it was FI that really made the B2600. From what I heard the aspirated version was an absolute pig. They added the FI and the truck just came alive. Proof is how hard it is to find them in junkyards, the 2200, all over the place. The 2600i, can't find 'em. Mine's on it's 2nd engine, orig. tranny. 4wd with the shift switch replaced with a toggle on the console, let's me run 2wd in low gear range, effectively makes the 5-speed into a 10-speed.

G5 crate engine is what I am running now. Local Napa guy told me that the reason the engines were available was that in Japan you can only run the engine for 40k. So nobody did anything to maintain them. After the 40 they scrapped the car. The scrappers pulled the engines and sent them here. Work fine long as you tear them down and do a basic rebuild on them, timing chain, lap valves, etc. The mazda G5 is the same as the G6 with a shorter stroke so you can use the same gasket set, rings, etc. You only loose 1/10L displacement.

kek. Just like the chevy short/long block back in the day. LS is apparently the modern iteration.

Gonna stick with my 4 banger mazda though. Still have the original G6 sitting in my shop waiting to be rebuilt, just haven't gotten around to it yet. They don't use salt on the roads here so frame is still in good shape.
