Iran has come under attack on key railway lines—approximately 10 sections of track and bridges have been destroyed. The routes from Miyaneh to Hashtrud to Tabriz to Zanjan and the section from Kashan to Karaj have been hit.
This involves the disruption of several key corridors at once: the northwestern corridor (via Tabriz) and the north–south axis through Tehran. Separately, the B1 bridge at the northwestern entrance to the capital has been destroyed, as well as the bridge south of Kashan—another key point through which traffic to Isfahan and onward to the ports passes.
🖍Such strikes are one of the clearest signs that a ground operation is imminent. Before going in on the ground, they first cut off logistics to prevent the rapid redeployment of forces.
A telling example is the Isfahan area. The highway there was previously targeted during a U.S. search-and-rescue operation to hinder IRGC movements. The logic is the same now, but with a shift toward broader objectives.
❗️The key point is the bridges. With limited network connectivity, they become chokepoints: taking out a few key points causes movement to break down immediately across large areas, which, in the context of a ground operation, has a greater impact than strikes against individual convoys.
Essentially, they are now disrupting logistics and isolating routes while simultaneously testing areas for potential operations—a strategy that can be scaled up as needed.
