New details have come to light about the alleged terror plot that was intended to target the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House on Sunday, including the identity of the ringleader, a foreign national named Abraham Alvarez of Omaha, Nebraska.

The Department of Justice announced in a press release on Sunday, “According to the charges, Tycen C. Proper, 19, of Danville, Ohio; Bryan Omar Roa, 24, of Calimesa, California; Michael Alan Thomas, 32, of Pinon Hills, California; Daniel K. Eskridge, 32, of Kidder, Missouri; and Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez, 31, of Omaha, Nebraska, conspired to plan and execute a mass casualty event targeting U.S. officials in attendance at UFC Freedom 250 hosted on the White House grounds.”

“The conspirators allegedly planned to deploy drones armed with explosives in and around the UFC Freedom 250 event in order to force an evacuation of the event and then planned to deploy snipers to fire upon ‘high value targets’ within the fleeing crowd,” the press release continues.

Alvarez, who went by the name “Shepherd” in an encrypted messaging app, was allegedly “responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the planned attack, based on conversation excerpts in June,” according to the FBI and Department of Justice.

“This is the best action I see. Position your teams in the purple dots (counter sniper and drones) Long range (circled area) (great shot) Easy out into the river,” Alvarez allegedly posted in the group chat used by conspirators. Alvarez also discussed making explosive drones, directing another to build “As many and as deadly as we can get,” according to the criminal complaint.

He further provided directions to the other conspirators to a church in Nebraska to be used as a safe zone, a “pick up location,” and locations in the White House area to be used as drone launch points and sniper positions, the complaint alleges.

According to Nebraska Public Media, Alvarez consented to a consular notification during his initial court appearance on Tuesday. While his immigration status and country of origin remain unclear, a consular notification is required when foreign nationals are arrested to notify the embassy or consulate of the suspect’s home country.

Alvarez will appear in court again on June 24 for a preliminary hearing.

The FBI started its investigation based on a tip from 19-year-old Tycen Proper’s mother after she told law enforcement she was concerned “due to his recent conduct, including firearms purchases and communicating with certain individuals online,” according to an FBI agent’s affidavit. Tycen Proper went on to admit, during an interview on June 11, “to planning with others a coordinated attack against the United States government during the UFC event scheduled to take place on the White House lawn in Washington, D.C., on Sunday, June 14, 2026,” according to the affidavit. Details of the Conviction

The court found that Eduardo Bolsonaro, while in the United States, acted to interfere with the STF's proceedings in the case involving his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro.

Prosecutors from the Procuradoria-Geral da República (PGR) accused him of using contacts in the US government—during Donald Trump's administration—to lobby for sanctions, visa restrictions, and other measures against Brazilian authorities, including STF justices. These actions allegedly aimed to intimidate judges and obstruct the trial that resulted in Jair Bolsonaro's conviction.

Yates has long voiced concerns about the ritualistic land acknowledgements imposed at Chatelech Secondary School in Sunshine Coast School District 46, questioning the practice as a form of compelled speech that undermines free expression.

When Yates publicly opposed the acknowledgements, heckling one at a school event, the district banned her from school property and prompted child services to investigate her family. Appeals to the district failed.

An angry Premier Danielle Smith says it is “disgraceful” that Alberta treaty chiefs are calling for the RCMP and Auditor General to investigate her and members of the UCP government over allegations their actions may amount to treason under the Criminal Code.

The Assembly of Treaty Chiefs of Treaty No. 6, Treaty No. 7 and Treaty No. 8 unanimously passed the resolution during a meeting held Tuesday on Treaty No. 7 territory in Calgary.

The chiefs said the investigation should examine whether Smith and the UCP violated treaty obligations, created risks to Canadian sovereignty through a referendum and failed to address alleged privacy violations affecting millions of people.

They also claimed the government’s actions have taken place amid “significant risks of foreign interference and influence.”

Smith told the Western Standard on Wednesday that she had her “differences with the federal government” on many policies, but she would never use the sort of inflammatory language that the treaty chiefs are using.

“I would ask the treaty chiefs to check themselves because we have a very collaborative relationship between our government and our ministers. I want that to continue,” Smith said.

“But this kind of overwrought language has no place in a democracy.”

She added that when the chiefs had been pursuing a new relationship with Ottawa, she “cheered them on” and would hope they would respect her jurisdiction.

Smith's Chief of Staff Rob Anderson had previously slammed the chiefs earlier in the day.

"What a dangerous and irresponsible letter by Treaty Chiefs. Asking the RCMP to investigate and charge a Premier with treason because you disagree with her policy (to hold a referendum in this case) is a dark path that we see in 3rd world banana republics. It is wrong, it is unAlbertan and it is unCanadian…period," he tweeted.

The resolution calls for immediate action by the RCMP and the Auditor General to determine whether the conduct meets the threshold for treason under Section 46 of the Criminal Code.

The Assembly said the RCMP has a historical obligation tied to the former Northwest Mounted Police, which it said committed at the time of treaty to help ensure the safety of First Nations and their territories.

The chiefs said the Crown guaranteed peace and goodwill between First Nations and Canada in exchange for sharing the lands.

The Assembly said the resolution represents a united position from the chiefs of Treaty No. 6, Treaty No. 7 and Treaty No. 8 territories.

The demand marks a sharp escalation in tensions between treaty leadership and the Smith government, with chiefs accusing the province of undermining treaty rights and placing the treaty relationship at risk.

When asked how the UCP government planned to rebuild trust between itself and the Assembly, Smith stated she and her ministers had met with them “regularly,” adding she has asked them how many times they have “met with the Prime Minister when he's brought together ten or fourteen of his ministers to deal with [their] concerns?”

