National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir on Sunday published a video of himself berating Palestinian women security prisoners for complaining about their detention conditions, boasting of his harsh policies and reminding them of far harsher conditions that Israeli hostages were held under in the Gaza Strip.

The undated video was filmed at the Damon security prison in northern Israel and comes amid Israel’s election campaign.

Since becoming national security minister, the far-right politician has frequently boasted about the harsh conditions imposed on Palestinian security prisoners. Both international and internal Israeli probes have found widespread abuse in prisons under his watch.

The women, whose faces are blurred, were seen in a row next to a wall as they spoke with the far-right minister and his entourage, some of whom, their faces likewise blurred, formed a human wall between Ben Gvir and the prisoners. The minister’s role includes responsibility for the Israel Prison Service.

Speaking via a translator, one of the inmates said she is a member of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, a terror group, and that conditions in the prison are harsh. She said prison staff regularly raid the cells, that inmates have no “normal showers” or water in their cells, and do not receive medical care.

The woman said that prisoners had “extremely bad” conditions and “don’t get any rights, and we have particular needs as women.”

“We haven’t bathed for three days, and we haven’t changed our underwear,” she said, warning of the risk of disease.

Ben Gvir responded approvingly as he compared the treatment to that of hostages held for up to two years by Hamas and other terrorists — including PIJ — in Gaza following the October 7, 2023, attack on southern Israel. Hostages reported being starved, beaten, humiliated, and going for months without bathing.

Tech firm’s $50 million Trump library gift preceded massive federal land deal

The Tokyo-based company confirmed its donation was made two months before the Trump administration approved its Ohio-based data center, expected to be the largest in the world.

The Japanese tech giant SoftBank Group gave $50 million to Donald Trump’s presidential library in January 2026 — two months before the Trump administration approved a federal land lease that will allow the firm to build what could become the world’s largest artificial intelligence data center.

The company confirmed the timing of its donation in a written response to Sens. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., and Rep. Melanie Stansbury, D-N.M., who released the letter Thursday.

The White House referred questions to the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library Foundation, which did not respond to a request for comment. SoftBank and the U.S. Energy Department also did not respond.

Although the $50 million gift was reported earlier this year, its timing around the land lease deal remained unknown. The Democratic senators said SoftBank’s donation — the library’s largest known donation — came squarely within the timeframe in which SoftBank was seeking federal approval for its Ohio project.

“Are we expected to believe it’s a coincidence that two months after SoftBank donated $50 million to the Trump library, his administration announced a massive lease deal for SoftBank’s data center?” Warren said in a statement. “Again and again, it seems like Trump is putting handshake deals with CEOs over what’s best for Americans.”

The lawmakers highlighted a sequence of events that they questioned.

In December 2025, reports surfaced that SoftBank and the administration were discussing a plan to use money from Japan’s $550 billion U.S. investment commitment to build Trump-branded industrial parks across the country. By January, SoftBank’s proposal was reported to be on the short list for selection.

That same month, SoftBank donated $50 million to the Trump library.

Then, on March 20, the Department of Energy and the Department of Commerce announced the partnership with SoftBank subsidiary SB Energy to redevelop the former Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant near Piketon, Ohio — a Cold War-era uranium enrichment site — into a 10-gigawatt AI computing campus on roughly 3,700 acres of federal land. SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son said the campus could draw up to $500 billion in private investment.

The Democrats say the arrangement let SoftBank sidestep permitting and regulatory steps that a private land project of that size would normally face. The Energy Department has described the lease as a way to put a decommissioned national security site back to work and argued SB Energy also committed to accelerated environmental cleanup of the area.

More than 100 of the world’s largest technology, cybersecurity and financial companies have issued an unusual warning: The rapid development of artificial intelligence could trigger a new wave of advanced cyberattacks against critical infrastructure within the coming months, including hospitals, water facilities and internet infrastructure.

In an open letter signed by companies including Microsoft, Google, OpenAI, Amazon and Anthropic, the firms warn that advanced AI tools are rapidly lowering the threshold required to carry out complex cyberattacks. Capabilities that once required extensive expertise, time and resources could become far cheaper, faster and more accessible even to less sophisticated attackers.

According to the companies, the window of opportunity is closing. As AI models continue to improve, so does their ability to identify vulnerabilities, write code and autonomously carry out increasingly large parts of an attack chain.

They are therefore calling on governments and companies to begin significantly upgrading their defenses now, rather than wait until such capabilities become even more widespread. Notably absent from the list of signatories are Meta and Elon Musk’s xAI.

An attack that once took weeks could be reduced to minutes

One of the main concerns involves what are known as “agentic” attacks — attacks in which AI systems do not merely provide answers or write code, but can independently carry out a sequence of actions to achieve a goal.

In the letter, the companies warn that AI agents can operate at machine speed, search systems for vulnerabilities, adapt their actions to what they find and move on to the next stage with almost no human intervention. As a result, an attack process that once might have taken days or weeks could, at least in some scenarios, be reduced to minutes.
