How much did Trump’s oil stocks gain?
The Joint Economic Committee’s Democratic staff calculated that Trump’s oil-and-gas portfolio could have gained as much as $15.5 million from the end of 2025 through Aug. 17, 2026. The calculation was based on the disclosed ranges of his holdings and the performance of the relevant stocks.
The committee estimated that the holdings were worth between $12.5 million and $45.6 million at the end of 2025 and potentially between $17.2 million and $61.1 million by Aug. 17, 2026.
A separate calculation covering the period from Feb. 27 through Aug. 31 estimated paper gains of $1.5 million to $4.4 million for the nine largest oil-and-gas positions.
