Interesting. Sounds like a solid ride. 22RE engines used to be cheap. Could get used Japanese engines with low mileage cheap. Apparently they had stricter emissions requirements.
I definitely went thru my fair share of engines. The frame rotted before it had to be replaced. After a welded in brace. Apparently, from what I've been told. A Volkswagen jetta diesel engine can be placed in a Ford ranger. Got me looking, it's amazing how many vehicles are sold globally, under different names, and different configurations. Ford escape. Sold as a diesel in the UK
