EU denies supporting migrant resettlement in Libya
BY LIBYAN EXPRESS JUN 06, 2026 - 02:13
EU ambassador reiterates Libya’s sovereign right to control its borders
The European Union’s ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orlando, has reiterated that the EU does not support the resettlement of irregular migrants or refugees in Libya, rejecting what he described as ongoing misinformation campaigns surrounding the issue.
In a post on X following a meeting with Libya’s acting Foreign Minister, Taher Al-Baour, Orlando stressed that Libya, like all sovereign states, has the right to determine who may legally enter its territory and to cooperate with regional and international partners in combating human trafficking and migrant smuggling.
His remarks come amid growing public concern over migration issues in Libya and follow protests in Tripoli against what demonstrators described as plans to settle migrants in the country. Protesters blocked the entrance to the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in the Al-Sarraj area with earth barriers, while others breached the outer perimeter of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya headquarters in Janzour.
The UN mission has also rejected allegations that any of its agencies, including UNHCR, are implementing programmes aimed at resettling migrants in Libya, describing such claims as entirely unfounded.
Earlier, Al-Baour told Libya Al-Ahrar that the European Union had never proposed turning Libya into a “third country” for hosting migrants. He added that Tripoli had previously rejected a European migration pact that would have involved returning migrants to their points of departure.
Addressing the role of UN agencies, Al-Baour said Libyan authorities had recently requested a review of legal agreements signed with UN bodies over recent years. He noted that UNHCR issues refugee documentation to only seven nationalities: Somalis, Eritreans, Sudanese, South Sudanese, Yemenis, Syrians and Palestinians.
According to Al-Baour, these documents are intended to facilitate the transfer of recognised refugees to third countries rather than allow permanent residence in Libya. He said the process is carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and relevant security agencies.
The acting foreign minister also said Libyan authorities, working alongside the International Organization for Migration and UNHCR, have facilitated the return or relocation of more than 30,000 migrants. Of that total, around 9,000 were processed through UNHCR programmes.
Al-Baour attributed the growing number of migrants stranded in Libya to declining acceptance rates in destination countries, which he said has contributed to a backlog of migrants and refugees remaining in the country.

Iran football federation chief Mehdi Taj lashed out at the United States on Sunday, after he and senior federation officials were denied visas to enter the country for the World Cup.
“The rulers of America are so hated that no one wants to go to that country, but in the end the World Cup is being held there and the players have to go there,” said the IRGC-linked president of Iran's football federation.

Ghalibaf says Iran not afraid of US talks collapsing
“Neither diplomacy prevents military operations, nor do military operations prevent diplomacy,” he said. “At one point, with the threat of an attack and cutting off negotiations, you prevent Israel’s attack on Beirut.
At another point, with an attack, you show that you are not afraid of negotiations being cut off and that you are fully prepared.”
“By God’s grace, the result is that they are forced to retreat over our rights and we establish our own rights,” Ghalibaf added.
“So it is not that we are supposed to either fight or negotiate,” Ghalibaf added.
“Rather, we are supposed to fight when it is time, and negotiate when it is time. This is how we can defeat the enemy. This is how, when we say negotiation is the continuation of struggle, it becomes real.”
Ghalibaf also rejected claims of divisions among Iranian officials, saying: “Contrary to what some think, that there is no coordination among officials, no. There is full coordination among officials to reach the objectives.”
“The hands of our armed forces are always open for action,” he said. “Our goal is to end the war and create lasting security, not fireworks in relations with America. We also have no trust in the other side.”
He described the US naval blockade as a “war crime” and said Iran would turn it into another defeat for its enemies.
“With national cohesion, diplomacy of power and military strength under the command of the Leader, we will make the enemy lose hope in the surrender of the Iranian people.”

