Bahrain said it was targeted by "a number" of Iranian drones on Saturday, accusing Tehran of "undermining peace efforts" in the region. In a statement, the country's foreign ministry said it expressed "Bahrain’s condemnation in the strongest terms of the targeting of its territory at dawn today," adding that the attacks were a "blatant threat to the security of citizens and residents".

US Central Command announced that American aircraft had hit Iranian missile and drone storage locations as well as coastal radar sites in response to Iran striking the M/V Ever Lovely ship with a one-way attack drone as it navigated the Strait of Hormuz.

"The Singapore-flagged cargo ship was exiting the Strait of Hormuz along the Omani coast at the time of Iran’s attack," CENTCOM said, adding that Iranian forces had "clearly violated" the ceasefire agreement.

But it remains that Iran is now firing warning shots at ships that haven't cleared permits to transit the Strait of Hormuz under Iran's own protocol, which highlights that deep divisions remain over each side's interpretation of the terms. The latest via Reuters:

Ukraine Closes Week Of Record Drone Attacks On Russia By Hitting Important Weapons Plant

Ukraine announced Saturday that it used its Flamingo cruise missiles overnight to strike Russia's Titan-Barrikady weapons plant, which reportedly manufactures parts for its powerful Oreshnik missile.

The military plant is in Volgograd, formerly Stalingrad, which is a major industrial city in southwest Russia. Writing on X, President Zelensky described it as a "major industrial complex" where Russia "produces artillery systems and specialized military equipment, including components for missile launch systems."

"Every Russian defense facility involved in the war against Ukraine is a legitimate target for our long-range strikes," he wrote.

The Associated Press reports, "Volgograd Gov. Andrei Bocharov confirmed an attack on a business in the region’s Krasnooktyabrsky district, saying 10 people had been wounded and taken to a hospital. He said production facilities at the site were damaged but did not identify the company."

Additionally, "Ukraine's state security service said Saturday morning that Ukrainian forces also struck an oil pumping facility in Russia’s Vladimir region that supplies fuel to Moscow, for the second time this month."

But on the other side of the border, Ukrainian media reports that Russia was also busy with now nightly airstrikes:

Russian forces targeted production facilities belonging to the Naftogaz Group, Ukraine's largest national oil and gas company, in the Poltava and Kharkiv regions.

The barrage of attacks included 129 drones, of which 113 were destroyed or jammed by Ukrainian forces, Ukrainian media reported.

The Russian overnight attacks on Ukraine killed two people and injuring more than 20, according to state officials.

At a moment much of the globe's attention remains fixated on Iran and the fate of energy shipping through the largely blocked Strait of Hormuz, the Ukraine war is rapidly escalating.

Hezbollah Supporters Block Roads, Encircle Govt Buildings In Beirut Over Israel Deal: 'They Sold Us Out'

Mass protests broke out in Beirut on Friday into Saturday, with supporters of Hezbollah voicing their outrage at the Lebanese government having just signed a 'trilateral peace framework' with Israel and the United States, despite the IDF occupation of southern territory and sporadic Israeli bombings persisting.

Hundreds of motorcycle-riding supporters were also seen circling streets through central Beirut, near the parliament building and along airport road. In some cases protesters blocked roads near sensitive government buildings, and were seen burning tires. The national army has set up checkpoints, seeking to return order, but in some cases didn't immediately move to disperse the protests.

"We certainly condemn and denounce this shameful agreement," a 30-year old protesters from Blida, a town in southern Lebanon that Israel has occupied for months, told the NY Times. According to more:

One criticism of the preliminary deal is that the timeline for Israel’s withdrawal is not fixed, instead being based on how quickly Hezbollah can be disarmed. "The enemy is being granted freedom of movement and the ability to make whatever decisions it wants in the south," Mr. Kassem said.

Washington has long been seeking to push Hezbollah's influence out of national politics, and to ultimately see the Iran-backed group disarmed and its power neutered.

The protester's have in turn exclaimed:

"They sold us out!"

Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem has meanwhile in new denunciatory words on Saturday charged that Lebanon's government has given legitimacy to Israel's "occupation for many years to come" by signing the deal.

