Just as the US nighttime strikes were significantly bigger than prior rounds in June, so has Iran's 'retaliation' been bigger - chiefly on Gulf states and American bases there.

In the overnight and Thursday daytime hours, Iranian ballistic missiles and drones have targeted Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and even faraway Jordan. The country is reporting that it has intercepted several missiles, which targeted Muwaffaq Salti Air Base - jointly operated by US and Jordanian forces. Oil prices have persisted above prewar levels on Thursday.

"Jordan has intercepted eight Iranian missiles in its airspace after sirens sounded across the country, according to the armed forces," reports Al Jazeera. "Falling shrapnel did not cause any casualties or material damage, it added."

Following the US bombing of the Islamic Republic for a second consecutive night, which came after Iranian forces sought to enforce its own shipping route and protocol on the Strait of Hormuz (which saw several international vessels attacked), Tehran has newly confirmed it in turn struck "US bases and strategic centers” in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar.

In particular the IRGC has claimed that two US bases in Kuwait and two base in Bahrain were attacked - and the Iranian elite force is threatening more to come. US Central Command (CENTCOM) says the rate of its strikes have grown to about 14 times the number of targets hit in the last late June flare-up in fighting.

“Every person who votes illegally that cancels your or my vote is one too many for me, and I think it should be for every citizen, because it’s a sacred right,” Dhillon told the Just the News, No Noise television show Wednesday night.

Dhillon's letters give states five days to explain how they will comply with federal voter eligibility laws and identify what steps they will take to maintain “clean voter lists" that remove noncitizens before Election Day.

“Any election officer, including the chief election officer of the state, who knowingly retains noncitizens on the state’s SVRL or facilitates noncitizens in receiving and casting ballots could be subject to criminal liability,” reads the letter sent to Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson.

The warning comes as the Trump administration makes a renewed push to get the Senate to pass the SAVE America Act, which requires proof of citizenship and photo ID to vote.

Dhillon said her office had listed criminal punishments written into federal election laws such as the Voting Rights Act, the Help America Vote Act, and the National Voter Registration Act.

In a video interview with The Defender, a former police detective involved in the investigations of roughly 250 sudden infant death syndrome, or SIDS, cases said coroners didn’t include vaccination history in their reports, even when police reports included the information. “Jennifer” and her husband were detectives in the police department of a major U.S. city with a population of over 300,000 from roughly 2003 to 2010.

A former police detective involved in the investigations of roughly 250 sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) cases claimed that roughly 50% occurred within 48 hours of a vaccination.

In a video interview today with The Defender, the detective, who gave only her first name, “Jennifer,” said she and her husband were detectives in the police department of a major U.S. city with a population of over 300,000 for a combined seven years, from roughly 2003 to 2010.

Jennifer said she is keeping her last name and city name undisclosed to protect her family. She said:

“The pharmaceutical industry does not want to be threatened by those sorts of secrets coming out. So, I’m a mother of many children, and their safety is my number one priority, my family’s safety. I’m a mama bear before I’m anything else.”

Jennifer said she hadn’t initially questioned the safety of vaccines. But that changed when she noticed a recurrent pattern among the police reports for SIDS cases in her unit.

Processed foods are those which have been altered from their original state. This includes washing, packaging, cooking, pasteurizing, heating or chopping.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), led by Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., released a Dietary Guideline for Americans for 2025 through 2030 which looked to encourage prioritizing “high-quality protein, healthy fats, fruits, vegetables and whole grains – and avoiding highly processed foods and refined carbohydrates,” according to a 2025 HHS press release.

Ultra-processed foods have “one or more ingredients that wouldn’t be found in a kitchen,” such as chemical-based preservatives, artificial flavors, or sweeteners like high fructose corn syrup, according to John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Ultra-processed foods also use processing techniques that often “leave the final products bearing almost no resemblance to the original ingredients.”

“Ultra-processed foods are driving our chronic disease epidemic,” Kennedy said in his department’s press release. “We must act boldly to eliminate the root causes of chronic illness and improve the health of our food supply. Defining ultra-processed foods with a clear, uniform standard will empower us even more to Make America Healthy Again.”

