If you go to the Biltmore Estate you can take a tour through the entire mansion, including the pool in the basement. I took the tour and the entire basement (including the pool room) were creepy.

I loaded fedhamfag's .kmz file that contains all of the federal employees that have or have had ham radio licenses. I also extracted the raw data by unzipping the file in WinZip (fedhamfag explains how to do this below. I went through all of the licenses issued in 2017/2018.

I noticed that many fed employees work/worked for FEMA, Langley Research Center (NASA), Veterans Health, US Marshals, Fish & Wildlife, Patent & Trademark, National Park Service, Social Security, USGS, National Protection and Programs Directorate (part of FEMA), FAA, FEMA, US Coast Guard,

TSA, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Mine Safety and Health Administration, ICE, EPA, Bureau of Prisons, Financial Crimes Enforcement, FDA and Customs and Border Protection. It seems as though they obtain the ham license and radio as a way to communicate if SHTF.

One odd thing I noticed is that the majority of them obtained the ham license after they left their federal career. Could it be that they are still moonlighting in their old federal job and using ham radio to communicate with their peers?

I ran the entire 2014-2017 fed employee database against the entire FCC amateur (ham) radio license database, matching by state, first name, last name, and middle when available.

Note that a few "sensitive" agencies like F_I are [Name redacted].

These are all of the possible candidates, mapped in Gulag Earth KML.

All points are disabled (invisible) by default for fast loading - attempting to make visible the entire data set at once is a bad idea.

They are organized by: state AND year of last employment OR year/month of license grant in reverse chronological order.

Don't have GEarth? That's ok. Also included is all of the data in XML and pipe '|' separated CSV format. A .kmz file is a zip file by another name. Just rename to .zip and you can view the data however you like e.g. CSV in Excel/OpenOffice.