"This could even lead to the annexation of these lands to the Zionist entity," Qassem said. "We say to the Lebanese authorities: It is time for you to retract your sins that are destroying Lebanon."

The Hezbollah Secretary-General vowed to remain "ready to cooperate and stand together for the sovereignty of Lebanon, the liberation of its land, the expulsion of the Israeli occupier."

He also said that the US deal links Israel's withdrawal to Hezbollah's disarmament throughout Lebanon, which "is an extremely dangerous proposition that crosses all red lines and makes Lebanon a pawn in the hands of the Israeli enemy."

Ukrainian media is touting a new Zelensky plan to ramp up the pressure on Russia over the next 40 days, aimed at "pressuring Russia to end its war".

He has ordered Ukraine's State Security Service (SBU) to launch a new 40-day operation, which also includes "plan for long-range sanctions, medium-range sanctions, and the results achieved by the SBU," Zelensky said on X. He's further calling it an "influence operation."

"For several months in a row, the SBU has demonstrated the highest performance in defending Ukraine’s positions on the front lines through the use of various types of drones," Zelensky said on Thursday evening. According to more of the statement:

Teen Psychosis Spike Tied to Illegal Spice-Laced Vapes Sold to Kids.

A significant rise in teenage psychosis is being linked to vapes containing spice, a synthetic that mimics that effects of cannabis, prompting calls for further research and stricter enforcement in schools.

Spice-laced vapes have been linked to a spike in psychosis in teenagers, according to teachers and experts in the United Kingdom.

Spice is a synthetic drug designed to mimic the effects of cannabis. The drug is used in vapes marketed to teenagers, often without their knowledge. While selling spice-laced vapes is illegal in Britain, carrying a sentence of up to 14 years of prison, research from the University of Bath indicates that up to 25 percent of vapes confiscated from schools contain spice. “In the last couple of years we’ve seen vaping take off so much, cigarettes are no longer an issue… We have had cases with students giving each other vapes where they don’t know what is in them but we suspect it has been spice,” said Lisa McCall, Headmistress at Wales High School in Rotherham, England. Despite laws against spiced-laced vapes, spice itself is unregulated. It can cause severe physical and psychological harm, especially to the developing brains of children, potentially causing early-onset psychosis, and worsening mental health and educational outcomes. In an interview, Dr. Hilary Reed, a consultant psychiatrist with the National Health Service (NHS), who typically sees one or two cases of teen psychosis annually, noted a rise to 10 cases throughout last year.

“It does appear that there’s an association between vapes containing spice and psychotic illness… We can’t definitely say this is causative but the evidence does suggest these vapes are a huge issue that definitely needs more research, because my concern here is are we seeing the beginning of what could be a nationwide increase in psychosis among young people,” said Dr. Reed.

Back in April, a 16-year-old student at Thomas Stone High School in Maryland was hospitalized after using a vape laced with THC, the main psychoactive compound in cannabis. The vape was obtained from another student.

Trump Social Media Advisor Confronts Tucker Over Epstein, Israel, Iran

Top Trump social media strategist Alex Bruesewitz appeared on “The Tucker Carlson Show” on Friday to push back on criticisms Trump has faced over his handling of the Epstein files, his relationship with Israel, and the war with Iran.

Bruesewitz later wrote on X that critics had asked why he criticized pro-war commentator Mark Levin on social media but hadn’t called out Daily Caller co-founder Tucker Carlson. “The answer is simple. I know Tucker personally, so I chose to confront him directly, face to face. And I did,” Bruesewitz wrote.

“Here’s what I told him: It’s flat-out wrong to claim Trump covered up for Epstein … It’s a dishonest smear to claim that Trump is a slave to Israel. Trump’s position on Iran has remained consistent from day one: Iran should never have a nuclear weapon,” he continued.

Over the course of the interview, the two discussed all three topics, with Bruesewitz consistently defending a president with whom Carlson has publicly feuded, saying in April that he’s “tormented” by his past support for Trump.

Bruesewitz characterized the conflict with Iran as “a 90-day blip” that resulted in minimal casualties and did not lead to the ground war critics warned might ensue.

