. Now it says “404 Page not found. The page you are looking for does not exist. It might have been moved or deleted”.

The AGDA was founded by the ruler of Dubai, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and is named after Anwar Gargash, an influential adviser to UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

At least two posts naming Owais as the director of the PCHR have been scrubbed from the organisation's LinkedIn account too, MEE found.

Addditionally, Google search results show that as of May 2025, there was a profile page for Owais as a past speaker at the World Governments Summit.

The page used to have an image of her and list her experience as “Senior Vice President of International Participants at Expo 2020”.

Two bomb attacks and a gun battle between police and rebel fighters have killed more than a dozen people in northwest Pakistan.

One child and 11 security personnel ⁠were ⁠killed in an attack ‌in Bajaur district of volatile Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Monday, the Pakistani military said on Tuesday. Seven ⁠others, ⁠including women and children, ⁠were injured ⁠in ⁠the incident.

An explosives-laden vehicle detonated while being driven towards a security checkpoint in Bajaur, local police official Zafar Khan told The Associated Press news agency, adding that a girl was killed when a nearby building collapsed due to the force of the blast.

The attack came after rescue officials said two people were killed earlier on Monday when explosives attached to a parked motorcycle detonated near the entrance of a police station in Bannu, another district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa near the Afghan border.

Officials said at least 17 people were injured in the Bannu attack.

Reporting on violence in Bajaur, the AFP news agency said a suicide bomber drove a vehicle rigged with explosives into the wall of a religious college in the district.

As a result, “police and Frontier Corps personnel present inside the seminary were martyred”, a security official told AFP, speaking on condition of anonymity.

It was not known if the explosions reported at the security checkpoint in Bajaur and the seminary blast in the district were linked or separate attacks.

In another incident reported by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police, three police personnel and as many rebel fighters were killed during a search operation in the province’s Shangla district. Police said the deceased fighters were involved in “attacks targeting Chinese nationals”.

Pakistan has seen a surge in unprecedented attacks against its security forces since 2021, coinciding with the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan.

The World Economic Forum (WEF) quietly launched an independent review earlier this month into its CEO, Børge Brende, over his past interactions with Jeffrey Epstein, Bloomberg reports.

Files released by the Department of Justice show Epstein and Brende had three dinners in 2018 and 2019, and exchanged various text messages. One dinner occurred in September 2018, more than a decade after Epstein's 2008 conviction and guilty plea in Florida for procuring a child for prostitution, and another on June 13, 2019, shortly before Epstein's final arrest on federal sex-trafficking charges.

Like many powerful figures, Brende has claimed that he was unaware of Epstein's criminal history at the time of their meetings, and is said to have ordered the probe into his communications with Epstein.

"I was completely unaware of Epstein’s past and criminal activities," Brende said in a statement to Bloomberg. "Had I known about his background, I would have declined the initial invitation and any subsequent dinner invitations or other communications.”

"I recognize that I could have conducted a more thorough investigation into Epstein’s history, and I regret not doing so,” he added.

Klaus Schwab, who founded the WEF in 1971, has maintained that he is “certain” that he never met with Epstein, a press representative told Bloomberg.

Beyond Brende's direct contacts, the released files highlight Epstein's broader efforts to leverage the prestige of the WEF's annual Davos meeting. Despite reportedly claiming to "hate" the Forum in private, Epstein positioned himself as a self-described "Davos concierge" to facilitate access for his associates.

For instance, in late 2009, months after his release from Florida incarceration, Epstein corresponded with Boris Nikolic, an immunologist and regular Davos attendee, offering to arrange one-on-one meetings. "I can organize a 1:1 meeting with most people there. One 'virtual currency' I have is access ;)," Epstein wrote while sharing a participant list, according to Bloomberg.

San Antonio CEO Pleads Guilty to Over $69 Million Investment Fraud Scheme

SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio man who conducted a $69.5 million fraud scheme pleaded guilty in federal court Tuesday to one count of wire fraud, announced U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Texas, Justin R. Simmons.

According to court documents, from January 2023 to March 2025, Devin Ward Elder, 47, fraudulently raised more than $69.5 million from approximately 345 investor victims that participated in 17 real estate investments. Elder was the founder and CEO of the San Antonio-based investment firm, DJE Texas Management Group, LLC, which was formed in March 2015 and employed dozens of people. DJE invested in multifamily apartments, industrial flexible workspace units, land projects, commercial building projects, and offered investment in a so-called “Income Fund.” Fourteen of DJE’s 17 offered investments acquired real property, and each property was owned by a separate LLC created for the limited purpose of purchasing and owning the investment property.

Elder induced his victims to invest with him and made a series of material misrepresentations promising high returns with low risk. Among many other false representations, Elder promised that he would “co-invest” his own money. Additionally, in classic Ponzi fashion, Elder made interest payments to investors of one project using investor funds from other projects without disclosing the nature or source of those interest payments. Over the 26-month life of the scheme, investors received approximately $8.8 million in payments that Elder purported to be “interest” and “principal” payments. In reality, many of the payments consisted of the investments of investors in other funds rather than actual investment returns.

In March 2025, Elder halted interest payments to the victim-investors. He notified the investors that his businesses were having financial difficulties, the projects would not be completed, and they should expect to lose a large portion of their investments.

Elder was charged with one count of wire fraud on Jan. 28 and summoned to appear in federal court on Feb. 17, at which time he pleaded guilty. Elder is scheduled to be sentenced the week of June 2 and faces up to 20 years in prison. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

Elbit signs $277 million, 3-year contract with undisclosed international customer

Elbit Systems has signed a $277 million contract with an undisclosed international customer, the defense firm said Wednesday.

Under the agreement, Elbit will supply its UT30 MK2 turret system and associated ammunition over three years. The turret is designed to increase the firepower of armored personnel carriers (APCs).

Ex-MP Rory Amon to fight allegations he sexually assaulted teenager

A former NSW MP’s two-week trial over allegations he sexually assaulted a teenager is due to begin.

A former NSW MP accused of sexually assaulting a teenager will fight the allegations during a two-week trial.

Roderick “Rory” Amon was arrested in August 2024 and charged with a string of historical child sexual offences.

He has pleaded not guilty to five counts of having sexual intercourse with a person aged between 10 and 14, two counts each of indecent assault of a person under 16 years of age and attempting sexual intercourse with a child aged over 10 and under 14, and one count of commit act of indecency with person under 16 years.

Mr Amon will fight the allegations before a two-week jury trial due to begin in the Supreme Court of NSW on Thursday.