“You know what the answer is? Never,” she said before reiterating her government’s commitment to having a mutually respectful relationship with the Assembly.

“But it can only be done if they show as much respect for my government as we have shown for them,” she stated.

Data from the RCMP's 2025 Commissioner of Firearms Report, first reported by TheGunBlog.ca, shows there were 2,458,677 Canadians holding a Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL) as of Dec. 31, 2025. That's an increase of nearly 47,000 licence holders from the previous year and a 1.9 percent annual gain.

Every province and territory saw growth.

Ontario added the largest number of new licence holders, with 15,221 additional PAL holders, followed by Alberta and British Columbia, each adding more than 10,000. Quebec surpassed 500,000 licensed gun owners for the first time in nearly two decades.

The figures come after years of federal efforts to restrict firearms ownership, including the 2020 Order-in-Council gun ban, a national handgun freeze, ongoing confiscation plans and repeated attempts to portray licensed gun owners as a public safety problem.

Instead, the number of licensed firearms owners has continued to climb. In fact, PAL ownership has increased in 15 of the last 16 years. The only decline came during the COVID-19 pandemic, when lockdowns and course cancellations disrupted licensing. Continue…

Canada's Chief Science Advisor has billed taxpayers more than $415,000 in travel expenses since taking the job, including a dozen business-class flights to Paris and luxury hotel stays costing hundreds of dollars a night.

According to records obtained through Access to Information by Blacklock's Reporter, Chief Science Advisor Mona Nemer has accumulated $415,835 in travel expenses since being appointed in 2017. Within just two months of taking the position, Nemer billed taxpayers nearly $19,000 for travel across Canada and the United States, including a $10,433 business-class trip to Paris.

The records show Nemer took 12 trips to Paris, ten to Washington, five to Tokyo, five to London and three to Brussels. One business-class trip to Stockholm and Madrid cost taxpayers more than $10,000.

Nemer defended the spending during testimony before the House of Commons science committee last November, describing the travel as "science diplomacy."

"I do quite a bit of outreach in my position," Nemer told MPs. "It's people helping each other to advance science."

Long-serving Conservative MP Cathay Wagantall announced Wednesday that she will retire from federal politics at the end of August, substantially earlier than her previously stated plan to serve until the next federal election.

Wagantall said her original intention was to continue representing the riding through the next federal election, but has instead chosen to depart on August 31 to prioritize time with her husband, children, and ten grandchildren.

“The depth of support I’ve received over the past four elections has been both sobering and affirming. Sobering, in light of the overwhelming hardships imposed on the lives of those I represent. The economic sabotage and unethical, regressive overreach of the Carney-Trudeau government continues to deeply affect Canadians,” her statement reads.

First elected in 2015, Wagantall has served four terms as a strong voice for rural Saskatchewan values in Ottawa.

Wagantall thanked her staff, constituents, and Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, describing him as the leader Canada needs at this critical time. She also endorsed local candidate Nelson Pohl as her replacement.

The decision to step down gracefully stands in contrast to several predecessors and recent Conservative colleagues who crossed the floor to the Liberals, allowing the minority government to secure a backroom deal majority rule.

A judge has cited a B.C. man’s Indigenous heritage when sentencing him for the violent murders of his wife and teenage son. Orlan Marcel Dennis has been sentenced to life in prison and will be eligible for parole in 10 years, according to a recent decision from the B.C. Supreme Court.

The Dennis home was the scene of multiple murders in early April 2024. After accusing his wife Darlene of cheating on him, Dennis shot her in the face. Then, when his 18-year-old son, Dorian, responded after hearing the gunshot, Dennis shot him too. Police found the bodies, while an RCMP negotiator tried to convince Dennis to lay down his rifle and leave his mother’s home, where he went after the killings. But he came out, gun in hand, and police shot him twice before arresting him. This tragedy followed several years of addiction and violent assaults against Dennis’s wife and daughters.

But Justice Simon Coval noted in his sentencing decision that both Dennis’s parents were residential school survivors and he “grew up poor in a remote environment of violence and drug and alcohol abuse.” Dennis, was a member of the Tsay Keh Dene First Nation, an Indigenous reserve of around 235 members.

According to an “Indigenous sentencing report” used by Coval in considering the sentence, Dennis also said he had been sexually abused by a community member when he was young, went into foster care at seven and left school early. Also, a brother died a violent death and his sister and cousin died from drug overdoses.

The court relied on “the connection between Mr. Dennis’s crimes and the Indigenous sentencing factors present in his upbringing.” It also sought to spare Dennis’s family from suffering through a trial, noting, based on a joint submission by the Crown and defence counsel that one of his sons “need not testify about the horrific events which he witnessed” in the home.

He admitted to the fatal shooting of his wife and son and pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder in the BCSC in April 2025. Continue…

Ontario police have shut down a large contraband cigarette manufacturing plant on a First Nation’s reserve that was allegedly run by non-Indigenous criminal networks accused of exploiting indigenous lands to cover their activities.

The bootleg cigarette plant was staffed by 13 people identified as foreign nationals, police said after the raids.

Officers with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Six Nations Police Service seized five complete commercial-sized cigarette manufacturing lines, a handgun, and tobacco products with an estimated street value of more than $10 million, police said Wednesday.

The products seized include more than 40,000 kilograms of contraband tobacco (both as fine cut tobacco and completed cigarettes) and 300 kilograms of shisha tobacco, which is typically used in a hookah or water pipe, police said. Continue…
