>But, if it's just now a "thing," why was this written in March?

Death by Hantavirus pulmonary assault made the rounds in April of 2025 when the much younger wife of Gene Hackman was found dead, along with Gene Hackman and one of their dogs (in a crate). The other dogs survived, who were loose.

He had known ailments.

She did not.

It was determined weeks after they were discovered dead that she reportedly died from Hantavirus, that there were 8 buildings on the premises and some of them had rodents nests.

Well, gggggoolllllyyyy.

Wecome to all of TX, NM, AZ, UT, part of CA, CO, KS, WY, and other states, particularly in the drier parts of the West. There are often outbuildings if there is any extra space around the house. There are often rodents. And rodents often nest. You do have to stay on top of it.

But that does not mean everyone in any of those scenarios will die from Hantavirus, even if exposed.

She was reportedly in her early 50's, healthy, and fit.

Intrigue: If he died first, she got everything, apparently. His 3 kiddos were not heirs. She had no children. And if she died first, or within a certain number of days of her, all of her property went to charities.

So, it became important to figure out who died first. If she died before him, she may not have inherited his estate, reportedly worth hundreds of millions, to give to charity, and if his will did not have contingent beneficiaries [which would be hard to believe of a man of his caliber of wealth and sophistication, but none are mentioned and the press doesn't likely know], then his kids might inherit as a matter of law.

It was ultimately determined that she died a few days before before he did.

So his estate did not go to her as it would have had he died first and then ultimately to the charities of her choosing.

So it will go to his contingent beneficiaries, if any, in his will, or to his children, one would presume, as if he had died without a will.

Article:

"… AuthoritiesbelieveMs Hackman died around 12 February and her husband on 18 February, with their bodies discovered on 26 February.

"Medical investigators believe Ms Arakawa contracted hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS), a life-threatening lung condition with symptoms including fatigue, fever, muscle aches, dizziness and abdominal issues, which led to a sudden death.

"Hantavirus refers to a strain of viruses carried by rodents, primarily transmitted to humans through inhalation of airborne particles from dried rodent droppings.

"Infections typically occur when the virus becomes airborne from a rodent's urine, droppings, or saliva, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

"If respiratory symptoms develop during HPS, the mortality rate is approximately 38%, according to the CDC. The agency reported 864 cases of hantavirus in the US between 1993 and 2022, mostly in rural western states.

"Mr Hackman's cause of death was severe heart disease, with advanced Alzheimer's disease listed as a contributing factor. Experts told the BBC his Alzheimer's may have prevented him from realising his wife of more than 30 years was dead in the home where he was living."

>> transmitted to humans through inhalation of airborne particles from dried rodent droppings.

Correct. The panic-control news is emphasizing slim (but not no) risk of transmission person-to-person - particularly because of the significant number of international world travelers expected to enter to U.S. for the World Cup next month!

No one ever said: Inhale away freely - without some mask protection - when sweeping up dust and rodent droppings (causing particles to go airborne) in a neglected outbuilding !!!
