Were the fourteen people arrested with him also kept in prison?
Most of them were held in pre-trial detention for a long time, but not all remained locked up for the full four years.
In the December 2022 raids, roughly 25 people were arrested in connection with the alleged Patriotische Union / Reichsbürger group around Heinrich XIII. Prinz Reuß. The main Frankfurt trial involves nine defendants (including Reuß himself).
As of late 2025:
Eight of the nine Frankfurt defendants were still in Untersuchungshaft (pre-trial detention).
One — Vitalia B., Reuß’s partner — was released at the end of 2025 after about three years because the court decided continued detention was no longer proportionate given the expected sentence and time already served.
Parallel proceedings in Stuttgart and Munich involve additional defendants from the same complex. Overall, a significant number of those arrested with him spent years in pre-trial detention, though the exact number still held has declined over time as some were released on proportionality grounds.
So the short answer is: yes, many of the people arrested alongside him were also kept in prison for years, but not every single one of the original arrestees remained in custody the entire time.
Mockery by the interviewer?
Welcome, Prince Reuss. Thank you for being willing to have this conversation. May I ask you a few questions?
How long have you been in prison? Do you actually count the days?
I don’t count the days, but this will be my fifth Christmas spent here.
How do you spend Christmas in your cell?
Just like every other day in the cell. Of course, you hear about it from the outside through the media. I also have television and radio, so Christmas is there too. And yes, there are preparations here at the prison—both Protestant and Catholic services. So in a way, you get a little sense of the festive hours.
