The United Nations is still trying to understand US statements that the Strait of Hormuz is open, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said on Monday.
“There’s not much clarity at this point, but what we do not want to see is a return to outright kinetic activity in this area,” Dujarric told UN reporters.
Reports of an exchange of fire in the strait and the United Arab Emirates intercepting Iranian missiles were concerning, he said.
“We need to see a return of what has been centuries of practice of common law, which is freedom of navigation in these waters,” Dujarric said.

Israeli air defense system in UAE intercepted Iran missile - CNN
An Israeli air defense system deployed to the United Arab Emirates was used to intercept an incoming Iranian missile on Monday, CNN reported, citing a source familiar with the matter.
Israel had secretly deployed an Iron Dome aerial defense system and soldiers to operate it to the UAE at the beginning of the war with Iran, the report said.

More commercial ships are en route to travel across the Strait of Hormuz after two US-flagged vessels successfully left the waterway, Newsmax reported, citing an interview with CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper.
