#OTD in 1968, USS Scorpion (SSN-589) was lost with all hands. This is one of the last known photos of the submarine. It was taken by USS Tallahatchie County near Naples just prior to the Scorpion departing on her final voyage. CDR Francis Slattery is visible atop the sub's sail. 1968 was a tragic year for submarine services. The Scorpion, the Soviet K-129, the French Minerve (S647) and the Israeli INS Dakar were all lost to unknown causes, taking the lives of 318 men.

One mother told Channel 12 that parents and staff have increasingly complained about crow attacks.