Carlson countered that the case for war — preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons — rested on Israeli intelligence rather than American findings and that the intelligence turned out to be false.

Bruesewitz later argued that coordinated and possibly foreign-funded campaigns were driving online pressure to extend the conflict.

As an example, he cited a foreign agent contract held by former Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale through his firm Clock Tower X, a deal Bruesewitz claimed was worth $46 million.

Public records show a smaller verified total. Parscale’s firm signed a $6 million services agreement with Havas Media Network in August 2025 and has since received $15 million from the company on behalf of the Israeli state, according to the Daily Caller News Foundation. The same operation has been used to attack Carlson himself through shell websites, the outlet reported.

Bruesewitz also told Carlson that in June 2025, an unnamed friend had reached out to him about an unnamed Israeli foundation that wanted to hire him to push anti-Iran messaging on social media.

On the subject of Epstein, Bruesewitz argued that Trump deserves credit for the files reaching the public and rejected any suggestion of a cover-up. He also characterized outgoing Rep. Thomas Massie, who attacked Trump over the Epstein files and then lost to a Trump-endorsed primary challenger, as an opportunist who never mentioned the files during the Biden administration. Carlson pressed for more accountability, naming LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman as someone whose ties with Epstein should be investigated.

The two also discussed the SAVE America Act, the assassination of Charlie Kirk, and Florida’s GOP gubernatorial primary contest between James Fishback — who Bruesewitz called “not an honest person” — and Rep. Byron Donalds.

Despite some clashes, the tone of the conversation remained amiable and Bruesewitz and Carlson agreed on the importance of keeping foreign money out of American political media.

Jewish leaders rush to defense of Hakeem Jeffries as emboldened DSA puts him in crosshairs

New York Jewish Week via JTA — As they celebrated a series of resounding victories for their congressional and state legislative candidates in primaries across New York City on Tuesday night, attendees at democratic socialist Claire Valdez’s victory party turned their attention at one point to ousting US House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, chanting, “You’re next!” when his face appeared on TV screens.

Some local Jewish leaders are starting to push back. They have jumped to the defense of Jeffries, a moderate pro-Israel stalwart who represents the 8th Congressional District in Brooklyn.

“Just hours after the election, they’re publicly threatening the highest ranking black Democratic official in America,” David Greenfield, CEO of the Met Council, a Jewish charity in New York, wrote on social media on Wednesday.

Responding to the “You’re next!” chants, Greenfield warned that the “next DSA move is not to make peace, but rather go to war with liberal Dems.”

Mark Treyger, CEO of the Jewish Community Relations Council, praised Jeffries on social media on Wednesday, defending him as “a dedicated public servant defined by honesty, hard work, honor and an unwavering commitment to delivering for the people he represents.”

Treyger predicted Jeffries would outlast the wave of left-wing insurgents. “Political winds come and go. Character endures,” he wrote.

But the winds right now seem to be at the backs of the Democratic Socialists of America, the left-wing political organization that promotes taxing the wealthy, expanding publicly funded social benefits and has placed increasing emphasis on pro-Palestinian advocacy and anti-Zionism. Nine of 10 candidates backed by New York City’s DSA chapter won their primaries Tuesday night.

Of all the DSA’s triumphal moments, however, the most widely circulated clip from the party was not a speech, nor one of many moments of celebration, but the call to oust Jeffries.

“You’re next! You’re next!” attendees chanted after Jeffries appeared on TVs at the 99 Scott Studio event space, where chants of “DSA!” and “Free Palestine!” also broke out.

Billionaire Leon Black walks out of Epstein investigation hearing

Billionaire investor Leon Black walked out of a closed-door hearing with the congressional committee investigating late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein after refusing to answer questions on non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), say lawmakers.

Black, whose name comes up in the Epstein files released by the justice department, testified voluntarily. But he left after he was asked about NDAs he may have signed, the panel chairman said.

The House of Representatives Oversight Committee issued two subpoenas for Black to share NDAs and give an on-camera deposition under oath.

