🎉 Happy 86th Birthday to Sir Patrick Stewart! ⚓🎂
Best known as Captain (later Admiral) Jean-Luc Picard, Stewart helped bring to life a character inspired by one of naval fiction's greatest leaders: C.S. Forester's Horatio Hornblower. Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry envisioned Picard as a thoughtful, disciplined captain in the Hornblower tradition—placing duty, leadership, and moral courage above all else.
Stewart also portrayed another legendary seafarer as Captain Ahab in Moby Dick (1998), further cementing his place in maritime storytelling.

We remember Sir Sam Neill (1947–2026), whose remarkable career left a lasting mark on audiences around the world.
For naval audiences, Neill will be remembered for his role as Captain Second Rank Vasily Borodin, the steadfast executive officer aboard the Soviet submarine Red October in The Hunt for Red October (1990). His portrayal of Borodin's professionalism, loyalty, and quiet courage helped make the film one of the most respected naval thrillers ever brought to the screen.

A man and a dog have been taken into custody at the US Capitol after a vehicle (with what looks like Florida license plates) entered a restricted area and a gun was spotted. At this time, it is unclear if the man or the dog was driving, and who the gun belonged to. ;-)