Food labeled “natural” has no regulated meaning and could include artificial ingredients, GMOs, and pesticides, according to Moms Across America, a nonprofit educating Americans on health.

Here are 10 processed foods to exercise caution around.

Twinkies

America’s classic packaged dessert is probably just as bad for you as you imagine. With a 65-day shelf life, Twinkies use synthetic chemicals and chemically altered products to replace butter, fat, and eggs, according to How Stuff Works. Alongside these chemicals, Twinkies have zero grams of fiber – which helps slow the digestion process and keeps blood sugar levels stable – but they do have 31 grams of added sugar per serving, according to Eat This, Not That.

Soft Drinks

Soft drinks have extremely high levels of sugar and no fiber or protein to slow that absorption. One 12-ounce can of Sprite has 38 grams of added sugar. Sugar-sweetened beverages can cause blood sugar spikes which lead to increased risk of diabetes, heart disease, and some cancers, Dr. Walter Willett, a professor of epidemiology and nutrition at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, told USA Today.

Ultra Processed Meats

The saturated fat found in some processed meats can lead to a “buildup of plaque in arteries around the body,” which can lead to heart issues, according to the Physicians Committee For Responsible Medicine. Some lunch meats, jerky and hotdogs have cancer-causing compounds in them. These compounds can damage the DNA in the cells which line the colon, “which can lead to the development of cancer cells and over time the growth of large tumors.”

The change in planes adds ammunition to questions about whether retrofitting the Qatar Boeing 747-8 had been rushed and not given the time needed to ensure sufficient security measures. Multiple crews respond to two-alarm fire at NASA Steam Plant

Multiple crews are responding after an overnight fire erupted at NASA Steam Plant in Hampton.

According to officials, crews were dispatched just before 1 a.m. for a fire in the debris pit.

When crews arrived, an officer indicated there was heavy fire inside the structure with flames showing above the roof. Additional resources were then requested.

The incident was marked as a Level 2 working incident and a second alarm was called. Due to the amount for fire and unknown stability of the structure, fire crews utilized a ladder tower to suppress the fire from the exterior.

Once an adjacent portion of the structure was deemed safe, crews were able to place suppression devices inside the building to attack the fire.

Officials say the bulk of the fire was marked knocked down at 2:24 a.m.

All workers inside the building were able to safely evacuate and no injuries have been reported by the workers or firefighters.

10 On Your Side arrived on scene just before 4 a.m. and observed multiple police vehicles blocking a portion of Wythe Creek Road. WAVY was later able to get a closer look of the damage that the fire caused.

“The roof of the steam plant was burnt through in some areas, and the cranes are very badly damaged.

Whether they were destroyed I don’t know that yet but they are very badly damaged,” said Mike Holtzclaw, Hampton’s Communications Cordinator. “It’s significant damage to the plant.”

Crews with Hampton Fire-Rescue provided additional photos the fire showing the aftermath of the fire inside the plant.

Fire crews and resources will remain on scene to continue applying water and foam to ensure that the fire is extinguished. Crews with Hampton’s Public Works Division have been requested for debris movement and removal.

Dominion Virginia Power, Hampton Police Division, and multiple fire agencies are assisting with this operation.

While the fire is being investigated, there is no estimate when the plant will reopen. Holtzclaw tells 10 On Your Side that while the plant is closed, residential garbage will be taken to the landfill.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on Thursday confirmed that they had arrested an illegal alien from Slovakia who allegedly registered to vote in New Jersey and cast a ballot in the 2022 federal elections.

Marian Charitun was detained on July 1 and charged July 2 with illegally voting in a federal election and making false statements while applying for U.S. citizenship.

“This alien from Slovakia illegally voted in American elections, and then lied about it when he tried to apply for citizenship,” acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said in a statement. “He now faces federal charges of illegally voting in a federal election and making false statements."

"Our message to aliens who vote in American elections is clear: we will find you, arrest you, and you will face the consequences, including criminal charges and deportation. Only Americans should be electing American leaders," she added.

Charitun faces a maximum of one year in prison on the illegal voting count and up to 10 years for the count of unlawful procurement of citizenship, if convicted.

