Pulte, the Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency, became a national flashpoint after President Trump tapped him for a major intelligence role. We were told the controversy was about qualifications, surveillance authority, and fear of political weaponization.
Fine. Ask those questions.
But do not ignore the obvious.
Pulte had also been involved in mortgage-related referrals and inquiries involving powerful Trump opponents, including Adam Schiff.
If the Schiff mortgage issue is supposedly baseless, why did Pulte’s connection to it become so explosive?
Now the same pattern is appearing with Todd Blanche.
President Trump has nominated Blanche to serve as Attorney General. Schiff, who sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee, immediately called for the Senate to oppose him.
Again, Schiff says this is about politicizing DOJ.
But Schiff is not a neutral observer.

11 skydivers and the pilot died after the plane turned around shortly after takeoff.

The SunZia Wind Project, the largest wind farm in the United States, is scheduled to kick off operations this month, roughly three years after construction activities began on the project, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) said in a June 12 statement.
“The wind farm, located in New Mexico, has a total net summer generating capacity of 3,650 megawatts (MW) and is composed of 916 wind turbines,” the EIA said.
“SunZia’s capacity is more than three times larger than the next two largest wind farms, Alta Wind in Southern California (1,098 MW) and Great Prairie in northern Texas (1,027 MW).”
Some of the turbines had already begun producing power and contributing to the electricity grid by April this year, during a testing phase. The wind farm, spread across three counties, is coming online after almost two decades of permitting and planning.
Once operational, much of the wind farm’s power will be exported to Southern California and Arizona.
According to Pattern Energy, which built the project, the wind farm and electricity transmission projects are estimated to generate $20.5 billion in economic benefits throughout the project’s life. Continue…

Firefighters were called to the scene of a collision involving two aircraft at around 9 am. Acting Rio de Janeiro State Governor Claudio Castro confirmed that all six people aboard were killed.
Tree and Argentine YouTuber Gaspi were among the victims. They shared one of the helicopters with a music producer and a music video director, along with the pilot, Globo1 reported, citing the police.
The second helicopter reportedly carried only its pilot.

Canada’s Liberal government under Prime Minister Mark Carney released an AI plan that includes the building of controversial data centers.
In early June, Carney and Artificial Intelligence Minister Evan Solomon announced “AI for All,” which promises more use of the technology in official government business.
“Our strategy, AI for All, is designed to put Canadians back in control, to build trust, to seize opportunities, and above all, to harness AI to improve lives, and indeed to save them,” Carney said.
Solomon claimed that because people have “trust” concerns over the use of AI the government would make sure it’s “safe.”
According to the Liberals’ AI document, plans will be put in place to build controversial “large-scale” data centers with no less than 100 megawatts and some as high as 850 megawatts by 2030.
AI data centers have become more common in the United States but are rare in Canada. There are concerns from some that they cause low-level humming noises in communities and use excessive amounts of water.
One study from the Houston Advanced Research Center (HARC) found that data centers in Texas used 49 billion gallons of water in 2025 alone, with that number skyrocketing to 399 billion gallons by the year 2030.
The Carney government’s AI plan says it will create 250,000 new AI-related jobs by 2031 and that business use of AI will go from 12 percent to 60 percent by 2034. Continue…