The Alarming and Deeply Disturbing Scott Pelley Interview. (I trust Sundance and I believe this to be true)
June 8, 2026 | Sundance |
I have spent a lot of time around people. Out of a general sense of curiosity, I watched the Scott Pelley interview with NYT journalist Lulu Garcia-Navarro,who, by professional obligation and sense of career enhancement, stepped into the role of codependent enabler in order to advance a professional narrative that is very disturbing to witness.
In this short video segment below, less than a minute long, what we see is a glimpse into the world of deeply disturbed and mentally unstable people; very likely narcissists, with intensely overstated internal senses ofgrandiosity and self-importance.
https://youtu.be/hu9MTRhmOBs
That sense of identity is certainly why these trait carriers need to cloister together in groups, tribal media, in order to receive the affirmation needed to retain their worldview without challenge. These are deeply intolerant, andemotionally unstable people.
What you see below is not emotionally mature or mentally stable behavior. What iswitnessed in this video is a psychological pathologyand a codependent enabler of that pathology, under the mistaken premise of sensitivity.
This is the opposite of intellectual. This is a disturbed child in an adult physiology. It is alarming to witness outside a clinical or institutional setting. WATCH:
♦Take it or leave it advice. If you ever encounter this personality trait in a person or group, professionally or personally, I would strongly advise exiting the proximity as quickly and carefully as possible.
Find a way to get away. Do not engage. Do not attempt to talk, discuss, frame counterpoints, debate or engage this mindset with any challenge.Just politely disappear in the least controversial way possible.
There’s no benefit to engaging with unstable people—protect your own peace by avoiding contact. This applies both online and in person. In either case, politely excuse yourself or leave safely.
Be cautious while doing so; it might feel like you’re holding your breath until you’re away, but the main goal is creating distance.Excuse yourself however necessary and find a safe way to leave quietlyand without drawing attention but do so with urgency.
The full interview is below. I caution anyone whomight be tempted to watch this interview, there is a particular horror in knowing there are people carrying these traits in positions of influence. Jim Jones was less to fear.
It is best to leave management of this psychology to the experts in the field.
There are a lot of people like this in Washington DC, in various stages of this mindset, particularly in the White House correspondents’ media pool.

Having navigated a life of specific control,Scott Pelley represents the apex level of this psychological disorder. When left unchecked for this long, there is no recovery possible. Mr. Pelley will never be wrong in anything, ever.
From the position of his shoes in the closet, to the fold of his towels and the shape of his eggs in the morning, to the acceptable sounds he will tolerate walking through a park; everything is viewed through the prism of self.
Behind that self is a deeply disturbed loathing.
Keep distance. Preserve your peace.

‘Malicious, False, Juvenile’: Right-Wing Activist Unleashes on Kash Patel as Feud Over Trump Assassination Attempt Heats UpIsaac Schorr Jun 8th, 2026
Tom Fitton, president of the right-wing nonprofit Judicial Watch, unleashed on FBI director Kash Patel astheir feud over the July 2024 attempt on President Donald Trump’s life in Butler, Pennsylvania heats up.
It all started on Sunday when Fittonclaimed that FBI records showed that Trump’s would-be assassin, Thomas Crooks, “emailed local law enforcement before” firing on Trump.
“For whatever reason, FBI is slow rolling the release of records about Butler,” added Fitton in a since-deleted post.
The FBI’s Rapid Response account on X addressed the claim with fire and fury.
“This is a CLICK BAIT LIE by @JudicialWatch which is now nothing more than the fake news media! The unredacted documents are interviews of Thomas Crooks’ by COLLEGE INSTRUCTORS, NOT cops, wherein those instructors reference to having emailed Thomas Crooks about COURSE WORK. They make NO references to contact between Thomas Crooks and ANY police department,” read its post on the matter. “Maybe if you spent more time on Facts instead of clicks you wouldn’t be a laughing stock.”
Patel himself promoted the post with the caption, “Facts over click bait,”causing Fitton to erupt in reply.
“That @FBIDirectorKash would promote this malicious, false and juvenile FBI post is disturbing.
@JudicialWatchfairly interpreted heavily redacted documents produced by the FBI and DOJ after nearly two years of waiting and litigating. To call me and @JudicialWatch liars for doing so —based on secret material which you have withheld from us and the court — is beneath contempt,” declared Fitton on Sunday evening. “If you have unredacted documents to share with us in this lawsuit, we will happily review and update our analysis.
In the meantime, as government officials, you have a responsibility to apologize to me, @JudicialWatch and our supporters…and to delete your tweets. And immediately release the other 75,000 pages on the Butler assassination that the FBI is still hiding.”
On Monday afternoon, Fitton appeared to admit that his organization had gotten it wrong, but continued attacking Patel.
The FBI’s dangerous smears and unlawful secrecy aside, @JudicialWatch just updated its press release on the Butler records after further review of information the FBI had hidden,” he wrote.
“==Why is @FBIDirectorKash’s FBI attacking me and Judicial Watch instead of following
@RealDonaldTrump’s standard of maximum transparency — especially on the assassination attempt on Biden’s watch that nearly killed him?”==
Fitton has long been critical of Patel, declaring that the FBI and DOJ had lost “the confidence of the American people” last year amid widespread uproar over the Jeffrey Epstein case.

