Democrat Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear Optimistic He Will Get to Appoint Replacement to McConnell
July 14, 2026 | Sundance |
The professionally Republican have been pretending to have 20-minute discussions with Senator Mitch McConnellin an effort to keep the Democrat governor of Kentucky, Andy Beshear, from appointing a replacement.
Beshear has now openly began to challenge the assertions of the professionally Republican team and demand proof of life and capability or he will replace McConnell.
WASHINGTON DC – Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said he is willing to launch a legal challenge to allow him to choose Mitch McConnell’s replacement if the senator cannot return to office.
Beshear, a Democrat, told MS NOW’s Politics Nation host Rev. Al Sharpton on Sunday that he “might make some news right here” while revealing the potential options he has as governor to replace the 84-year-old, whose health has been the subject of intense speculation for weeks.
[…] there is a Kentucky constitutional provision that says that I appoint all state officers when there’s a vacancy,” he added.“The question is, does that apply to federal offices?Well, before there was ever a law in Kentucky on how this would work, multiple appointments were made by governors, assumably under that provision.” (read more)

Europe’s position on Ukraine is a ‘dead end’ – Kremlin
A resolution of the conflict without Russia is impossible, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said
Published 14 Jul, 2026 18:08
Europe cannot play a meaningful role in resolving the Ukraine conflict while trying to exclude Russia from the process, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said, calling the bloc’s position a “dead end.”
Peskov was responding to remarks by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who argued that any future “security guarantees”for Kiev should bedetermined by Ukraine and its Western backers without Russia’s participation.
“Such statements demonstrate that the position taken by the Europeans is a dead end.If they insist on it, they will have no role in the settlement process,” Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.
Merz made the comments at a ‘Coalition of the Willing’ summit in Paris on Monday, where he pledged that Germany and Ukraine’s otherWestern supporters would continue supplying military aid to Kiev after any future ceasefire.
The group brings together several EU nations, as well as the UK, Norway, Iceland, and Türkiye. It has been discussing post-conflict security arrangements for Ukraine, including proposals to deploy a multinational force, despite Russia’s repeated rejection of foreign troops near its borders.
At last week’s NATO summit in Ankara, member states agreed to provide Ukraine with more than €70 billion ($80 billion) in military assistance this year and next. Germany pledged the largest national contribution.
Germany has been the EU’s biggest supporter of Ukraine since the escalation of the conflict in February 2022, providing around €55.5 billion in military aid, according to government data. German media have also reported that Berlin will finance the purchase of 50,000 attack drones for the Ukrainian military.
The latest pledges come as Ukraine has intensified drone strikes on Russian energy infrastructure and residential areas in recent months amid continued setbacks on the battlefield, launching several hundred UAVs a day on average. Moscow has also reported a growing number of FPV drone attacks, including AI-guided models, targeting passenger buses and private vehicles.
The Kremlin has repeatedly saidthat any lasting peace settlement must address the root causes of the conflict, including Ukraine’s neutrality, demilitarization, protection of Russian speakers, and recognition of the territorial realities on the ground.
Russian officials have also argued that Britain, France, and Germany undermined previous peace efforts, including the 2014-2015 Minsk agreements and the 2022 Istanbul draft deal.Moscow has warned that any deployment of Western troops to Ukraine would be treated as foreign intervention.

The problem they have is they keep saying the US will back them up, but Trump specifically said there’s no way the US will be involved. This will group are idiots!
Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett shared her experience of receiving threats against her life and being swatted during a hearing before a House Appropriations subcommittee on Tuesday.
Barrett said statistics about an increase in threats to Supreme Court justices “sound abstract, but being on the receiving end of them is not.”
The threats “have required my children to think about and see things that children should not have to see or think about.”
Barrett recalled walking into her house with a bulletproof vest given to her by her security detail following the leak of the court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. She said she put down the vest on a table and turned around to see her 12-year-old son standing in the doorway, curious about what the vest was and why she had it.
“I didn't know how to respond because maybe I lack imagination,” Barrett said. “But I didn't expect that performing this service was going to put me in the position of explaining to my children what a bulletproof vest was and why I had to wear one.”
The justice also pointed to recent reports that she had been the target of a swatting incident, when people falsely report gunshots to provoke law enforcement officials to respond.
“I was very, very grateful that I had Supreme Court police outside my home because they were able to stop and meet with and explain to the county police that it had been a false alarm and so the police did not actually attempt to enter our home,” she said.
Members of the Supreme Court have not testified before Congress since 2019. Barrett and Justice Elena Kagan’s appearances in both House and Senate hearings Tuesday are focused on requesting more funding for security, as threats and incidents of harassment and intimidation aimed at the judiciary have risen.
The justices are making their rare appearance after the Supreme Court wrapped up its latest term late last month with major decisions on birthright citizenship, transgender rights, executive authority, campaign finance rules and mail-in voting – all topics that may come up in lawmakers’ questioning, in addition to the security funds request.

