Advanced Incompetence.
"Any sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice" (often called Grey's Law or Clarke's corollary) is a humorous philosophical maxim that builds upon Hanlon's Razor ("Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity").
What It Means
The Core Idea: When a person, group, or system makes catastrophic mistakes repeatedly over a long time without improving, the practical outcome is identical to deliberate sabotage.
The Moral Obligation: People who know they are bad at a task have a responsibility to learn, train, or step away. If they keep causing harm through willful ignorance or "weaponized incompetence," their behavior stops being a harmless accident and becomes effectively immoral.
Systemic Failures: In large organizations or complex systems (like bureaucratic rollouts or corporate safety lapses), incompetence at every level creates chaos that looks planned or malicious from the outside, even if nobody is individually plotting evil.