Black left Apollo Global Management, which he co-founded, in 2021 amid scrutiny over his Epstein ties. He denies wrongdoing.

"We want to know, was Jeffrey Epstein involved in the NDAs?" the committee's Republican chairman, James Comer, said on Friday.

"Was he involved in writing? Was he involved in awarding funds to the women for the NDAs? What was the reason for the NDA? We want to know everything about the NDAs."

Nondisclosure agreements, commonly called NDAs, are contracts where both parties agree to keep information confidential, often as part of a settlement or employment agreement.

Black's attorneys confirmed to the BBC he walked out after his legal team "made their final comments".

The private equity tycoon hired Epstein as a wealth management adviser and allegedly spoke to him about personal matters, including extramarital affairs from which NDAs resulted, according to the BBC's media partner CBS News.

During his brief appearance on Friday, Black reportedly told the committee he had paid Epstein $158m (£120m) for legitimate purposes over the course of their years-long association.

That amount was the subject of a Senate investigation into whether Black had intentionally overpaid Epstein, cloaking money paid for personal reasons in the guise of financial services.

Black's attorneys have pointed out that an internal investigation at Apollo by the Dechert law firm concluded the fees that Black paid to Epstein were for legitimate tax advice.

Like many others who have spoken to the committee as it investigates Epstein's connections to the wealthy and powerful, Black said the disgraced financier had deceived him.

"I knew Jekyll. I didn't know Hyde," he said in his opening statement, a copy of which his lawyer shared with the BBC.

Black continued: "With the benefit of hindsight, I now know, as does the world, that Epstein was engaged in horrific, sordid activities. I feel terrible for Epstein's victims.

"I want to state clearly that I did not know about this nefarious activity until Epstein was charged with trafficking in July 2019."

Black denied ever abusing a woman, or being with an underage woman, or sex trafficking, or paying Epstein for access to women, or being blackmailed by him.

Black's attorney, Susan Estrich, called the subpoenas "a planned political stunt".

"Mr Epstein had no involvement with any NDAs, whether they exist or not," she said, adding that the committee "did not ask a single question about the legitimate payments to Epstein for professional services on tax and estate matters".

Black had a six-year affair with a former Russian model, Guzel Ganieva, which ended in allegations of abuse, according to court records.

Massie moves to strike $3.3B in Israel military aid from the budget

The House Rules Committee has advanced an amendment by Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) to strip $3.3 billion in funding for the Israel Defense Forces from the federal budget.

That means that every member of the House will have to vote on the proposal. Constituents will have the opportunity to see if their member will vote to end U.S. funding for Israel, or continue it.

The funds targeted would come out of the National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs Appropriations Act (NSRP), the bill that funds the State Department, international development assistance, and global organizations.

Although the amendment is unlikely to pass, it will require members of Congress to decide if they want to be seen as advocating for a continuation of the U.S.-Israel relationship, or a new approach. As Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) tweeted, only 16% of Americans support unconditional aid to Israel.

For members on the right, they will have to explain to their constituents why they are voting to continue sending billions of taxpayer dollars to a foreign country that just dragged the U.S. into an unnecessary war with Iran, spiking gas prices for ordinary Americans before ending in military defeat. Even 51% of Republicans, in addition to three-quarters of Democrats, now say that Israel exerts too much sway over U.S. foreign policy. For Republicans who voted for an “America First” foreign policy, the blank check to Israel has become harder to defend.

For members on the left, they will have to justify why the U.S. continues to enable Israel’s horrifying violence against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, its occupation of Lebanon and Syria, and its attacks on seven countries over the past year, including Qatar, a major non-NATO U.S. ally. By providing Israel with billions in aid no matter how destabilizing its behavior, no matter how many international bodies and organizations accuse it of genocide and atrocities, Washington encourages Israel to behave even more aggressively.

Whereas if a significant portion of members vote in favor of the Massie amendment, even if it does not pass, this could send an important signal to Israel that it might want to rethink its bellicosity towards the rest of the region. This could be especially useful in an election year, as Israelis head to the polls to select a new leader, likely not Benjamin Netanyahu. In the absence of any such messaging from Washington, Israelis will continue their current trajectory: futilely trying to create security through violence.