Why your flights are getting bumpier: Experts reveal the surprising reason severe turbulence has soared by 55 per cent
03:33 EDT 14 Jul 20261/2
It's dreaded by even the most frequent flyers: the seat belt sign constantly dinging, belongings sliding across the cabin floor and seats shuddering through rough air.
And if you've noticed flights getting bumpier over the past few years, the data suggests you're right.
New research by the University of Reading has found that instability-generating wind shear in the jet stream has soared by 15 per cent since 1979.
Similarly, severe clear-air turbulence (CAT) on busy flight routes has also risen by 55 per cent.
In fact, Delta Air Lines is being taken to court by a group of passengers after a severe turbulence incident on July 30, 2025 left 25 people injured.
Meanwhile, on an easyJet flight earlier this year, the pilot was forced to declare an emergency and return the aircraft to the UK after facing a bout of serious turbulence.
In another incident, ten people were injured on a Cathay Pacific flight from Brisbane to Hong Kong in May after turbulence hurtled passengers and cabin crew into the ceiling of the plane.
But what is causing this rapid rise in rough and choppy journeys?
Pilot reveals what turbulence looks like from the cockpit
Former airline captain Emma Hendersontells the Daily Mail: 'Whether we like it or not, the main reason is climate change.'
She explains how, as the atmosphere warms, jet streams can be strengthened in some regions due to differences in temperature between air masses.
'Stronger wind shear within and around the jet stream creates more clear-air turbulence, which is particularly challenging because it cannot be seen on weather radar,' the pilot, who is now a professional public speaker, explains.
Clear-air turbulence (CAT) is increasing 'most noticeably' at cruising altitude, but, she notes, 'not all turbulence is increasing'.
'We have also seen an increase in thunderstorm activity in the UK recently and that brings with it a risk of more turbulence too,' Ms Henderson adds.
Turbulence could 'potentially' become more common in the future as global warming continues.
'Climate models suggest that if global temperatures continue to rise, clear-air turbulence could become more frequent and more intense on some major flight routes, particularly across the North Atlantic and North America,' the captain explains.
But it doesn't mean you will have to prepare for a bumpy flight every time you jet off on holiday – the aviation industry is adapting.
The worst regions for turbulence, according to a former airline captain…
The North Atlantic jet stream, particularly in winter
The Rocky Mountains, where mountain waves can be significant
The Andes
The Himalayas
Japan and East Asia during strong jet stream activity
Equatorial regions where powerful thunderstorms develop
Parts of central Africa during the rainy season

From improved turbulence forecasting to electronic flight bags that display live turbulence information for pilots, there are many ways airlines are utilising technology to help make journeys smoother.
Ms Henderson, who has decades of flying experience under her belt, explains: 'Pilots today have much more information than we did even 15 years ago.'
Even simple changes like 'more proactive seat belt policies' and ensuring cabin crew are 'often being seated earlier when turbulence is expected' help to make flights smoother and safer.
How the pilot actually flies the plane can also affect how much impact the aircraft might experience.
Things like changing the altitude or even slightly altering the route can create a more pleasant journey.
'Sometimes climbing or descending just 2,000 feet finds much smoother air,' Ms Henderson says.
The former captain explains how pilots can also 'reduce speed to the aircraft’s turbulence penetration speed, which reduces structural loads and often makes the ride feel less abrupt.'
When it is possible to do so, simply flying around the turbulence is another solution.
Thunderstorms are normally avoided completely because they contain severe turbulence, hail, lightning and strong vertical air currents,' Ms Henderson says. 'Pilots will happily deviate many miles around them.'
CAT, however, is more difficult to avoid 'because you can't see it'.
There are several regions that can be particularly bad for turbulence, including the North Atlantic jet stream, the Himalayas and the Andes, according to Ms Henderson.
She says passengers shouldn't be concerned about the rise in turbulence, but warns people to be 'respectful'.
'The biggest risk from turbulence isn’t the aircraft. It’s people inside the cabin who aren’t restrained,' Ms Henderson emphasises.
She adds: 'Almost all serious turbulence injuries involve passengers or crew being thrown against the cabin because they weren’t strapped in.'
Modern planes are equipped to deal with stronger forces than typical turbulence, and pilots are as keen as passengers to avoid a bumpy ride.
Overall, the pilot insists that turbulence is simply 'uncomfortable' rather than 'unsafe'.
How can passengers reduce the effects they may feel from turbulence?
Henderson says:
Keep your seat belt loosely fastened whenever you’re seated, even if the sign is off
Choose a seat over or just ahead of the wings if you’re particularly nervous, as this is usually the smoothest part of the aircraft
Avoid excessive alcohol if you’re prone to motion sickness
Stay hydrated
Look outside rather than focusing on objects moving around inside the cabin
Remember that turbulence feels dramatic because you’re inside a large, enclosed space, but aircraft are designed to flex. That movement is a sign they’re doing exactly what they’re designed to do
Listen to the cabin crew. They are responding to information from the flight deck, not simply reacting to how the cabin feels.