The application was filed on behalf of Bradley and Linda Osborne, a married couple from Foothills County, Alberta, whose household was selected to complete the mandatory long-form census. A record number of people left Canada in 2025, according to new Statistics Canada data.
Statistics Canada’s latest international migration estimates show 120,640 people emigrated from Canada last year breaking the previous record of 118,409 set the year pior.
Ontario led the country in number of departures, with 56,266 people leaving, nearly half (47%) of all emigration from Canada, disproportionately higher than Ontario’s share of the country’s population (39%).
British Columbia recorded the second-highest number of departures at 25,145, followed by Quebec at 15,913 and Alberta at 14,690.
British Columbia posted the highest emigration rate per capita, with approximately 442 emigrants per 100,000 residents.
That was well above the national average of roughly 290 per 100,000 people.
Together, Ontario and British Columbia accounted for about two-thirds of all Canadians who left the country in 2025.
The figures also show Quebec experienced its highest level of emigration since 1971, while Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta all recorded the highest annual totals on record.
The increase comes amid ongoing concerns about housing affordability, cost-of-living pressures and economic uncertainty.
The trend also coincided with a sharp slowdown in immigration.
Statistics Canada reported that immigration to Canada fell 19% in 2025 after the federal government reduced targets for permanent residents, temporary foreign workers and international students.
Movement within Canada also slowed. Interprovincial migration fell roughly 9% compared with the previous year, suggesting fewer Canadians were relocating between provinces.
The data does not identify why individual Canadians chose to leave the country.
Among those who have publicly discussed leaving is Canadian YouTuber Clyde Nichols, known online as “Clyde Do Something,” who relocated to Texas and cited political and cultural concerns as factors in his decision.
“Under the guise of woke culture, the government of Canada has transformed the landscape,” Nichols told the Western Standard.
“I don’t see it as a winning strategy. I have, at best, 80 to 90 trips around the sun on this ball in space.”

The well-known activist says one of his two smartphones was seized along with his passport five minutes after he started speaking in Madrid’s Puerta del Sol public square.
“Taken to the police station, fingerprinted, treated like a criminal because I showed up at the public square to have peaceful conversations about how children are being harmed,” Elston posted June 14 on X. “Spain has done nothing to stop giving kids puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones.”
The Spanish National Police did not respond to a request for comment by time of publication.
Elston said he wasn’t clear about what specific infraction he was being accused of, but that Spanish police told him he couldn’t film with a tripod. He was released several hours after his arrest and returned to the same square where he continued speaking with people.

A 12-year-old boy is facing an attempted murder charge after a Toronto police officer was hit by a stolen vehicle northeast of the city’s downtown core.
The officer was taken to hospital with “serious but non-life threatening injuries” after police opened fire on the vehicle that struck him, Toronto police said in an early morning June 15 X post. The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) told reporters later in the day that he has been released from hospital.
A seriously injured 12-year-old suspect was also taken to hospital, where he remains, SIU spokesperson Kristy Denette said at a press conference.
Denette said it was not yet clear whether the boy was injured by gunfire, but several bullets hit the vehicle.
“The injury could be from a bullet, could be a graze, could be glass from the vehicle,” she said. “We don’t yet know that.”

An Ottawa elementary school says it will not hold a previously planned drag queen story time event in observance of Pride Month following opposition from some parents.
Mutchmor Public Elementary School said in an email to parents that the event, scheduled for June 19, had been intended to promote literacy and “themes of equity, diversity and visibility in a unique and memorable way,” but that it would not be held due to “questions about curricular alignment.”
“We continue to support and direct our efforts to integrate the core themes of acceptance, diversity, and belonging directly into our daily practice and reinforce these values consistently throughout the school year in alignment with the Ontario Curriculum,” the letter from principal Sandy Miller and vice-principal Marc Laliberté said.
The school said it remained committed to fostering an “inclusive and welcoming environment” for students and honouring the “accomplishments of the 2SLGBTQI+ community.”
Another email sent to parents earlier this month, obtained by CTV News, said drag performer Adrianna Exposée would come to the school for the second time. The June 1 email said that drag story time is “not a theatrical performance” and that Exposée would read an “age-appropriate picture book chosen by your child’s teacher that focuses on love and celebrating our differences.”
Exposée told CTV she had participated in similar events at Mutchmor and other Ottawa schools and said the cancellation was due to parental pushback, but didn’t provide more details. Continue…