Yet instead of sending that signal to Israel, many in Congress will likely stick to their AIPAC provided talking points.

For example, AIPAC asserts that the U.S. and Israel share security interests in the Middle East. This point is harder to make in the midst of the Trump administration’s efforts to avoid a return to open conflict with Iran by implementing the MOU, while the Israeli Defense Minister stated that Israel will continue to occupy and attack Lebanon, a clear attempt to reignite the war.

Another talking point asserts that the U.S.-Israel relationship is good for American jobs. However even according to the American Jewish Committee, the relationship only directly enables 20,000 jobs, or .012% of the U.S. workforce.

Moreover, supporters like to argue that without $3.3 billion from Washington, Israel would be defenseless. Yet Israel recently overtook the U.K. to become the seventh biggest exporter of arms and weaponry. Israel has broken its own record for arms exports every year for the past five years, reaching $19.2 billion in sales in 2025. Clearly, Israel has more than enough spare defense capacity.

Katz Says US Hasn't Asked Israel To Withdraw From Lebanon - Wouldn't Do It Anyway

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said on Wednesday that the US hasn't asked Israel to withdraw its troops from southern Lebanon despite Iran maintaining that a withdrawal is necessary to implement the US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding, which calls for an end to Israel's war.

"We have announced that in any case we are not withdrawing and, as of this moment – and this is a diplomatic achievement – there is no American demand for Israel to withdraw from Lebanon," Katz said.

The Israeli minister vowed that Israel would stay in Lebanon "even if there is an American demand" and that Lebanese civilians would not be able to return to the IDF-occupied areas.

"There will be no civilians and no terrorists. Why? Because what happened in the past in security zones where there was also a civilian population was that there were explosives and attacks against soldiers, and therefore, we do not allow that," Katz said, according to Haaretz.

"Soldiers in, residents out. The infrastructure is destroyed, the houses are dangerous and ruined. We are not withdrawing," he added.

Also on Wednesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he wouldn’t withdraw from Lebanon as long as he remains in power, which could be just a few more months, as Israel is set to hold elections in October, or potentially even earlier.

"As long as I am prime minister, we will maintain the security zone in southern Lebanon," Netanyahu said. "We will be the first in the world to solve the explosive drones problem."

While both President Trump and Vice President Vance have criticized some of Israel’s conduct in Lebanon, neither has publicly called for an Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon, and there’s no sign the administration is considering cutting off military aid to either pressure Israel to end the war or leave Israel on its own.

While Israeli attacks in Lebanon have subsided since the weekend, they haven’t stopped, and at least three people were killed by IDF strikes on Wednesday.

Al-Jadeed obtained the complete Trilateral Framework signed in Washington, the document no government released in public.

The clauses, in plain language:

1) DISARM FIRST (Art. 4): Lebanon commits to the "complete and verified disarmament" of every non-state armed group on its soil, Hezbollah unnamed but unmistakable, before anything is given back.

2) WITHDRAWAL IS THE REWARD (Art. 2, 5): The IDF only "progressively redeploys" out of two pilot zones, governed by a Security Annex that DOESN'T EVEN EXIST YET, and Israel's "no territorial ambitions" pledge is conditioned entirely on a disarmament IT ALONE gets to certify as complete.

3) SOVEREIGNTY ON PAPER (Art. 6): Lebanon holds the "exclusive sovereign authority" over war and peace, a clause built to outlaw the resistance by name without naming it.

4) AID ON A LEASH (Art. 9, 11): U.S. money to the Lebanese army is "strictly conditioned on verifiable milestones" and oversight. Beirut also pledges to choke off all funds to non-state groups, then keep reconstruction money out of their hands entirely.

5) RECONSTRUCTION, SEPARATELY GATED (Art. 10): Washington will "rally partners" to rebuild Lebanon, but on a SEPARATE track from the conditioned aid, leverage held in reserve.

6) THE TELL (Art. 14): The whole framework closes with both governments expressing "deep appreciation for the vision and leadership of President Donald J. Trump."
