Donny Deutsch, on MSNOW, just gave us an inside sneak peek at establishment Democrats’ panic about the rise of extremist DSA candidates:

"Well, Democrats have gone off the rails… Democrats right now are focused on two things:"

• "Antisemitism."

• "Socialism."

"This is ridiculous… let's abolish ICE, let's abolish prisons, let's abolish everything, let's abolish the police. It's INSANE."

"Republicans are going to TAR them with this… every Republican strategist is salivating on what these people have said in the past, and they're going to wallpaper it with it."

"Democrats are going down a bad path. They're electing these Democratic socialists. It's a disaster. No matter what you think of it, wherever your politics are, it's bad strategy."

Donny Deutsch Bluntly Tells MS NOW: ‘Democrats Have Gone Off the Rails’

Zoe EngelsJul 2nd, 2026, 2:58 pm

Guest Donny Deutsch bluntly told MS NOW’s Stephanie Ruhle that “Democrats have gone off the rails” with their far-left focus on Anti-Semitism and socialism.

Ruhle claimed that “though voters are unhappy with Trump, they’re still leaning Republican” and asked the ad man and political commentator, “Do you think, if the economy doesn’t improve by November, it can change? Do Democrats need to figure out their messaging when it comes to the economy? Because for whatever reason,Republicans still seem to have this stronghold that, ‘We’re good for business.'

According to results from a Pew Research Center survey in May, most Americans view both parties negatively, with 58 percent of adults citing an unfavorable view of the Republican Party and 59 percent citing an unfavorable view of the Democratic party.

Deutsch didn’t miss a beat in offering up a response as he suggested Democrats are not prioritizing the economy.

Well, Democrats have gone off the rails,” he said. “They’re not even focused — what matters to people is affordability, and Democrats right now are focused on two things:They’re focused on Anti-Semitism and Socialism”.

“Not all Democrats,” Ruhle offered up clarification with which Deutsch agreed.

“Not all, but that’s where the energy in the party is,” Deutsch said. “When you look at the two candidates that got elected in the last week, one of them talks about that … that firebombing in Colorado was not Anti-Semitic. I mean, would not acknowledge that when there was a firebombing of people holding a vigil for hostages by Hamas. Another candidate in New York, has been well-documented, was at a October 8th rally, a pro-Hamas, pro-Palestinian rally.”

He was likely referring to 29-year-old Democratic Socialist Melat Kiros and Mamdani-backed Darializa Avila Chevalier.

Deutsch continued:

This is ridiculous. And they’re both running on anti-American, socialistic, let’s blow up — let’s abolish ICE, let’s abolish prisons, let’s abolish everything, let’s abolish the police. It’s insane. And the Republicans are going to tar them with this. This is the problem. Even though they are a small sector of the party. This is, right now, every Republican strategist is salivating on what these people have said in the past, and they’re going to wallpaper with it,and the Democrats are going down a bad path. They’re electing these Democratic Socialists. It’s a disaster, no matter what you think of it, wherever your politics are, it’s bad strategy.

"He just threw it in front of me, and I immediately grabbed it," Brown said.

The man says he posted a photo of the jacket on Instagram, which caught the attention of Sotheby’s auction house.

"They said your jacket has been matched to the 1972 NBA Finals. I knew the NBA Finals jersey sold for $4.9 million. That’s the jersey he wore under my jacket," Brown said.

The jacket has since been authenticated. Sotheby’s says it is worth between $150,000 and $250,000.

History With Jacob

@HistoryWJacob

The Supreme Court has some wonderfully quirky traditions.

From only drinking wine when it's raining to a basketball court on the top floor:

When the justices meet in conference to decide cases, it’s just the nine of them. No clerks. No staff. No recordings. If someone knocks on the door, the most junior justice has to get up and answer it.The newest member of the highest court in the land is literally the doorman.

That same junior justice also takes notes during conference and serves on the cafeteria committee.

Before every conference and every oral argument, each justice shakes hands with the other eight. Thirty-six handshakes. Chief Justice Melville Fuller started the custom in the late 1800s to remind them that disagreement is about principle, not the person.

Lawyers arguing before the Court are still given white goose quill pens at their tables, just like two centuries ago. Win or lose, they get to keep them.

Then there’s the John Marshall story. His Court only drank wine at dinner when it was raining. Marshall would have someone check the weather, and if it was clear outside, he’d declare that in their vast jurisdiction it had to be raining somewhere. They drank anyway.

Oh…and there’s a basketball court on the top floor of the building. They call it the highest court in the land.

