I’ve always liked Todd Blanche after watching him with Trump in the NY trial. Todd had to understand and be attuned with Trump; he reallly was amazing with Trump.

The U.S. launched two back-to-back waves of strikes against Iran on Wednesday, marking the fifth day of attacks on Iran as both countries angle to control the Strait of Hormuz.

Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan reported incoming Iranian missile or drone attacks earlier Wednesday, as Iran lashed out again at U.S. allies in the Middle East in retaliation.

The US imposedsanctions Tuesday on more than 50 individuals, companies and vessels accused of supporting an alleged illicit shipping and sanctions evasion networklinked to Iranian oil shipping magnate Mohammad Hossein Shamkhani, the Treasury Department announced.

The Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control said the measures are part of Washington's broader campaign to increase economic pressure on Iran following what it described as Tehran's renewed “destabilizing attacks” in the Strait of Hormuz.

The sanctions target financial facilitators, shipping executives, logistics firms and vessel operators based in multiple countries. As a result of the designations, all property and interests in property of the sanctioned individuals and entities subject to US jurisdiction are blocked.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the sanctions are intended to dismantle a major financial network supporting the Iranian government.

"The Iranian regime survives on deception, and the Shamkhani network is one of its most profitable engines," he said. "Treasury is shutting down the financial infrastructure that allows the regime to continue its threats to US national security and global shipping."

In a separate statement, State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott saidthe action aims to disrupt Shamkhani’s “illicit shipping and sanctions evasion network” amid Iran’s attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

He claimed that the network uses Iranian and foreign nationals, companies and offshore shell firms to "trade sanctioned goods and recover the proceeds of those trades."

“Iran has allowed an American Citizen, who was wrongfully detained in December of 2024under the “presidency” of Sleepy Joe Biden, to leave the Country,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

“She is now safely outside of Iran, and in good condition. The United States of America appreciates this gesture of Goodwill by Iran,” he added.

The statement came amid escalating tensions between the US and Iran over the Strait of Hormuz, with American forces striking Iran and Tehran responding with attacks on US military bases across the region despite a Pakistani-mediated framework agreement toward reaching a lasting settlement.

"Let no one have any doubt: our fight will continue until FETO is totally eradicated and this treacherous network, which disguises itself in every possible form, is uprooted once and for all," Recep Tayyip Erdogan wrote on Turkish social media platform NSosyal.

"Ten years ago, on the night of July 15, we, as a nation, wrote a magnificent epic together. Smooth Sailing Ahead for DNI Nominee Jay Clayton

One thing is obvious from today, the SSCI want Jay Clayton confirmed as DNI.

The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence held a quick, one-round, nomination hearing for Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton.The entire event lasted just under two hours with little room for controversy. It should be smooth sailing from here.

Other than a little faux resistance from SSCI Vice-Chairman Mark Warner, the nomination hearing was otherwise unremarkable.You can always tell the position of the Intelligence Community by the positioning of their enabling structure within the SSCI. No worries ahead for Clayton.

The committee may organize a party line vote so that Democrats can maintain their resistance bona fides, but in a general sense it’s all optics during the downhill glide to the nomination.That said, what this means in the larger picture of the USIC system during the Trump administration is yet to be determined.

Obviously FISA (702) reauthorization will likely be attached by Senate Majority Leader John Thune into a legislative package for a companion vote.The SSCI and larger Senate chamber all support Clayton and FISA (702), though there may be some optics of resistance from positional republicans.

It seems pretty clear that Acting DNI Bill Pulte was put in place by the White House to stay on through the release of election-related material planned for Thursdaynight.

This move keeps DNI Clayton away from any fallout tied to the 2020 election investigation, andif the White House can pull off a presidential presentation that grabs public attention, Clayton could step into the role laterwith a mandate to dig into the details of the release without being directly linked to it.

The second aspect is yet another motive for fast DNI confirmationby an SSCI apparatus that really doesn’t want to go down the rabbit hole of foreign activity in the 2020 election.

ADNI Bill Pulte and SGE John Solomon are now positioned to have one shot at grabbing political attention framed around the fraudulent 2020 election outcome on Thursday night. Soon thereafter, Clayton will take the reins at DNI and continue the goal of removing politics from the activity of the larger Intelligence Community.