Alien From Slovakia Charged with Illegally Voting in a Federal Election and Making False Statements while Applying for U.S. Citizenship

NEWARK, N.J. – A resident alien in New Jersey was arrested and charged with illegally voting in a federal election and making false statements while applying for United States citizenship, U.S. Attorney Robert Frazer announced today.

Marian Charitun, 62, of Middlesex County, was charged by criminal complaint with voting by an alien in a federal election, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 611; and procurement of citizenship or naturalization unlawfully, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1425(a). He had his initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael A. Hammer in Newark federal court.

According to documents filed in this case and statements made in court:

In order to register to vote and vote in federal elections, a person must be a United States citizen. Charitun was not a citizen of the United States when he registered to vote in New Jersey. On his voter registration form, however, Charitun falsely certified and attested that he was a United States citizen. After his application to register was approved, Charitun, still without United States citizenship, voted in the November 8, 2022 midterm election that was held in part for the purpose of electing a Member of the United States House of Representatives.

Then, after illegally voting in a federal election, Charitun applied to become a United States citizen by submitting an application for naturalization (an “N-400”). An N-400 requires the applicant to swear under penalty of perjury that the information provided in the application is complete, true, and correct. However, Charitun falsely claimed in his N-400 to have never registered to vote or to have voted in any federal elections.

If convicted, the count of voting by an alien in a federal election carries a maximum penalty of 1 year in prison. The count of unlawful procurement of citizenship or naturalization carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

U.S. Attorney Frazer credited special agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Stefanie Roddy; Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Acting Special Agent in Charge Spiros Karabinas; and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, with the investigation.

This case was brought under the United States Attorney’s Office’s Election Integrity Task Force, a coalition of federal law enforcement partners focused on preserving and protecting the integrity of elections conducted in the District of New Jersey.

The government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Benjamin D. Bleiberg of the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s Criminal Division.

The charges and allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Health checks and CubeSat hardware maintenance were the prime research objectives aboard the International Space Station on Wednesday.

The Expedition 74 crew members also stowed spacewalking gear, transferred cargo, and checked seats in a Soyuz spacecraft.

Continuous health monitoring in space helps doctors keep crews safe while living in weightlessness for months at a time and informs researchers how the human body adapts to microgravity.

The astronauts often wear a variety of sensors comfortably measuring vital signs throughout their shift. Advanced portable health gear and standard medical imaging hardware on the orbital outpost can analyze an astronaut’s blood samples, DNA, eyes, and more, then downlink the results to doctors on Earth.

The long-running CIPHER suite of 14 human research studies collects a crew member’s mental and physical health data before, during, and after mission.

The multi-year investigation provides doctors a deeper understanding of the effects of living in space long term and helps promote an astronaut’s safety and health to ensure mission success.

NASA flight engineer Chris Williams contributed to a portion of that investigation collecting his blood and urine samples using medical tools adapted for microgravity.

Next, he processed his samples with a centrifuge and small tubes then stowed the biological specimens in a science freezer for preservation and later analysis.

Williams, in between his blood work and urinalysis, worked inside the Quest airlock with NASA flight engineer Jessica Meir continuing to stow the tools that they used during a spacewalk to repair the Canadarm2 robotic arm on June 30.

Williams also joined Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergey Kud-Sverchkov and Sergei Mikaev and checked the custom-fit seat liners they will sit in when they ride back to Earth inside the Soyuz MS-28 spacecraft at the end of the month.

Meir finished her shift inside the Unity module replacing brackets and panels to make room for life support equipment.

NASA flight engineer Jack Hathaway retrieved the NanoRacks CubeSat deployer from inside the Kibo laboratory module’s airlock then uninstalled it from Kibo’s multipurpose experiment platform.

Several days earlier, the device deployed tiny satellites designed by university students for a variety of communications and technology investigations into Earth orbit. Hathaway then entered the Permanent Multipurpose Module and cleaned up cargo.

ESA (European Space Agency) flight engineer Sophie Adenot began her shift transferring cargo in and out of the Cygnus XL cargo spacecraft with assistance from Meir.

Next, she set up eye imaging hardware then powered on the Ultrasound 2 device and checked its video connections. Adenot, at the end of her shift, collected airflow measurements in the station’s modules and inspected ventilation system components.