Jack Smith Says Trump DOJ Can’t Fulfill ‘Basic’ Expectations: ‘Not Effective At Doing Their Job Anymore

Stephanie Kaloi

The Justice Department is no longer able to perform “the basic things you need to do to represent the American people in court,” former Special Counsel Jack Smith told Nicolle Wallace Thursday.

There are “several layers” when considering the circumstances. “One of the problems today, besides the retribution prosecutions, is that the Justice Department can’t do its job right,” Smith began. “If you go to court and the judges don’t trust you, you can’t do the basic things that you need to do to represent the American people in court. And we have seen judges across the country say they can’t trust prosecutors anymore.”

That dynamic “has such a cascading effect” on cases, he continued.

“I can’t count how many opinions, but one opinion like that, in my career, would have been seismic,” Smith explained. “Trust that’s been built over generations has been lost in days, right? And that’s happening every day.”

Smith also insisted this change is apolitical. “Regardless of what you think politically, they’re just not effective at doing their job anymore. They’ve jettisoned expertise,” he continued. “So we have a situation where we’ve got rid of people who know how to protect our national security, and we think that that’s somehow not going to have an effect on our national security.”

An example is what happened to Brian Driscoll, who was fired by President Trump in August 2025.Driscoll refused to hand over a list of department agents who worked on cases related to the Capitol Insurrection in January 2021.

“I mean, he’s a folk hero in the FBI, if you were casting for a hero,” Smith said. “That’s what they look like, right? And just for your viewers, this is a guy—a career agent, mob investigator, SWAT team, hostage rescue, served overseas, Medal of Valor, bravery medals, all these things, and an expert in counterintelligence. They got rid of him because he stood up for agents who were being targeted improperly. You can’t tell me. You cannot tell me our country is as safe as it was when people like that are being let go and fired for no reason.”

Trump Pauses Softball Interview With CNBC’s Kernen to Tell Aide to Give Him Extra Time: ‘He’s Been My Friend’

Michael LucianoJul 2nd, 2026, 6:07 pm

President Donald Trump briefly derailed a sit-down with Joe Kernen, telling an aide off-camera to let the interview run long because the CNBC host has “been my friend for a long time.”

Kernen, who co-hosts Squawk Box, recorded an interview that aired during Thursday’s Fast Money. The CNBC talking head began the interview by complimenting the president on the new Air Force One, which was given to Trumpby the Qatari royal family. The president has said he will take the plane with him when he leaves office.

“Pretty nice plane,” Kernen told him.

Afterward, Trump noted that he and Kernen have known each other for some time, since before the president married First Lady Melania Trump:

TRUMP: You knew me a long time before I even thought of running. You knew me before I even thought about running for president.

KERNEN:I knew you before you were married to Melania, I think.

TRUMP: That’s right.

KERNEN: I was at the wedding.

Later on, when the president finished answering a question about AI,Kernen expressed concern about how much more time Trump had to converse:

KERNEN: We’re gonna try and do as much as we can.

TRUMP: You go ahead. You go ahead.

KERNEN: I hope that’s ok.

TRUMP [to aide]: If he needs a little more time, just relax.

AIDE: Yup.

TRUMP: I’m not Kamala. They give them four minutes and they start screaming at him.

KERNEN: That housing bill–

TRUMP: Don’t be nervous.

KERNEN: I’m only in the Oval Office with–

TRUMP: He’s been my friend for a long time and he’s a good man, too.

CNN Anchor Asks Abdul El-Sayed Three Times If ‘Israel Has a Right to Exist’

Alex GriffingJul 2nd, 2026, 6:02

=•CNN anchor Kasie Hunt asked progressive Michigan U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed on Thursday if he believes “Israel has a right to exist” – repeating the question multiple times as the Democrat refused to answer.==

Hunt asked El-Sayed to begin the discussion, “Obviously, AIPAC is a big part of this conversation because Israel has become a very central topic, especially inside the Democratic Party, but nationally as well. Do you believe Israel has a right to exist?”

El-Sayed, who is leading his race in many polls, replied, “So, Kasie, AIPAC has become a big issue in this election because AIPAC has already spent $30 million in this election — they’re by far the biggest spender in the race. Now, the question about a right to exist is interesting, because nobody’s ever asked me whether I believe Palestine has a right to exist. Every single president who’s served has said they believe in a two-state solution. Israel exists. The question is whether we want a politics where our money is sent over to Israel to fund genocide and apartheid instead of investing in our own kids.”

