New UK PM allows U.S. to use British bases for attacks
ANDY Burnham has given the go-ahead to the US to use British military bases for “defensive strikes” against Iran, it has been reported.
The new PM has continued with Keir Starmer’s controversial policy – with Donald Trump vowing today he is “not finished yet”.
RAF bases like Fairford and Diego Garcia can continue to be used by the Americans to strike the Islamic Republic, Bloomberg reports.
It appears to be the first major national security judgment by the Labour leader, who risked coming to blows with Donald Trump if he declined access to US aircraft.
In his final hours in 10 Downing Street, Starmer chaired a COBR meeting on UK policy after seven days of renewed US bombardment of Iran.
Ministers at that meeting chose to continue with the existing policy that bases could be used for countering the Iranian missile threat and sites used to target the Strait of Hormuz, sources revealed.
Burnham was informed of the decision – and appears to have agreed with it – despite the risk of angering anti-war Labour voters.
Some Labour MPs, the Green Party and the Liberal Democrats have also argued that the use of the bases makes the UK complicit in war crimes.
Asked about the use of UK bases, a US official told The Telegraph: “Trump has made clear his deep disappointment about NATO allies’ lack of support throughout Operation Epic Fury, which is making the entire world safer by denuclearising Iran.
“The US has thousands of troops stationed in Europe to protect Europe, but requests to use NATO bases during this conflict were denied.
“The US expects to be able to use its bases in Europe to advance global, and European, security.”
Trump previously came to blows with Starmer when the then-M refused his request at the start of the war in February.
This comes as the US President said he had a “very good” talk with the new PM on Monday.
“We discussed many subjects, including the outstanding relationship we have had with the UK,” he wrote on Truth Social.
This included “North Sea Oil, Trade, the Military Alliance, Demining of the Hormuz Strait, and many other topics”.
Trump added: “The call was interesting, and went very well.”

Treasury stopped nearly $100M in taxpayer money from going to dead people after new gov’t measure implemented
The Treasury Department has blocked nearly $100 million in taxpayer money from going to dead people since implementing a government-wide payment verification process last year, The Post has learned.
The department’s Bureau of the Fiscal Service discovered the money set to go to ghosts after a review of an eye-popping 885 million payments worth a total of nearly $2.7 trillion.
Since March 2025, the screening has identified more than 4,900 disbursements, worth approximately $99 million, associated with deceased payees, according to the Treasury.
The payments going to the dead – often indicative of fraud – were returned to the originating federal agencies for review before any funds were disbursed, the department said.
The $99 million figure is a tiny fraction (0.0036%) of the $2.7 trillion the department reviewed as part of the Trump administration’s crackdown on waste, fraud and abuse — but more than triple what Treasury discovered going to the deceased in the days before President Trump took office last year.
“Treasury has delivered on a key promise of President Trump’s mandate to stop improper payments and fraud before money leaves the Treasury, and strengthen the integrity of the federal payment system,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in a statement.
“Together with Vice President Vance’s Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, this new safeguard addresses a longstanding vulnerability and helps ensure every dollar the federal government spends reaches its intended recipient,” Bessent added. “Treasury will continue efforts to modernize the federal payment system, strengthen safeguards against fraud and improper payments, and protect taxpayer dollars.”
The Treasury used the federal Do Not Pay program — which confirms a recipient’s identity, eligibility, and bank account information before issuing federal payments or awards — as well as other new verification tools to flag the $99 million that was going to the graveyard.
The department “significantly expanded” its use of the verification systems last year on Trump’s orders.
Legislation passed in 2021 granted the department temporary access to the Social Security Administration’s “Full Death Master File,” which helped identify some of the deceased payees.
In February, Trump signed the Ending Improper Payments to Deceased People Act into law, which allowed Treasury permanent access to the death file.
The department has projected a gain of $330 million in net benefits through the reduction in improper payments to dead people.

Google quadruples Miami office space as Larry Page, Sergey Brin flee Calif. ahead of billionaire tax
Google’s parent company Alphabet has reportedly more than quadrupled its office space in Miami this year after co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin bought mansions in the area, fleeing California ahead of a proposed tax on billionaires.
This spring, Alphabet signed a lease to expand its Miami space to about 45,000 square feet, adding to its current 10,000 square-foot satellite office in the city’s financial district, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
Page and Brin are the second- and third-richest people in the world, with net worths of $257 billion and $237 billion, respectively, according to Forbes.
Their recent real estate purchases in South Florida helped drive Alphabet’s decision to expand, Bloomberg reported.
Over the past year, Page bought $188 million in Miami real estate, including a $101.5 million estate in the upscale Coconut Grove neighborhood.
Brin snapped up a Miami Beach waterfront home for a cool $51 million.
The billionaire duo represent some of the highest-profile exits from the Golden State ahead of the November midterms, when voters will weigh in on a ballot measure that could impose a one-time 5% tax on those worth over $1 billion.
Page and Brin, who built their fortunes in California after creating Google in 1998 as two Stanford University grad students, started cutting ties with the state earlier this year – terminating or moving several limited liability companies.
Brin and former Google CEO Eric Schmidt have joined forces with some of Silicon Valley’s biggest moguls to create a pro-business organization that is poised to lobby against the billionaire tax.
Page and Brin stepped down from their executive roles in 2019, but they remain on Alphabet’s board and still hold majority voting control.
Even after the expansion, Alphabet’s Miami offices are small compared to the tech giant’s 10 million-square-foot Mountain View, Calif., campus and its 1.7 million square-foot New York City outpost.
But the Miami moves are a sign that wealthy individuals fleeing high-tax states like California and New York aren’t just scooping up property in South Florida — they’re expanding their business presence and potentially boosting the local economy, too.
Other tech bigwigs have made major real estate purchases in the area, including Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg’s record-breaking $170 million purchase of a “billionaire bunker” on a private island near Miami.
Palantir CEO Alex Karp bought a Miami Beach home last year and went on to announce the company was moving its headquarters from Denver, Colo., to Miami.
Before billionaires started leaving California, New Yorkers fled for Florida in droves during the pandemic as they sought safer, cheaper and sunnier lifestyles.
More than 125,000 New Yorkers left for Florida between 2018 and 2022 and took nearly $14 billion in income with them, according to the nonpartisan Citizens Budget Commission.
The Sunshine State netted $20.65 billion in annual adjusted gross income from tax filers who moved between 2019 and 2023 – including $10.5 billion in Greater Miami alone, according to IRS data.
By 2023, the average out-of-state mover arriving in Miami was making $178,382.
Google did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.

Who cares. Why would Netanyahu even step foot in the Islamic Republic of New York anyways. Israel is a strategic ally because they fight with the US against threats in the middle-east.