Kud-Sverchkov and Sergei Mikaev participated in eye checks using the same gear Adenot set up earlier. The duo also collected their blood and saliva samples for analysis before staging cargo to be packed later inside the Souz MS-28.

Roscosmos flight engineer Andrey Fedyaev spent his shift swapping out radiation detection gear, measuring his blood pressure with a series of arm, wrist, and finger cuffs, then inspecting laptop computers inside the Nauka science module.

You’re Always Surrounded by Neutrinos!

This second, as you’re reading these words, trillions of tiny particles are hurtling toward you! No, you don’t need to brace yourself. They’re passing through you right now.

And now. And now. These particles are called neutrinos, and they’re both everywhere in the cosmos and also extremely hard to find.

Neutrinos are fundamental particles, like electrons, so they can’t be broken down into smaller parts. They also outnumber all the atoms in the universe.

(Atoms are made up of electrons, protons, and neutrons. Protons and neutrons are made of quarks.) The only thing that outnumbers neutrinos are all the light waves left over from the birth of the universe!

Physicist Wolfgang Pauli proposed the existence of the neutrino, nearly a century ago. Enrico Fermi coined the name, which means “little neutral one” in Italian, because these particles have no electrical charge and nearly no mass.

Despite how many there are, neutrinos are hard to study. They travel at almost the speed of light and rarely interact with other matter. Out of the universe’s four forces, ghostly neutrinos are only affected by gravity and the weak force.

The weak force is about 10,000 times weaker than the electromagnetic force, which affects electrically charged particles. Because neutrinos carry no charge, move almost as fast as light, and don’t interact easily with other matter, they can escape some bizarre and extreme places where even light might struggle getting out — like dying stars!

Through the weak force, neutrinos interact with other tiny fundamental particles: electrons, muons [mew-ons], and taus [rhymes with “ow”]. Scientists never detect neutrinos directly.

They find signals from these other particles, so they named the three types, or flavors, of neutrinos after them. That means there’s an electron neutrino, muon neutrino, and tau neutrino.

Neutrinos are made up of each of these three flavors, but cycle between them as they travel. Imagine going to the store to buy rocky road ice cream, which is made of chocolate ice cream, nuts, and marshmallows.

When you get home, you find that it’s suddenly mostly marshmallows. Then in your bowl it’s mostly nuts. But when you take a bite, it’s just chocolate ice cream! That’s a little bit like what happens to neutrinos as they zoom through the cosmos.

On Earth, neutrinos are produced when unstable atoms decay, which happens in the planet’s core and nuclear reactors. (The first-ever neutrino detection happened in a nuclear reactor and was published in 1956!)

They’re also created by particle accelerators and high-speed particle collisions in the atmosphere. (Also, interestingly, the potassium in a banana emits neutrinos — but no worries, bananas are perfectly safe to eat!)

Most of the neutrinos around Earth come from the Sun — about 65 billion every second for every square centimeter.

These are produced in the Sun’s core where the immense pressure squeezes together hydrogen to produce helium. This process, called nuclear fusion, creates the energy that makes the Sun shine, as well as neutrinos.

The first neutrinos scientists detected from outside the Milky Way were from SN 1987A, a supernova that occurred only 168,000 light-years away in a neighboring galaxy called the Large Magellanic Cloud.

(That makes it one of the closest supernovae scientists have observed.) The light from this explosion reached us in 1987, so it was the first supernova modern astronomers were able to study in detail.

The neutrinos actually arrived a few hours before the light from the explosion because of the forces discussed earlier. The particles escape the star’s core before any of the other effects of the collapse ripple to the surface.

Then they travel in pretty much a straight line — all because they don’t interact with other matter very much.

How do we detect particles that are so tiny and fast — especially when they rarely interact with other matter? Well, the National Science Foundation decided to bury a bunch of detectors in Antarctic ice to create the IceCube Neutrino Observatory.

The detector measures about 0.6 miles (or 1 kilometer) on each side, giving it a volume of about 0.2 cubic miles or one cubic kilometer. The neutrinos interact with other particles in the ice through the weak force and turn into muons, electrons, and taus.

The new particles gain the neutrinos’ speed and travel faster than light in the ice, which produces a particular kind of radiation IceCube can detect. (Although they would still be slower than light in the vacuum of space.)

