Hellenic Air Force F-16 accident

The F-16 was a part of the 116th Combat Wing based in Araxos. Whilst training it suffered a mechanical issue and diverted to the nearest airport which was Zakynthos international airport where it seems to have made a gear up landing and then caught fire.
The Air Force announcement:
«On Thursday, July 9, 2026 at 1:45 p.m., an F-16 aircraft of the 335 Squadron of the 116th Fighter Wing, participating in a training flight, made an emergency landing at Zakynthos airport, due to a breakdown.
The Airman is in good health.
Causes of the event are being investigated»