Hunt jumped in, “You say it exists, but does it have a right to?”

El-Sayed added, “I didn’t say that — I just said the question of Israel’s existence is not a question. I’m not going to play this gotcha game about whether or not it has a right to exist. The question, ultimately, is about whether we want a politics that dignifies equal rights.”

“You’re not going to play the gotcha, but you’re not going to say you think Israel has a right to exist?”Hunt pressed a third time.

“Well, my question — you know, Kasie, I think the question we all ought to ask is: does everybody have equal rights to peace, dignity, and self-determination? That includes Jews, Israelis, and Palestinians,” El-Sayed replied, adding:

And to me, the people who should answer what ultimate peace looks like there should be Jews, Israelis, and Palestinians. I want my tax dollars spent here in Michigan — to provide schools in Michigan, to build healthcare in Michigan, to invest in Michigan — rather than sent abroad to kill Palestinian people through genocide and apartheid. The question of whether Israel has a right to exist is actually quite secondary to whether it has a right to our tax dollars.

And people don’t ask that question in good faith. So if you want to ask me about the Palestinian right to exist, if you want to ask me what I want to do for kids in Michigan, I’m happy to answer those questions. But AIPAC and Israel have become questions that too many people have to answer, because our tax dollars keep getting spent over there rather than being spent here.

El-Sayed came under fire this week after he jabbed his primary opponent, Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI), saying AIPAC should teach her how to string two coherent sentences together.

Rahm Emanuel: There Are Candidates, Specifically in NYC, ‘Who Don’t Like America’

Ian Hanchett2 Jul 2026

On Wednesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Situation Room,” CNN Senior Political and Global Affairs Commentator, former U.S. Ambassador to Japan, former Obama Chief of Staff, and former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said that “there are candidates out there, specifically like in New York City, who don’t like America.” And “There are people in the Democratic Socialist Party who literally do not like America, think it is a bad country.”

In response to Democratic strategist James Carville mentioning a schism in the party, Emanuel said, “I just laid out my view about this whole program, which is you’ve got to flip red to blue, not blue to cobalt blue. And there is a difference, there are candidates out there, specifically like in New York City, who don’t like America. I happen to think being an American means you win the lottery ticket of life. There are challenges in America, that it’s not living up to its potential, as outlined here on the 250-year anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, where America falls short, but you always struggle for that better. There are people in the Democratic Socialist Party who literally do not like America, think it is a bad country. They don’t have any identity.”

Emanuel continued, “And that is not the Democratic Party that I’m a part of. That is not the Democratic Party that struggles to make sure that other people get a chance to be in the winner’s circle.”

Colorado Democrat Governor Fires Clemency Board Officials Who Broke Confidentiality Standards

Sean Moran2 Jul 2026

Gov. Jared Polis (D-CO) on Wednesday fired two members of his clemency boardafter they released confidential information about commuting recommendations to the public about Tina Peters, who was sentenced for her role in tampering with election equipment.

Hannah Seigel Proff and Azra Taslimi objected to Polis’s decision in May to release Peters from prison after President Donald Trump had called for him to commute her sentence.

Proff and Taslimi revealed that the board, which was appointed by Polis, had twice voted unanimously to reject Peters’s application for a shortened sentence. Polis overruled the board and decided to commute Peters’s sentence.

The clemency board typically operates in secret and does not disclose the pardon and commutation recommendations it makes to the governor.Proff and Taslimi felt compelled to break protocol and reveal the internal discussions surrounding her sentencing.

The governor then sent a letter tothe two saying they were being dismissed for violating the board’s confidentiality standards.

“You breached the required duty of confidentiality by publicly divulging board members’ votes,” Polis wrote to the two women.

Peters, a former county clerk in the more conservative-leaning western part of Colorado, was sentenced to nine years in prison after being convicted in 2024 as part of a plot to tamper with voting machines under her control in an effort to provide that the 2020 presidential election had been rigged against Trump.

The 47th president had spent months urging Polis to commute the sentence of Peters.

Taskunu said about Polis, “He’s saying the public doesn’t have the right to know his own advisory board told him no — twice. He’s not protecting a process. He’s protecting himself from scrutiny.”

Eric Maruyama, a spokesman for Polis, said that the two women’s decision tobreak the privacy protocol of the board “threatens the credibility of the board, colors future deliberations by the board, andbreaks clearly stated confidentiality policy.”

In May, the Colorado Democrat Party censured the Colorado governor for commuting the sentence of Peters. These people are really evil!