In 2013, IceCube first detected high-energy neutrinos, which have energies up to 1,000 times greater than those produced by Earth’s most powerful particle collider. But scientists were puzzled about where exactly these particles came from.

Then, in 2017, IceCube detected a high-energy neutrino from a monster black hole powering a high-speed particle jet at a galaxy’s center billions of light-years away.

It was accompanied by a flash of gamma rays — the highest energy form of light — which was caught by NASA’s Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope.

But particle jets aren’t the only place we can find these particles. In 2021, scientists announced that another high-energy neutrino came from a black hole shredding an unlucky star that strayed too close.

NASA’s Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory helped other space- and ground-based telescopes study the event. They found that it didn’t produce the neutrino when or how scientists expected, though, so there’s still a lot to learn about these mysterious particles!

Asylum seeker sought by police after New York mom found dead

An asylum seeker was on the run last night, after a mum was beaten to death in her own home.

The Middle Eastern suspect is now being hunted over the brutal murder in Co Kerry, Ireland, yesterday of an American-born mum of one, who had lived in Killarney for the past five years. She was named locally as Jamey Carney, the mother to a 13-year-old girl. Gardai (police) are set to launch a murder inquiry as early as Wednesday morning.

The asylum seeker suspect, who was known to Ms. Carney, previously lived in France, and there were fears last night that he may now try to flee Ireland after the killing.

"There is a major search for him," a source told us last night.

We have learned the suspect, who is in his 20s, has been living at an IPAS center in Killarney, but knew Ms. Carney and occasionally stayed at her house in the Muckross Road area of the town, where her body was found yesterday afternoon.

He is believed to have been living in Ireland since the middle of 2024 and was an applicant for international protection.

Ms. Carney, who was a native of New York, was found dead in her bed after her young daughter raised the alarm to a family friend at around 1:20 p.m. yesterday when she became concerned for her welfare.

That friend then contacted a man she knew, who immediately phoned gardai. Officers then rushed to the scene, but Ms. Carney, 43, was then pronounced dead in her own bed. Sources tell us Ms. Carney's body had been hidden by a duvet being placed over her.

We have learned that she suffered serious head injuries after being subjected to a brutal attack - and gardai are set to launch a murder inquiry.

"There is no doubt she was murdered," a source said.

Although her body was found at around 1:30 p.m., sources tell us investigators believe Ms. Carney was beaten to death late on Monday night or into the early hours of yesterday, and lay dead in her bed for up to 13 hours.

"It probably happened overnight," a source confirmed.

We have also learned that the sound of an argument between Ms. Carney and a man could be heard in the house late on Monday night.

Ms. Carney was well known in the area, even though she had only been in Ireland for around five years.

Local non-party councilor Martin Grady had provided her with professional assistance in recent years and said the entire community was devastated by her death.

"I knew her well. Everyone is really shocked, " he said.

He added: "She was a loving mother and a very hard worker. I would encourage people to help gardai in this investigation.

"No matter how big or small the information they have, please just give it to the gardai. This is an absolute tragedy."

And fellow councilor John O'Donoghue, of Kerry Independent Alliance, who knew Ms Carney to see, said: "The air has just gone out of the town. It is cloaked in sadness."

Ms. Carney was also heavily involved in the local Palestine support campaign and was well known and respected in the town.

Gardai appealed for witnesses last night. The force said in a statement, "Gardaí and emergency services responded to an incident at a domestic residence this afternoon. A woman, aged in her 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"The State Pathologist has been notified, and a post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course. The scene is currently preserved for technical examination.

"A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed to lead the investigation. An incident room has been established at Killarney Garda station."

It added: "Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.

"Anyone who was in the Muckross Road area of Killarney between the evening of the 6th and the afternoon of the 7th of July 2026 and who may have camera footage, including CCTV or dashcam, is asked to provide this footage to investigating Gardaí.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Killarney Garda Station on 064 667 1160, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station. Investigations are ongoing."

Ms. Carney was originally from New York and just a few days ago took to social media to wish fellow Americans happy Independence Day on July 4.

And she also posted how much she enjoyed attending a concert in Dublin by The Cure last week.