Ukrainian commander arrested over civilian executions
Stanislav Luchanov stands accused of ordering soldiers to kidnap and kill two brothers after a personal dispute
Published 14 Jul, 2026 09:18 |
A former Ukrainian brigade commander has been detained in Kiev over allegations that he ordered soldiers to kidnap and kill two civilian brothers following a personal dispute, Ukrainian authorities have confirmed.
Stanislav Luchanov, the former commander of Ukraine’s 155th Separate Mechanized Brigade, who had previously also served in the infamous ‘Skala’ regiment, was arrested in Kiev on Monday after investigators accused him of organizing the abduction. Nine other servicemen had previously also been detained in the case.
The incident revolves around what began as a personal dispute in the village of Kalinovka in Kiev Region, between the two brothers, Maksim and Roman Moseychuk, and Luchanov’s wife, who had complained that the men were riding motorcycles and playing loud music.
After she confronted them, the brothers allegedly insulted her. The woman reportedly complained to Luchanov, who demanded that the two men apologize. When they refused, he allegedly ordered several servicemen under his command to “punish” them.
In the early hours of June 28, armed men broke into the brothers’ property, abducted them and transported them to another region. Their bodies were later found buried in a forest in Poltava Region, with multiple gunshot wounds.
Luchanov and the other suspects are now being investigated for the illegal detention and premeditated murder of two civilians and could face life in prison if convicted. The commander has also reportedly been charged with desertion for abandoning his unit after the case became public.
The scandal has also drawn renewed attention to Luchanov’s previous service in the 425th Separate Assault Regiment ‘Skala’, which has itself been at the center of a major abuse scandal.
Last month, Ukrainianoutlet Babel reported alleged torture, beatings and non-combat deaths among mobilized recruits at Skala training sites, estimating that at least 25 recruits had diedin or after passing through the unit’s camps over six months.
The Ukrainian military has since suspended the unit’s commander, Yury Harkaviy, pending an investigation.
The Ukrainian outlet Strana has reported that investigators are now alsolooking into mysterious disappearances of servicemen from Luchanov’s 155th Brigade. The outlet’s sources have claimed that soldiers who fell out of favor with the commander may have been killed and listed as combat losses.
The cases come as Ukraine faces worsening manpower shortages, mass desertions and growing public anger over forced mobilization. Ukrainian media have repeatedly reported violent draft raids, deaths in conscription centers and abuse inside military units.
Moscow, meanwhile, has accused Kiev of relying on coercion to replenish battlefield losses and sacrificing its own population to keep fighting on behalf of Western backers.

War of words turns ugly after EU migration vote
A Swedish MEP has filed criminal charges after a Danish colleague told her to “go home” in a social media post
Published 14 Jul, 2026 02:
A dispute over an immigration bill passed by the European Parliament has escalated into a criminal complaint, with a Swedish MEP accusing a Danish colleague of racist hate speech over a social media comment, The Guardian reported on Monday.
A Swedish MEP of Iraqi descent, Abir Al-Sahlani, filed the complaint with Swedish police against Danish MEP Kristoffer Storm. He told her to “go home” in response to her post criticizing anti-immigration chants that followed the passage of a law aimed at speeding up the deportation of illegal migrants. She has also lodged a formal complaint with European Parliament President Roberta Metsola.
The dispute stems from last month’s approval of the Return Regulation, the toughest anti-immigration legislation passed by the EU in recent years. The measure allows member states to establish ‘return hubs’ outside the bloc to accelerate the deportation of illegal migrants.
After the vote, chants of “send them back!”erupted in the chamber. In a speech condemning the outburst, Al-Sahlani called it “a new low level, even for the fascists on the far right.”
“I have never felt as unsafe in this parliament as after the voting about the Return Regulation, because the shouting of the far right was not against the political opponent… It was about ordinary people who did no other crime than looking for a better life in Europe,” she said.
Storm rejected accusations that his response online was racist. Speaking to Politico, he said the phrase “go home”referred to leaving the parliamentary chamber, arguing that if Al-Sahlani found the democratic decision and lawmakers’ reactions so upsetting, “she would have been better off leaving the chamber.”
The clash comes amid growing tensions over migration across the EU.According to Eurostat, the bloc received more than 8.5 million immigrants from outside the bloc in 2023 and 2024, and immigration remains one of the most divisive issues in European politics.
Earlier this month, US President Donald Trump claimed that European countries had deteriorated to the status of “Third World countries” because of their immigration policies.