Why to hell are the FBI and Judicial Watch holding an argument publicly? It sounds extremely unprofessional. Both should know better.
Willie Brown Throws His Ex Under the Bus, Predicts Gavin Newsom Would Beat ‘Recent Loser’ Kamala Harris in 2028 Showdown
Isaac Schorr
Jun 8th, 2026, 2:16 pm
Willie Brown, the former mayor of San Francisco, threw his ex-girlfriend Kamala Harris under the bus while discussing a prospective Democratic presidential primary showdown between Harris and California Governor Gavin Newsom (D).
In an interview with ABC News’ Juhi Doshi, Brown said thatNewsom would be the more “viable” candidate “because he would not be the most recent loser.”
“When you embrace somebody for the job, you really want to embrace a winner, andNewsom would be what you would have to say at the moment is a winner,” said Brown, whoprofessed to be “surprised” Harris had not run to succeed Newsom.
“I would have advised her to be elected governor, so that she would be in the same identical position, if not better than for electability nationally than Newsom. …. If she was in the category of being on January 8, 2027, the governor of California, the dialogue would be about her candidacy, not about anybody else’s,” he continued.
Brown said the opposite during an interview with CNN’s Elex Michaelson last year, though.
“She may not want to run for governor of the state of California. That may not be where she should be going. I think it’s going to be difficult for her to win that job,” argued Brown at the time.
“He [Brown]talked about her [Harris’s] strengths in the legal world, but not as an executive, which to me was pretty stunning because this is a guy who knows her very well. He’s a legend in Democratic politics, right? He’s been a mentor to Kamala. And he actually cares about the future of California authentically, and he in effect said she should try something different,” noted Michaelson.
Democratic strategist Garry South told The Wall Street Journal last week that Newsom and Harris have “been kind of like two cats, circling each other in an alley for years, politically speaking” for a piece about the possibility of them running against each other.
The pair have already traded blows with one another over Newsom’s reaction to Harris’s ascension to the top of the Democratic ticket in 2024.

