As long as they're not currently incarcerated or on parole, they in fact have the right to posses a firearm according to the second amendment, making that law illegal. In fact when that law was first made, there were only 3 felony laws on the books. It was still wrong, but now there are thousands of felony laws on the books, including SPEEDING at double the posted speed limit or more. Yes, that means you speed, and you lose your God-given right to defend yourself and your family.

 

The second amendment doesn't GRANT rights to citizens, it protects citizens from the GOVERNMENT taking away those rights.