The EU is too late, they should have done this in the beginning.
First payouts go to ‘Havana Syndrome’ US victims
Those affected by the mysterious malaise have received almost $3 million in compensation, according to the Pentagon
Published 12 Jul, 2026 09:36 |
The US government has made its first payments to American personnel affected by the unexplained health condition known as ‘Havana Syndrome,’ the Pentagon has said.
The victims of the mysterious malaise have already received almost $3 million in compensation under the Havana Act of 2021, the Department of War said in a statement on Friday.
The department’s “commitment to mitigating non-kinetic threats remains absolute,” the statement read. The Pentagon will continue to improve care for those affected by ‘Havana Syndrome’ and “adapt to a dynamic operational environment,” it added.
The health condition got its name due to being first identified among US embassy staff in the Cuban capital, Havana, in 2016. According to the victims, its symptoms included headaches, dizziness, nausea, hearing loss, memory issues and difficulty concentrating.
Reports ofAmerican diplomats experiencing ‘Havana Syndrome’have since emerged in China, Russia, Australia, the US itself and dozens of other countries, with over 1,500 cases registered globally.
Despite investigating the matter for years, Washington has been unable to identify the causes of the malaise. Most scientist explain it citing environmental factors, including the chirping of crickets and cicadas, and stress situations, with medical checkups of those affected revealing no brain damage.
There has been speculation about the malaise being the result of the deployment of an unknown microwave or electronic weapon. But a paper by the US National Intelligence Council last year said that mostAmerican spy agencies “assess that it is ‘very unlikely’ a foreign adversary is responsible” for the cases of the ‘Havana Syndrome.’
In 2024, The Insider, Der Spiegel and CBS’s 60 Minutes published a joint report, linking the health condition to the activities of a Russian intelligence unit.
At the time, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov denounced the article as “nothing more than baseless, unsubstantiated allegation by the media.”
There have been a number of attempts to blame the ‘Havana Syndrome’ on Moscow over the years, but no convincing proof of its involvement has ever been presented, Peskov stressed.

Rubio expands plans for high-level meeting focused on 'far-left terrorism'Finally!
Officials will lay the groundwork for "coordinated action," documents say.
July 14, 2026, 5:33 AM ET
Secretary of State Marco Rubio is preparing to host delegations from more than70 countries this week for a gathering focused on addressing what the Trump administration describes as the overlooked threat posed by "the resurgence of transnational far-left terrorism," according to a State Department official and internal documents reviewed exclusively by ABC News.
"For too long this threat has remained a blind spotin the international community's counterterrorism focus, underestimated and under-resourced, despite the danger it poses," a note shared with foreign governments describing the concept of the meeting reads.
It goes on to assert that law enforcement andcounterterrorism experts have revealed a "clear trend" of "globally networked, politically-motivated terrorists – particularly far-left terrorists" increasingly turning to "organized, deadly violence to advance their political objectives."
The meeting, which will take place in Washington on Thursday, will lay the foundation for "coordinated action" to counter international organizations that are "seeking to implement an extreme political vision through intimidation and coordinated campaigns of terror," the document states.
Representatives from roughly 60 countries were initially expected to attend, but the State Department said in a post to X on Fridayit would expand the ministerial due to "overwhelming interest" by inviting additional countries "working to combat the growing international threat of far-left violence."
A State Department official said more than 10 additional invitations had been extended.
Some critics of the Trump administration's counterterrorism approach haveclaimed its focus on threats from the far left is misguided.
Analysis conducted by the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in 2025 found that while left-wing violence in the U.S. has increased over the past decade, "it has risen from very low levels and remains much lower than historical levels of violence carried out by right-wing and jihadist attackers."
The CSIS report concluded it was "important to resource all dimensions of the terrorism threat."
"Left-wing terrorism is a Trump administration priority, but jihadist terrorism also remains a concern even though it has declined," it states. "Right-wing terrorism could come roaring back, especially if in 2028 there are complaints of a 'stolen election' or similar incendiary claims."
The ACLU has also taken issue with multiple actions taken by the Trump administration's counterterrorism approach, accusing it oftargeting politically opposed but peaceful activists and donors "under the guise of addressing political violence and domestic terrorism."

Apple in talks with startup that shrinks AI models to run on an iPhone. (Hell No!)
TUE, JUL 14 2026
KEY POINTS
• Apple is evaluating PrismML’s technology, which the startup says can shrink powerful AI models enough to run directly on an iPhone while using up to 15x less memory.
• The breakthrough could help Apple make Siri faster and more private by keeping more AI processing on-device instead of sending requests to the cloud.
• If PrismML’s claims hold up in real-world testing, the technology could reshape demand for memory and datacenter compute —though analysts say AI will still require plenty of chips.
