"Never give up" - Donald Trump Gets a Degree (2010)
On 8 October 2010, Donald Trump was awarded a Doctor of Business Administration honorary degree from Aberdeen’s Robert Gordon University. This accolade came in the midst of Trump’s ongoing battle with the Scottish Government and lobby groups over the building of a luxury golf resort on the Menie Estate in Balmedie, and the purposed wind farm on the coast of that development. The legal dispute would be settled in 2015, the same year the university would strip him of the degree for hateful rhetoric during his first presidential campaign.
In his acceptance speech, Trump covered backlash to the resort, his parents' marriage, his connection to Scotland, his television success, and his defining business principle; “never give up”.
