Congress Forces Al Jazeera, Other Foreign Media to Disclose Ties

Congress recently approved new legislation that would force foreign-owned media organizations such as Qatar’s Al Jazeera to register as a foreign agent under U.S. law. The legislation, included in the annual National Defense Authorization Act, or NDAA, would mandate that foreign-owned media organizations register under the Foreign Agents Registration Act, or FARA, a move that would shine greater sunlight on these organizations' ties to foreign governments.

Al Jazeera in particular has become a poster child for those in Congress backing the legislation. A delegation of lawmakers, including Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) and Rep. Lee Zeldin (R., N.Y.), have been championing the legislation for months, arguing that Al Jazeera and others should be forced to admit their close ties to foreign governments. Proponents of the legislation argue that media outlets such as Al Jazeera have tried to hide their agenda behind the guise of objective journalism. Al Jazeera, for instance, recently faced intense scrutiny on Capitol Hill for running a secret, months-long spy operation on American Jewish activists and their allies in Congress on order from the Qatari government.

Cruz, Zelden, and Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D., N.J.) petitioned Attorney General Jeff Sessions in March to launch an investigation into Al Jazeera. "The Department of Justice's recent designation of Russia's RT America as a foreign agent, as well as the questionable practices of Al Jazeera and China Central Television, strongly suggest the presence of a subversive threat in the United States," Cruz said in a statement at the time. "Qatar's Al Jazeera, which the State Department has indicated is state-controlled, produces content that is anti-American, anti-Semitic, and anti-Israel, while promoting positive coverage of terrorist organizations such as Iranian-sponsored Hezbollah and Hamas." "Our adversaries, from the Middle East to Eurasia, are waging influence campaigns against the American people under the guise of objective news, with the goal of shaping Americans' perceptions in accordance with their nefarious interests," Cruz said. "The United States should take all necessary and prudent steps to unmask these efforts for what they are: the propaganda of terrorist-supporting regimes and authoritarian states."

Congressional officials touted the new legislation as part of larger efforts to force foreign-owned media outlets to disclose their agendas. "The Obama administration was hopeless on this issue, and Secretary of State Clinton even testified to Congress that Al Jazeera is better than American journalism because Al Jazeera is actually ‘real news'," said one senior Republican congressional staffer. "Lawmakers hoped the Trump administration would be better but they weren't. So Congress took things into its own hands."

Nicolle Wallace Jubilant Over Report of Omarosa Secretly Recording Trump: ‘That’s Awesome!’

MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace sounded ebullient on Wednesday over a report that former White House aide Omarosa Manigault-Newman secretly recorded conversations with President Donald Trump. The Daily Beast reported she secretly taped Trump and leveraged the conversations while shopping her new "tell-all" book about her time in the White House, entitled Unhinged. The report noted multiple sources "described the recorded conversations between Trump and Manigault as anodyne, everyday chatter, but said they did appear to feature Trump’s voice, either over the phone or in-person." Wallace, one of the Trump administration's fiercest critics at MSNBC, didn't seem to know that as she closed her daytime program with the report—the show came back from commercial break with panelists already giggling—and noted Michael Cohen, Trump's former attorney, was apparently not the only person in the president's orbit to record their conversations. "What we know is that Omarosa secretly recorded her conversations with Donald Trump, at least part of them," Daily Beast‘s Sam Stein said. "That's awesome!" Wallace said. "Is Tom Arnold watching? I mean, here are the tapes. We found them! Omarosa's got them. What's on them?"

Stein noted they didn't know what was on the tapes, although one source told them "some of it was innocuous" but they didn't know the extent of the recordings. Stein said Omarosa's decision to record him without his knowledge showed the kind of people Trump surrounds himself with, as well as her lack of trust in him. "The book is called ‘Unhinged.' I mean, the president and everybody around him clearly are unhinged," Wallace said, adding Trump was surrounded by "lowlives."

Omarosa said before Trump won the presidency that eventually every one of his detractors and critics "will have to bow down to President Trump." She's changed her opinion of him a great deal since then, saying in an appearance on the reality show "Celebrity Big Brother" regarding his presidency that "it's not going to be OK" and mocking Vice President Mike Pence's religious faith. Omarosa became a household name after appearing on "The Apprentice" and "Celebrity Apprentice," both hosted by Trump, and became White House director of communications for the Office of Public Liaison under Trump before a stormy exit in December.

I am loving the big smiles, they don't even try to hide their joy….But what I am really going to get the best satisfaction from is watching, how badly they react when it all unfolds…it will be better than election night!

It's time to vet the Democrats looking to ride the wave

The mid-term elections are now less than 13 weeks away and the stakes are high. If Democrats retake Congress, they will launch unending investigations with subpoena power, consider articles of impeachment in the first 90 days and shut down President Trump’s legislative agenda for the next two years.

Democrats want this mid-term election to be about the president’s personality and temperament. They desperately want to avoid scrutiny of their own congressional candidates. But shouldn’t the public understand who these Democratic candidates are, what vision and experience they are offering and whether they are even qualified to serve in Congress?

The season of vetting the Democratic congressional challengers is now upon us. Let me offer three examples, all from my home state of Texas, where Democrats are aiming to knock off Republican incumbents.

One of the prized Democratic recruits of the 2018 cycle is former NFL player and Obama administration official Colin Allred, who was just endorsed by former President Obama. He is running against House Rules Committee Chairman Pete Sessions in a Dallas district. This past April, Mr. Allred was interviewed on the “Law for the People” podcast with Eric Cedillo, a Dallas immigration attorney. In that conversation, he bragged about serving as a research assistant for the “really well-known” and “really well-respected” author Ian Haney Lopez, who wrote the 2014 book “Dog Whistle Politics.” I will save you the time of reading the book, which includes chapters entitled, “The GOP’s Rise as the White Man’s Party;” “What’s the Matter with White Voters? Common-sense Racism;” and “The Wrecking Begins: Reagan.” Among the more vicious and divisive passages in the book, Mr. Haney Lopez and Mr. Allred argue that whites are racist for living in suburbs: “[W]hite professionals have mainly avoided integration by retreating to private academies, gated suburbs and protected professional worlds. Their ability to flee integration reflects both the resources available to better-off whites as well as the greater sway they exercise over government. As a result, well-off whites have experienced integration only on their own terms-in controlled settings, such as elite colleges and universities, and with only token numbers of non-whites. Beyond these managed interactions with integration, well-off whites remain the most racially isolated group in the United States.” In another passage, the book argues that, “for many whites, the measure of whether they’ve made it increasingly turns on being able to set the terms with which they associate with minorities.” Mr. Haney Lopez and Mr. Allred apparently believe it’s racist to live in the suburbs and that whites feel successful only if they can avoid interacting with minorities. Pretty extreme. As a candidate, Mr. Allred wants citizenship for up to 12 million illegal immigrants and supports the full government takeover of health care known as Medicare for All, which the Mercatus Center just said would cost $32 trillion over 10 years.

My belief is that we have already gotten ahead of them, we have had more shill attacks over the last few weeks than I have seen before, doubtful it's an accident. Average everyday people are learning about what we do here through many other formats that make them curious enough to find out what it's all about. From there they verify what is being said here. I have encountered more people who are paying attention in ways I never thought possible. Look at the bill board displayed on this bread now, and this is not the first bill board to have shown up by any means. The msm will lose the trust and faith of the public through their own stupidity, they have no one to blame but themselves, they do not investigate or vet any information anymore they simply narrate what they are told to say.
