Hawley [Fauci hearing]: Let's just get one thing straight. You don't have any rights under the Fifth Amendment, because you've been pardoned. As you very well know, as the Supreme Court has been clear for a century or more; Brown vs Walker, 1896, "When he has been pardoned, he may not stand upon his privilege." You know that, your lawyers sitting behind you, now shifting nervously in their chairs, they know it. This isn't about the Constitution,this isn't about the law. This is about contempt. Contempt for this body, and contempt for the American people. But I think I know why you're doing it. It's because you don't want to answer questions. It's because you did all kinds of terrible things. It's because during the pandemic, you got rich, didn't you? You got rich while people were dying, hundreds of thousands, over a million in the end, and you were getting rich. And not only were you doing that, you were using federal employees, with taxpayer money, to apply for and solicit cash prizes for you, personally, cash prizes, totaling more than a million dollars. You did all of that during the pandemic, didn't you?

Moreno [Fauci hearing]: So you didn't know who wrote the Fifth Amendment. It's James Madison. Lived in this town. I could only wonder what he would think of somebody like you, invoking his writings to shield culpability for the actions that you took. It's no secret why you have to hire the biggest dirtbag attorney on the planet because of what you did. I hope you're paying him well. And I hope that one way or the other, somewhere, sometime, you answer for your crimes.

Chairman Paul: Because you [Fauci] refuse to answer, citing a privilege that is unsupported because of your pardon, and after being denied to do so, this committee has scheduled a vote next week on a resolution certifying your contempt.

Chairman Paul: Today will be the Capstone to Anthony Fauci's forty years of abusive power at NIH. In the end, must imagine Fauci got away with it. But still, late at night, even the guilty must become anxious, re-running the scenarios through his mind, wondering, latching on to lingering doubts and worrying. Did his actions lead to the largest man-made plague in human history? Are the millions dead, the result of his experiments, or the experiments that he approved, that increased the pathogenicity of deadly viruses? History will judge, with the facts as we now them; an assorted tale of dishonesty, misjudgement, and ultimately, with hubris, the likes of which the world has rarely seen.
