The wavelenth from an EMP is about 3m, so a device like a car battery, or a cell phone can only absorb a TINY fraction of the energy produced.
With mossfets, capacitors, transformers etc, this will balance and regulate the tiny additional current, and NOTHHING WILL HAPPEN.
What can happen, and this is the ONLY reported effect of an actual EMP, is that long distance cables can absorb the additional current, and this can be very damaging to electrical grids due to the length of the transmission wires, and the fact they go out in all directions, but this will just trip the lightning surge protections, and , once again, NOTHING will happen.
