Former New Mexico lawmaker convicted of fraud appears ready to take plea deal in state case

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – After her convictions on dozens of federal charges, it appears former state Representative Sheryl Williams Stapleton plans to plead guilty to state charges. A federal grand jury found Stapleton guilty ten days ago, after she stole millions of dollars meant for Albuquerque students while working as an administrator for Albuquerque Public Schools.