Neither will ever ascend to the Presidentcy! They are both retarded.
How a misreading of data fueled false claims about L.A. mayoral vote count
June 7, 2016 (LA Times covering up for cheating as usual)
Since election night in California, a single theory of election fraud has taken root like no other among online conspiracy theorists, bot accounts, conservative influencers and people close to President Trump. It proved to be a simple misreading of the voting data.
Late on election night, an update of vote counts in the Los Angeles mayor’s race appeared on election results pages of various media outlets including the Los Angeles Times. It showed leading Democrats Mayor Karen Bass and Councilmember Nithya Raman receiving tens of thousands of new votes, and leading Republican former reality TV star Spencer Pratt receiving no new votes.
Some observers of the vote tally immediately took screenshots, with some shouting fraud. Others ran statistical analyses that showed it would be impossible for a candidate such as Pratt — running second in the race — to receive zero votes in such a large batch of ballots.
In fact, the update that showed zero Pratt votes was followed one minute later by another update that showed tens of thousands of votes for Pratt, and none for Bass or Raman.
There was no batch of votes that included zero votes for any candidate, as Los Angeles County’s own data show plainly.
But the claim fit into the broader, false narrative being pushed relentlessly by Trump and other Republicans in recent days, that California Democrats were cheating.
Voting data pushed out by the Associated Press came as two separate updates one minute apart, with Bass’ and Raman’s votes in the first and Pratt’s in the second.
“The AP vote count receives updates as provided by election officials and adds them to our vote count. What happened in this case is that there was a lag in an automated update such that some candidates’ votes were added in one update and the other candidates followed about a minute later,” the Associated Press said in a statement to The Times.
“Specifically, an electronic update from the Los Angeles County website pulled in votes for only one group of candidates, including Karen Bass and Nithya Raman. Exactly one minute later, the electronic update picked up the votes for another group of candidates including Spencer Pratt. Taken together, the updates included 21,870 votes for Pratt, 12,850 votes for Bass and 9,521 votes for Raman, along with votes for other candidates.”
The Times’ election results page relies on the AP’s data feed, and checks for updates once a minute.
According to a Times review of election night results data, The Times pulled data from the AP’s feed at approximately 8:35 p.m. that included 0 new votes for Pratt and eight other candidates. When The Times’ system next checked for new numbers a minute later, there was an update with votes for Pratt but no new votes for Raman, Bass and others.
Michael Sanchez, a spokesperson for Dean Logan, head of the L.A. County registrar-recorder/county clerk’s office, said he could not speak for how news outlets report county data, but that he could confirm there were no batches of votes that included zero votes for Pratt.
“It is false,” he said of that narrative. “In every single result update that we released on election night and since election night, he has received votes,” Sanchez said.
Justin Grimmer, a political science professor at Stanford University and senior fellow at the Hoover Institution who researches and evaluates claims of election fraud, conducted his own data analysis of the vote updates, and came to the same conclusion.
He said there was an initial update with no Pratt votes, but a second one 41 seconds later with no votes for Bass or Raman — leading him to believe the single batch of ballots was just reported in two back-to-back updates rather than one.
“Because they came so close together, it looks like it was just a sequence of updates,” he said.
Grimmer said news outlets are “thinking about speed” and the best way to get people the most accurate information as quickly as possible, but “haven’t quite adjusted to being in this world where there’s this group of people who monitor these data feeds as if they are official government reports.”
“It leads to these horrible tweets about there being evidence of fraud,” he said.
Grimmer said he operates under the “mantra” that such fraud claims can’t be dismissed “by mere assertion” that the fraud didn’t happen, but must be looked into — which is why he dived into the data in the first place. This claim, he said, was similar to false assertions about odd-seeming vote tallies that were made during and after the 2020 election of Joe Biden over Trump, so he was familiar with how to look into the data.
(Doesn’t matter Bass and Raman’s votes were rigged and so were his.)

Victor Davis Hanson: California Never Had Ballot Integrity in the First Place
Victor Davis Hanson and co-host Sami Winc cover the House hearing on the Delaney Hall ICE detention center in Newark, New Jersey then turn toCalifornia primary returns and claims of weak ballot integrity, weighing prospects for Spencer Pratt and Steve Hilton.
They discuss New Jersey’s Adam Hamawy and Michigan’s Abdul El-Sayed, arguing mass migration, enclave politics, and anti-Israel sentiment are reshaping U.S. politics, including in California leadership, Hollywood, universities, and city councils.
Hanson revisits the UK Henry Nowak case, citing body-cam details, alleged cover-up behavior by the Digwa family, and what he calls “unequal enforcement” under DEI.
The episode also addresses Paul Krugman’s rhetoric about purging Trump supporters, CBS/60 Minutes turmoil involving Scott Pelley, a Virginia case allowing a male sex offender into girls’ locker rooms due to self-declared transgender status, Jill Biden’s memoir tour, and brief notes on nicotine/COVID and Ebola concerns.