A Beijing-linked cyberespionage group spent more than a year infiltrating research institutions across North America before being detected, according to a new report from Google.
In a report published on June 15, the Google Threat Intelligence Group said the hacking campaign, which ran from September 2023 through November 2025, primarily targeted academic, medical, and military research organizations in the United States and Canada.
According to the report, the attackers sought information from medical research to defense intelligence, military strategy in the Indo-Pacific, artificial intelligence, unmanned vehicles, and cyber warfare.
The hacker group, which Google tracks as UNC6508, is believed to have been active since at least 2023. Google’s cybersecurity experts began monitoring the threat actor in early 2025 and referenced it in a report released in February. Continue…

“The situation we’re in collectively right now with Mythos and Fable is something that can happen with over-reliance on certain models,” Carney told reporters Sunday during a visit to Ireland, referring to the AI models’ names.
“Nobody’s done anything wrong in this situation, but we will have done something wrong if we just accept this, don’t take the lesson, don’t build out and diversify,” he said.
The message dovetails with Carney’s overriding policy theme of diversification since he became prime minister. Prime Minister Mark Carney arrived at the annual G7 Leaders’ summit on Monday in France, with no official bilateral meeting confirmed with U.S. President Donald Trump.
The summit will run from June 15 to 17 in Evian-les-Bains, with leaders from Italy, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, Brazil, South Korea and India among the list of participants. Countries from the Gulf are also participating, including the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
Trump’s appearance at the leaders’ summit comes just one day after he announced the U.S. has reached a peace deal with Iran and instructed the naval blockade to leave the Strait of Hormuz.
The president was greeted by French President Emmanuel Macron, who holds the G7 presidency this year.

A judge has reserved a decision on whether a transgender inmate being held at a men’s prison, Amanda Cooper, should be moved to a women’s facility.
Cooper, 59, has a history of sexual offences against women in Quebec that date back to the 1980s. The crimes were committed when Cooper was living as a man. Cooper has been deemed a dangerous offender and is serving a third federal sentence after a 2001 conviction. While in prison, Cooper underwent gender surgery.
Lawyers argued virtually before federal court Justice Janet Fuhrer on Monday morning.
The case was taken to federal court for judicial review after Cooper was involuntarily transferred from one men’s institution to another, despite identifying as a woman.
Correctional Service Canada says the decision to move Cooper from Atlantic Institution in New Brunswick to Millhaven Institution in Ontario in 2025 was because of Cooper’s refusal to integrate into the prison population. Montreal-based Marconi Technologies will be the first Canadian company to be awarded a contract under the Security Action for Europe (SAFE) agreement, a European defence procurement program with 150 billion euros in financing at its disposal.
Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the more than $10-million contract ahead of his first meeting at the G7 Leaders’ Summit in Evian, France, on Monday. Marconi will supply made-in-Canada tactical radios for the Polish army, in partnership with Polish-based company Enamor International.
Deliveries are expected later this year and will continue until 2030.
SAFE was adopted by the Council of the European Union in May 2025, as the continent attempts to boost its defence industrial and technological capabilities.
Canada officially joined SAFE in May of this year and is the only non-European country to gain membership in the procurement program.
The EU is expected to unlock nearly 800 billion euros in spending over the next four years to boost its defence readiness as the U.S. intends to decrease its military resources on the continent.

The federal Liberal government will be handing responsibilities for enforcing new privacy provisions to the recently announced digital regulator that will steer the government’s online safety regime.
Artificial Intelligence Minister Evan Solomon said that for years the government has faced calls about the need for a standalone tech regulator that would come equipped with stronger enforcement powers to levy penalties and enhance Canadians’ safety online.
“We believe that it’s very important to set up a robust commission that has those enforcement powers and that’s what we’re doing, in as quick a manner as possible,” he told reporters on Monday.
“We think Canada needs that kind of independent regulator.”
The creation of a new regulator was announced last week, when Heritage Minister Marc Miller tabled the Safe Social Media Act, which proposes requiring social media platforms and companies operating AI chatbots to take additional steps to reduce users’ exposure to different types of harms and adhere to a social media ban for children under 16 unless an exemption has been granted.
