The OSS was formed in 1942, when Mountbatten and Donovan met in India, to reestablish the opium trade routes, that the Japanese had disrupted during their occupation of the golden triangle, and its primary export hub, Hanoi City.

They took Joe "vinegar" Stilwell, and had him build a road from the airports at Ledo, where they would fly the opium over the "Hump", to Kunming, and then to Hanoi when the japs got kicked out.

They then installed a communist agitator to recruit an army, the Vietminh, to help "free Vietnam", but in reality, they took control of the highlands where the opium was produced.

Thats right, the OSS was formed to traffic drugs…..
